I know that there are plenty of Lurkers out there who enjoy a good game of Sins.
After many dev thrashing threads they need some love. Post what you really like about Sins!
I reallly like the immersive gameplay and ship design. The skyboxes and all of the little graphic detail that makes Sins of a Solar Empire a game that does not gather "dust".
The community is really good too, with devs and mods who listen to what you say and try to add it in. Ironclad is pretty amazing and more stuff is yet to roll out!
They deserve a round of applause.
Lets be honest here's a 4x games by a new dev that after 100 hours play for me has never EVER crashed! And I'm running the sort of PC that should -does crash PC games (vista 64 OC'ed CPU and SLI and OC'ed ram) If all games had this level of no DRM and didn't crash and were this easy to pick up yet so deep they take months to master have SP AND MP. And frankley be so fun to play on or offline.
PC games would be alot better in general!
Ironclad not only broke the mould, they made a new one many, many experienced PC game makers have yet to better.
Round of applause alright, I even bought two copies of Sins one for my laptop and one for my main PC, I didn't have to but feel I should support games of this calibre!
And I would note although the GFX are simple, they are very good!
ironclad deserve all the awards Sins got.
I like how every multiplayer game I play feels like a freely evolving personal story. I play a lot online with my friend down in DC (I live in NYC) and every game, with its attacks, counter-attacs, surrenders and secret alliances, forms a unique and emerging narrative. Sometimes, it seems like we're on the ropes, but then one of our teammates moves in on an opponents capital planet, he realizes he's stretched too thin and quits/surrenders, or offers to join us. This throws off the whole balance of his team, but they still try to rally with what they've got.
There may not be an over-arching campaign within the game telling us what's supposed to happen and when... we decide, through strategy and whimsy, the course of how the story of our game plays out. And since we tend to use random maps with random online opponents, it's a different outcome every time. Sometimes we win, sometimes we don't. Fortunately, these "stories" never go past three hours (we do have lives outside of the game) but sometimes they stretch pretty far, and the longer the battles, the bigger the stakes... This makes the game (endlessly?) replayable and enjoyably, uniquely, epic!
sweet.

i like just everything about the game. But to be honest what makes the game the best is the ppl that surround the game there are so many ppl out there that either created mods are are since making them that add to the game if you get bored of a certain mod you could always add a new one that may change the game on many lvls, forcing you to have to rethink how you play. For stardock and ironclad to give the rights/permission to ppl to allow them to do so i feel it a great team. I give many props and respect to thos that made/making mods and to the creators of the game its self
thank you all for sose
I'm still amazed that this game was made by a team of only 9 people. Wow.
I love Sins. It is everything I've ever wanted from a space strategy game. I love sci-fi, and this game quenches my thirst for battles in space with fleets of spaceships.
Don't get me wrong - there is a TON of stuff to love about the game itself* - but for me, the two really outstanding features of sins are its price tag, and the fact it spares us all the agony of DRM-locked software. It's fantastic to see a gaming product where consumers are actually prioritised rather than treated as a liability... as is the case with virtually every other gaming company in recent times.
*For reference: the visuals, the slick UI and the actual gameplay.
1 Sins is the game I wished Homeworld had been. I don't like scripted events.
2 No DRM
3 Great community and dev involvement.
4 Factions are interesting and cover most of the Sci Fi stereo types. TEC = humans, Advent = Advanced/Religious, Viscari = Agressive/Alien
5 Nice graphics and interesting ship designs.
6 Micromanagment is minimized
loving the scale, the massive clashes, the price, and the fact that there's no restrictive copyprotection also impulse is a pretty decent platform (no more hassle with updates) - way to go!
€: almost forgot, the sound (ambient, sfx) is GREAT!
