I'm sure this will be met with some measure of controversy...
I am saddened to see any child die, I empathize with the true innocent's that have perished in not only this war but all the other futile conflicts.
...but....frankly I've had it up to my ears listening to radical advocates spouting off about their children being killed, parading photos around as if THEY had had no stake in what led up to the event.
I believe that radical islam is on its way to destroying our planet. When your putting weapons in the hands of, or strapping bombs to.. your young men..you have lost any and all claim to being a civilized people and imo merit zero sympathy.
When I look at the faces, in the photo's, I am hard pressed to find ONE face that isn't in some form portraying evil or anger, They don't want peace, they care nothing about truces or diplomacy, they don't cherish or celebrate life.
It is a disease, a drug that is slowly but very surely speading accross our planet, I personally don't see anyway it can be stopped.
I am loathed to think about raising my own children in the current world climate. Sure there are many more forces at work, but I believe the single most significant threat to the west in the years to come is keeping this evil at bay.
Some of you I'm sure will invoke Isreali \ Western agrression, warmongering, ideology, any number of reasons why it's not their fault... I think thats BS.
Look at the images, do you see peace seekers? Children of God?..
I see pure evil.
Me neither but living in denial doesn't exist to me. Problems need to be discussed until all perspectives are exhausted whether it hurts to think and discuss or not. We will continue to destroy ourselves as long as people continue to ignore their part of the problem.
Actually, the intenet is the closest you will ever come to "One world". Just look at the possibilities and you'll see that the internet is they way to cure things. This is the first step to world peace if we can keep ourselves alive long enough to see some changes.
Starkers im with you pretty much everything u write in this thread is great, Mabye not appliable but good.
Was about to write something long here hehe but nevermind.... im just to lazy to care what people think.
The American way!
well im married to one so i guess it have rubbed off..
And let me rephrase... this site is about skinning not human nature i come here to get away from the world and enjoy myself in ART not embark on a journey of politics, there are other places and times for that.
This is ignorance and a lack of will of seeing both sides of the coin.... this IS the american way.
Im not saying palestinians are correct and israel are certainly not doing all good things..... 80% of that wall they built is on palestinian land encircling good soil for growing.... there are US funded motorways across palestinian land where palestinians are not allowed... sure the suicide bombs have decreased with 96% since the wall came up. Israel sold weapons and trained the burma junta that now is is killing monks..... SO both are wrong in their doings..... aaaahhh crap NT now you made me write this stuff crap crap crap
I believe this is the community thread, 1 in 10 posts here might be about skinning, it's one of my dislikes about WC recently, It's not like I don't come here for art , skinning too, but I feel passionate about other things too. I don't hang out in 'other places' so if it's ok with you, I'll post here under the rules.
It's real simple tho, if it bothers you or anyone else, you need not read, post... click the back button or check out a games thread instead.
It's not a mystery why there's war in the middle east... The reason for *all* current conflicts there is europe and the US. There are a number of reasons, which I won't dig deeply into here. I'll just say it's oil, religion, politics and borders... All where the "civilized" world (talking about us here, the rich countries in europe and the US) play a HUGE part in maintaining the unstability.
In the end of world war II, europeans and americans felt sorry for the jews (for good reason). So we decided to "give back" their country to them and created a country called Israel... How convenient... Problem solved?? No.. Because neither europeans or americans actually LIVE in the middle east... How'd you feel if someone who doesn't even live in the same country as you do came and pulled a line through your home saying it's some new country? How long would you think it was ok to fight against the injustice? 2 weeks? 2 months? 5 years? The rest of your life? Now consider that this was done in a WAY larger scale, millions of people were affected, and lots of them forced to move from the homes they lived in all their life...
Add to that 50 years of european and american cash and weapons fed to the "appropriate" faction of the month... As far as I know, ALL the major terrorist organisations in the world have been receiving funding from america and europe...
The thing is, this is just a tiny bit of what's been done in the middle east to "maintain order". I'm not at all surprised that there is war there, what surprises me is the fact that people actually think people there are pissed off for no reason.
When you look beyond what you WANT to see, you'll notice that pretty much nothing in the world is as it first seem to be.
I don't see evil, I see great injustice... And I *know* who to blame for it.
I don't think it's OK for them to act the way they do... But really, it's been 50 years, and we still just shrug and send in the bombs when things get too tight...
agree but WC is linked to JoeUser. Perhaps the post sghould have been catagorized differently but it only takes but 2 seconds to clcik the x button in the corner of your montior if the subject isn't of interest to you. Suggesting others don't discuss subjects that you are indifferent to is a bit..... backwards dontcha think?
The connection between WC and Joeuser apparently isn't going away. I have gotten used to it and I don't believe there to be a limit to what can and cannot be discussed. Anyone for a good abortion chat?
Do people that just don't give a damn at all ever feel guilt associated to their selfishness and lack of heart? Do they really go through hell on their deathbed? I would really like to know because the battle is human nature, not over land, gods, money, futbol, soccer matches, property lines, shoes, etc. ????
I don't mean the hard criminals, I mean the people that hurt others for their own gain?
Alright i will take your suggestion, but something i feel strongly about is the ignorance you are showing here... feeding what i belive more hate and bad feelings.. instead of understanding, like why are they waving those photos why are they using guns.. why is this hate being spread... the truth is not a single conflict its human nature try to change that instead of being shortsighted and start blaming palestinians
Im sure there are many reasons for people being 'pissed off' Regardless, none of these reasons justify strapping on bombs and walking onto a bus full of civilians or tieing up a woman and drilling holes in the top of her head with a powertool.
It never helps to say "i'f we'd only done this or that, If we hadn't etc etc"
All that is doing, is fueling the fire, telling them, it's ok, you can murder your, our children because of what has happened in the past.
