Hello new recruits and enlistees. Welcome to the Metaverse. This forum post is for all newcomers to GalCiv2, or just newcomers to the MV. If you're not sure what empire to join on the MV, make a reply on this post and the leaders/senators of the MV empires will take a look and offer you the chance to join their empires.
A Brief Overview on the MV
The Metaverse is one of a kind in that you can play on it whenever you want, and you don't have to go through the complicated process of setting up a game like you do in a regular Multiplayer format. You have three character slots. These slots are your tickets into the MV and into MV empires. Once you've created a character, you can choose to add him to an already existing empire. That's where this post comes in. If you are unsure about which empire to join, or if you are unsure about which empires are currently still active in the MV, this is the place to go for that information. If you have any questions or comments, post to this thread and either myself or a browsing veteran will respond as soon as possible.
I am not entirely certain on how popular this post is going to be. The MV is kind of at a standstill right now, but their are still people posting to it and adding to their empires scores. I encourage anyone who is not currently part of an empire to make a character and join one. Like I said before, any questions that you have on how to do this can be posted right here on this thread. Being active in the Metaverse is just another great part about GalCiv2.
Finally, I am going to try and keep an updated list of active MV empires, and also one of currently "dead" empires. I'm only going to list dead empires that are in the Top 15, but I will be willing to list any empire, no matter what rank, that is currently active in the MV. If a player comes to this thread and sees that their active empire isn't in my list, please feel free to drop me a reply so that I can add you to the list of actives. Also, you may have noticed that some of the active empires have their names as links. If you click on one of these links, you will be taken directly to that empire's official thread. I did use the green button (its a tree right?) to try to post an image. I think i may be just pasting the wrong stuff to get the pic here. In imageshack there were three choices, 2 said they were for forum use. I cut and pasted them in full but i still got nuttin'.
All I ever do is copy the image URL and paste it into the Insert/edit image dialog. Your avatar is at http://web.stardock.net/images/accounts/27/1/2701034/icon.jpg.

Neilo made it quite clear to me that catnip is not used to make ale, at least not Aussie ale.
Admittedly, after discovering the real use for catnip, I've been smoking way too much,...... but I believe it was a..... frog that provided access to these forums.
ahh i see. okay. here's what to do. let's see if i can pull this off without SD's forum code getting in the way.
image shack might give you something that looks like this:
only there won't be spaces around the brakets. all you want is the image location, which means you should get rid of everything in brackets, which i've made red. also if you see ".th" toward the end, you probably want to get rid of that too - that means it's the thumbnail sized image. so what you want to paste into the green button's dialoge box should look like this instead:

NOTICE: It appears that the Galactic Domination Alliance has joined the Top 20 on the MV, despite the fact that they haven't actually had any submitted games in quite some time. With that in mind, they have now made the "Active but Quiet" list.
If anyone from the GDA would like their empire to be seen on the "Active" list, please create an official MV thread for them here on GC2.com.
Also, if the Adepta Sororitas would post an official empire thread in the MV section of the GC2.com forums, I will gladly place you in the "Active" list. Despite the fact that you're not in the Top 20 yet, your empire has made a decent contribution to the MV.
Finally, the B.C. Space Orcas have one week to create an official empire thread. If they do not sponsor one within the week, there is a good chance that they will be placed into the "Inactive" list.
The Orcas are a very old empire, and have a thread. It's buried far back in the Metaverse section of the forum. There are more active ex-Orcas in the Kzinti than there are in the BC Space Orcas now.
Hmmm... thanks for the info KP. I spent some time a couple weeks ago searching the MV forum, but couldn't find any thread of theirs. Guess I'll go have another look over there.
Also, I know that they're fairly inactive, but they do actually have a couple scores being posted still (this information comes from the AltMeta), so I thought it would be fair not to rule them out entirely.
Well, that didn't take long. I can't believe I missed that. The B.C. Space Orcas now have their thread's link updated.
