I'm sure this will be met with some measure of controversy...
I am saddened to see any child die, I empathize with the true innocent's that have perished in not only this war but all the other futile conflicts.
...but....frankly I've had it up to my ears listening to radical advocates spouting off about their children being killed, parading photos around as if THEY had had no stake in what led up to the event.
I believe that radical islam is on its way to destroying our planet. When your putting weapons in the hands of, or strapping bombs to.. your young men..you have lost any and all claim to being a civilized people and imo merit zero sympathy.
When I look at the faces, in the photo's, I am hard pressed to find ONE face that isn't in some form portraying evil or anger, They don't want peace, they care nothing about truces or diplomacy, they don't cherish or celebrate life.
It is a disease, a drug that is slowly but very surely speading accross our planet, I personally don't see anyway it can be stopped.
I am loathed to think about raising my own children in the current world climate. Sure there are many more forces at work, but I believe the single most significant threat to the west in the years to come is keeping this evil at bay.
Some of you I'm sure will invoke Isreali \ Western agrression, warmongering, ideology, any number of reasons why it's not their fault... I think thats BS.
Look at the images, do you see peace seekers? Children of God?..
I see pure evil.
When it comes to the children John, I see brain washed innocents that will do what they are told by those that they respect. No child ANYWHERE should be carrying ANY weapon for ANY cause. But isn't it now as it has always been. The innocents suffer due to the sins of both sides in a conflict. It's not a faith that is bad but those that twist it to fit their own fanatical needs. Sadly in the end you are right. You can't send missiles and mortar rounds into another country and not expect retaliation that will kill your own people. Ten million men can go to heaven as martyrs if they wish, just leave the children alone.
Actually John, it will be over someday. When the human race destroys itself and this planet. It will definitely be over then, and in the eyes of God, the universe will probably be a far better place.

Any and every death is a tragedy. Fact. The death of children and adults alike.
When one engineers, plans and executes a series of events that cause others to intervene violently, and hides among civilians so that those intervening have no choice (without impossibly high losses) but to cause deaths it seems incredibly arrogant and hypocritical to claim that those putting a halt to the violence perpetrated on them with rocket attacks, suicide/homicide bombers are the agressors.
This is like the case of a man guilty of killing his parents and demanding mercy from the Court because he is an orphan.
They have vowed to destroy Israel and regard every inch of Israel as theirs.
Josef Gobbels did the same during WWII...the Big Lie....the bigger it is, the more will find it impossible to think it's a lie.

All Israel wants for a cease-fire is:
1. Israel's right to live in peace be recognized by Hamas (as it was by the PLO government before it wrested power from Abu-Mazen).
2. That the bombings, rocket and mortar attacks cease. They have endured them for seven (7) years before this action was taken.
3. Israel is NOT out to kill every Hamasnik. Don't believe that.
What is unreasonable about this?
Would you tolerate the Hamas/Hizbullah crap that long? Would a U.S. President, or any leader?
But, when it comes to Jews there's a double standard. There always has been.
Well, surprise....I don't think this is going to end because the Palestinian media machine says it must. Thank G-d the Israelis are made of sterner stuff. Thank G-d they are making it possible for the moderates to take over when Hamas is smashed.
I will also say that I am a Dual citizen. I was a Line Officer in The Israel Defense Forces. I will always be proud of that. I never faced anyone but other soldiers in combat. No Israeli officer or soldier is allowed to perpetrate willing and knowing violence on an unarmed, non-hostile.
My heart is with my comrades and colleagues now in combat.
There will never be peace with those who deny one's right to live in peace.

I'm afraid to get sucked into this discussion again, but ALL FUNDAMENTALIST religions don't want peace, care nothing about truces or diplomacy, and don't cherish or celebrate life--they cherish control, they celebrate death (it's the only way to enter paradise) and the only means to peace under their doctrine is through theocracy.I will admit, there were atheist regimes that were bloody, and violent, but those aspects could be put back on the shoulders of just one man in control at the time (which can be stopped with the elimination of that one person), NOT a system/dynamic that transends one person/time period.The problem is, people who take their faith to the level of fundamentalists ARE diseased--they have hit mental illness levels. My favorite saying is "Perception is everything" -- they perceive that it's necessary that all opposing opinions must be squashed in order for them to find peace, which goes beyond peace in this world at this time -- it's an everylasting, never ending peace promised by their "gods/God/G-d" and that means it supercedes reason. There is no answer to this. People who think like this can't be reasoned with, and it would be hypocritical to destroy them all by people who claim to be reasonable and desirous of peace and celebrating life!
It all comes down to "My god is better than your god". The worlds population needs to belive in something real and tangible instead of fairy tales. We need to get over ourselves and work for a common cause. Raising our children to raise children...
John...I know just how you feel. But I hate to say it...your wasting your breath even venturing into the subject. It's become so engrained into peoples thinking that even discussing it just encourages more anger and violence. People can't and won't be told they are that way. And another thing I hate to say is this...where do you think those people got those weapons? If it weren't for this country making the weapons available they'd be throwing stones instead of shooting bullets. Until we take back our own country and stop the greed of our own government as well as our growing obsession for ultimate power it's just going to continue. And really there's a lot more to it than just that...the balance of power, wealth and justice os completely out of whack. I could go on and on about it...but I've been down this road enough to know that it's not going to change any time soon...and its just to depressing to think about.

Well, TG, I don't see two wrongs. I see one. And I see some pretty brave people going out to fix it.
Will innocents die? Yes...because Hamas planned it that way. It's their weapon.
That's the unfortunate thing Doc, most people are too blinded, and seem to have tunnel vision when it comes down to the fact that there are always 2 sides.
I see it from both sides, and death is a sad thing, kids shouldn't need to suffer because of what their Country may, or may not have done.

Every religion believes that. Period. My comment isn't specifically about this conflict. It's about religion in general. I don't blame the Israelis for going into Gaza to protect their people from rocket attacks. A country must defends it's people. I'm speaking specifically about religion based conflicts. And ultimately, this one is based on religious beliefs. How long has this conflict been going on between these two? Thousands of years right? It's our god given land...or something like that.
In less than a decade all that will be left is a contaminated zone. It is just a matter of time before nukes are involved. They onec fought with sticks, then guns, and so on...
I dated a girl that was raised/ brainwashed, whatever you want to call it that it is her duty to kill an american before she dies. She rebelled, told her Father that she was dating a white american boy, he swore he would kill me if ever the chance. No BS!!!! This is what you are dealing with. Belive it or don't. There have been instances of suicide due to online bullying. It's a very real issue and primarily why Sites have 'rules' and people to enforce them...
I feel as though the humans living in the world do need to take a step back, take a very deep breath and consider the effecta of thier actions. I do mean everyone, with no exception.
There is really only one piece of information that is required here, what has happened yesterday, happening today and unforunately will happen tomorrow has been occuring since the dawn of time. It doesn't make either side right or wrong. The taking of lives for your own cause can and never will be able to be justified and will always be wrong.
Depending on your way of thinking and keeping track of time, there is somewhat over 2 thousand years of recorded history that shows the inhumanity that humans can bring on one another. It is amiazing and defies all intelligence and logic that we have not found a way that we all can live peacefully together in all that time.
Only four days into the new year, looks like this one is gone to hell all ready.
The world would be a much better place without people.