At some point the HATE has to stop.
beat me to the punchline
The problem is that this isn't about hurting others for own gain... It's diplomacy gone bad because of one part refusing to listen. The western world has only responded with weapons every time the people in the middle east has raised their voices in protest.
If the same actions would be taken on gangs in major cities, where would we end up? We give weapons and money to the gang that seem to agree most with our values, let them eliminate the other gangs... A solution that *might* work??? Hardly...
#56... good post.
That's so easy for you to say... Living a protected life...
When should the hate stop? Not even 5 years go by without america UN tossing bombs into some country in the middle east...
No more need be said.
It's called free speech.
What i think people aren't getting is I am not taking sides.. all I know is I can go google radical Islamic attrocities then google Israeli ones....VAST difference in results.
I am sure there are deap seated resentments, transgressions on either side, It is what we do going forward that matters.
The only flags i see being burned are western flags. I dont see massive throngs of Americans shouting DEATH TO IRAN in unison while sporting assualt rifles and black hoods.
And yes, it might be easy for me to say, living my protected life, because i happen to CHERISH my life.
At least, I am saying it., Apathy and tolerance were never my strong suits.
Easy way out...... the post starting this can follow the same guidelines right.. if it bothers v-styler.. tell him to look the other way.. or just dont listen.
DrJBHL i yhink your oppinions are very one sided.. probably with a cause.
I know i can rub people the wrong way and im happy people like v-styler exists it would be very boring if everyone thought the same way about everything. Im sorry if i offend you all im just pushing my own views that i believe in.
voidcore, your welcome to continue expressing you opinion, it's why i made the thread, and I will continue to disagree with you.
Whether your contention is correct or not here's the deal:
1. It's 2009 and Israel is going to stop or radically alter Hamas' campaign of terror against it.
2. I don't give a rat's ass about imagined conspiracies, etc. Israelis have the right to live in peace. That's all they ever wanted.
3. They left Gaza, their factories and greenhouses and the treated arable land converted from desert. Period. No compensation. What did the Arabs do with it? Use it to launch their missles.
4. Israel has allies. Get used to it. The Arabs aren't standing so solidly behind Hamas as in the past. Why is that? Because Hamas has precipitated this current round which might be the last round for them there if people have the courage to say: "No more! Live in peace or be gone!"
5. You see great injustice...and you "know" who to blame for it. Funny how your glasses don't focus on everyone equally. Here it's really simple: "Stop. Live in Peace. No? Then leave or die."
Exactly. Let go of it, Hamas. Live in peace or stop living. Either way is OK with me. No tears shed. No compromise. No equivocating. End it or be ended.
What do you think they will do? Which do you think they are capable of choosing?
Oh yeah, and tell me just why is it wrong to defend yourself?
I'm glad somebody else appreciates my views, so thanks for that. However, they would be appliable if more people thought similarly and the concepts of peace and pacifism were predominant in their hearts. Sadly, there are those who believe more than their fair share is their right, and will walk all over whom-ever to get it... often using religion to disguise their true agenda/intent.
Is there an answer to this madness? Probably not... not until the peoples of the World refuse to blindly follow and give the lunatics power through numbers... just as a general is nothing without an army, fanatics are nothing without their disciples to do the dirty work thay have not the balls to do themselves.
Unfortunately, too many people Worldwide view a career in the miltary and are trained to kill, which may be considered more acceptable when it's to defend ones homeland/soil... but how many of the recent conflicts have actually been to defend home soil? Apart from the Israelis defending their homeland from rocket attacks and suicide bombers, most recent conflicts have been invasions to overthrow domestic rulers and force ideals down the throats of people who may not necesarily want them... thus creating bitterness, resentment and hatred towards those who appointed themselves the World's policemen.
We might not like rulers like Saddam Hussein and Robert Mugabe, but we need to stay at home when diplomacy fails to help resolve the issues, because intervention results only in greater bloodshed.
1. Right, and that will make the middle east a safe place and peace and love will prosper? Hardly.
2. There's nothing conspiratory about israel, it WAS founded after WWII by the allies, noone bothered to speak to those who actually live in the middle east at all. After all, it's not OUR country is it?
3 - 5. The israeli has no more right to live in peace on that land than those who lived there before israel was founded by EUROPEANS and AMERICANS... Which is even MORE valid since you seem to consider 50 years to be more than enough time to drop the issue...
Lets hope for a peaceful solution, but i dont think that will work...
They arent imagined.. and they arent conspiracy's its politics and money, its in plain sight.
Left?? first they took it all... then left it what was it 2003?
Lets hope this happens.. nothing justifies the rockets they shoot at israel it is just evil.
But the isreali peace might not be the peace the palestinians want there need to be a dialog not a monolog for both sides to get smomething both can live with.
The other side probably think the same way....
Spot on....
Mickeko are correct...
What now is called isreal was the Osmanian empire then GreatBritain took it over.... Under GB rule the first promises where made for a zionist state.
You don't offend me at all. I just wish you'd go live in Gaza for a while to get some "sweat equity" in what you hold opinions about.
There's nothing easy about free speech. My family and I have earned it from Plymouth Rock to The Yom Kippur War and everything in between.
I dare say that there does not exist a country in the world that was not created by someone taking something from someone. If so, I would be pleased to be educated. The issue is the way forward and there will be no peace unless both sides decide that living together is better than constant war and one side can not realistically demand the total destruction of the other side. The total destruction of Israel as Hamas demands is not a viable option for any future peace.
Thanks, Ken. Very few seem to grasp that this is the real issue. There's no room for compromise or equivocation when your survival is threatened as they have threatened Israel's.
I'm done here. Bye and thanks for the opportunity of speaking my mind, vStyler.
A better New Year to all.
