This 'ere thread be for random quotes, ya see? If you post, you must include a quote somewhere. like this
or this:
OMG... I am doing it... JC Denton "What a Shame..."
"You can be at ease only with those people to whom you can say any damn fool thing that comes into your head, knowing they will respond in kind, and knowing that any misunderstandings will be thrashed out right now, rather than buried deep and given a chance to fester."
John D. McDonald
Man its been a while since I even visited this site let alone post something.
"The reason I talk to myself is that I'm the only one whose answers I accept" George Carlin
"Don't quote me."
-unknown
For those Blackadder fans
Witchhunter: The suspect has his head placed upon a block, and an axe aimed at his neck. If the man is guilty, the axe will bounce off his neck -- so we burn him. If the man is not guilty, the axe will simply slice his head off.
Cpt. Blackadder: You see, Baldrick, in order to prevent a war in Europe, two super blocs developed: us, the French and the Russians on one side, and the Germans and Austro-Hungary on the other. The idea was to have two vast, opposing armies, each acting as the other's deterrent. That way, there could never be a war.
Baldrick: Except, well, this is sort of a war, isn't it?
Blackadder: That's right, there was one tiny flaw in the plan.
George: Oh, what was that?
Blackadder: It was bollocks.
"The irrationality of a thing is no argument against its existence, rather a condition of it." -Friedrich Nietzsche
"Unfortunately, the balance of nature decrees that a super-abundance of dreams is paid for by a growing potential for nightmares." -Peter Ustinov
"...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." -Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
"It has been said, ‘time heals all wounds.’ I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone." -Rose Kennedy
" Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well- warmed, and well-fed." - Herman Melville
"Nothing is permanent in this wicked world, not even our troubles." -Charles Chaplin
(not exact) "Life is pain, highness. Anyone who says otherwise is selling something."
"Nothing ventured, nothing gained"
"God is dead." - Nietzsche.... "Nietzsche is dead." - God
"So it goes...."
-Kurt Vonnegut
I guess this might be a little known quote but here it goes
"Your all going to die down here" The Red Queen says in the first Resident Evil movie when the comando team shuts her down and inadvertently unlocks the doors she was guarding and releases hundreds of zombies and some type of mutated creature. Pretty good movie, all in all.
I also wish my lawn was emo
"There is nothing to fear but fear itself."
-Franklin Delanor Roosevelt(correct me if Im wrong)
I'm not familiar with the acronym 'FDR', but I do know that the schizophrenic from 'Batman Begins' said this.
Either I don't know what you mean, or that's a rather strange thing to say.
I watched that film . They could have improved the way the zombies move when hit with bullets, particularly when the special ops woman somehow throws a zombie into the air with bullets.
"Everybody calm down, it's all in our imagination. Just think of fluffy bunnies and the zombies go away."
- Member of the spec ops in ResiEvil
The Undying.
And here I thought the US education system was bad...
Slight correction, Thomas: Franklin Delano Roosevelt. (His wife was Eleanor Roosevelt, which may have thrown you off.)
So it would cut itself, of course.
If necessary, I'll add a quote later, but I don't have one at the moment, and a number of the ones I'd choose off the top of my head have already been posted.
Announcer: Young people from all over the globe are joining up to fight for the future.
Soldier 1: I'm doing my part!
Solider 2: I'm doing my part!
Solider 3: I'm doing my part!
[Camera pans to the left; a young kid, probobly ten, walks out of the crowd in full combat gear]
Kid: I'm doing my part, too!
[Soliders laugh]
Announcer: They're doing their part, are you? Join the Mobile Infantry and save the world. Service Garentees Citizenship!
Gotta love Starship Troopers.
Wow. If we let people who say things like that in our Special Forces, we deserve a zombie attack.
Dracula: "Remember, Egore, do unto others---"
Egore: "Before they do unto me."
Hm..
I don't remember the kid in full combat gear in the recruitment video, but I remember a bunch of kids crushing bugs.
I just happen to be British. Don't start flaming us though, as whatever image you got of us is just a stereotype. I agree, rave music is total trash, and I associate more with the USA and it's values. Go Obama!
If you're stuck in a room with a horde of innumerable zombies outside, that may be your last hope.
That was funny. And the way that woman watching them cackles is a riot.
And now for the quote:
"If you are going to use military force, use overwhelming military force. Use too much and dilberately use too much. You'll save lives: not only your own, but the enemy's, too."
-Curtis LeMay
And just for the heck of it, here's the recruiting video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMTz9nIUkGc
The rain it raineth on the just And also on the unjust fella; But chiefly on the just, because The unjust steals the just's umbrella. - Lord Bowen
"Sex Is like Air, It's no big deal until your not geting any"
I noticed. It's why you're partially excused, in fact, but not entirely.
I still think your education system is a sham if you weren't introduced to FDR via your history classes at one point in time, although perhaps for some reason he simply wasn't memorable enough.
I am however not flaming at all. As I've stated, there are a number of problems with our education system as well.
"Let us rain some doom down upon the filthy heads of our doomed enemies!"
-Zim
"Ambition is the last refuge of failure."
-Oscar Wilde
May I just ask...not to open any really old wounds or anyhting, just being american, but...
Do they ever teach the American Revolutionary War in British History? (Here they actually have Vietnam War classes in High school)
