That explains why I can't update my other computer to play entrenchment via my lan. I hope it works after you get the new server going. 6 hyperactive kids are depending on you to way-lay their "When can we open our presents!" syndrome. . .
The Stardock root database server had a hardware crash on Christmas eve. The DB admins are working on restoring it but some services will be affected including customer database updating, software updating and downloading and other services. We do not currently have an ETA to solve due to limited personnel being available on Christmas eve / Christmas day but it should be rectified within the next 48 hours.
Note: All users who purchase anything between December 24 and the time this issue is rectified will be receiving a 33% off coupon on all future purchases as a token of appreciation for your patience.
just curious where will we get the coupon? and does it apply to purchases made during the server crash?

Edit: It gives me the "object reference is not set to an instance of the object" message. I've never used Impulse before, I have no idea what this means. I have it updated at 1.05, if that helps.
Ya, well, could not get it to update yesterday, and now today either. I bet there are a lot of new owners of Sins that are not very happy right now. . .
Purple Paladin, you have no idea how true that is. I just got it today and I can already see how badass this game is... and Impulse is definitely not downloading the latest patch.
My brother was pretty spooked by "that Impulse Thing" as he called it. I was going to use his visit here to show him it (and Sins) to calm his paranoia and hope he'd consider getting Sins/Entrenchment; you can guess how that's going now
"THE" server hardware? As in, you guys don't have any automatic or remotely activated emergency backup in place to handle these sort of occurances? Wow. That's just stupid. Stardock is touting this is the future of digital distribution and Ironclad is using this as your one and only means of selling expansions and distributing updates, and the whole thing hinges on a single set of hardware that can never go down or you lose ALL of your business, and NOBODY said in a meeting all this time "Hey, we should make sure there are no single-point hardware failures that could bring down the entire system."
As noted elsewhere, the automatic backup switchover also failed.
so... about the coupon... how and where will i get it? and will it apply to the download i made while the server was down?
As was stated in other posts, this just wasn't one thing that went out, it was a rare system of failures that resulted in the issues. They are working on it as we speak, and it will get resolved as soon as it's technically possible.
In the next couple of days, anyone who order during this time will receive info about the offered coupon.

Sorry, I didn't realize this thread wasn't acting as the central info thread on the problem for these forums and so wouldn't contain the info on the full breadth of the problem. Just a little peeved that my Christmas present was DOA.

I have impulse running but it is an older version
I cannot download anything since it says I have an old version of impulse, nor can I log in to impulse (but can to these forums obviously)
question 1:
how do I update impulse so that i can download updates to my game and BUY some more?
question 2:
how do I loging to impulse, is it the same userid as I use for these forums here?

So I downloaded an update on Impulse, and now it will not go beyond Verifying Download. I download 1.12.042 trying to update from 1.0.0. Is this due to the server problems or is this another issue?
Try disabling your antivirus while patching, and launching Impulse with admin privileges. Getting stuck on verifying usually means either AV is holding up the files, or Impulse doesn't have permissions.

At approximately NOON on December 24th Stardock experienced a catastrophic hardware failure. The failure impacted several components of software order and fulfillment. The services impacted have been repaired as of MIDNIGHT on December 25th. During the repair period services such as the customer database, software registrations and digital downloads were unavailable.

I just tried to download Impulse from the download menu on the web site but it gave me a page could not be found. Am I going to the wrong place to download it?
I have tried downloading impulse several times and every time I do so I get Error message 2343

I'm unable to register my original Sins game which at the moment is terrible since I've already purchased Entrenchment and can't even download/play it right now.
I have the game sitting in front of me with my registration key and it's been input correctly (I've used it in the past to download the patch just can't input it into Impulse).
Send an email to support@stardock.com about it. You can also try hopping on #sins and #stardock IRC channels (or through Impulse Community > Chat) and see if anyone is available to check into it for you.
