I've had SoaSE for a while, but just rescently decided to update. When I try to do update it with Impulse, I get an error message saying, "Problem being downloaded, Object referance not set to an instance of an object." Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Some of SD's server hardware died today, they're in the process of moving to a new server and say it'll be a few hours:

Oh PLEASE God, let them fix it soon. I have a half dozen neices and nephews comming over for X-mas eve, all were promised to get to play/try Entrenchment via my lan, but it won't let me update my other computer. If this is not fixed soon, I'll be used as monkey bars all night by annoyed hyperactive disapointed kids till midnight
Admittedly, that does not sound like a very pleasurable evening
Ya, and I'm out of Ridalin. . . With my brother's sense of humor, he will give them all Redbull before they come over.
Redbull, small already hyperactive children? I'm not seeing the problem here.
Annatar -- any fix on your server issue yet? I am also receiving the " Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error message. Soooo frustrating ....
The Stardock root database server had a hardware crash on Christmas eve. The DB admins are working on restoring it but some services will be affected including customer database updating, software updating and downloading and other services. We do not currently have an ETA to solve due to limited personnel being available on Christmas eve / Christmas day but it should be rectified within the next 48 hours.
Note: All users who purchase anything between December 24 and the time this issue is rectified will be receiving a 33% off coupon on all future purchases as a token of appreciation for your patience.
Time to rethink Impulse. I am unimpressed. I bought Sins of a Solar Empire on Dec. 23rd and would like it patched before I play so I have no save game issues. I did a custom install and removed it and reinstalled before I found this message. I have spent way too much time getting this game patched. I would think this post should be stickyed. I should not have had to go digging for this post. This is my first Stardock game and so far, I might have to stick to steam.
This is not an Impulse specific issue, the root database server is down therefore these problems are coming up. There are several posts and announcements keeping people updated on the issue.
Is there somewhere else we can go to get a simple patch download? If not it shows poor management as it should not take over 24 hours to get a crashed database back on line or be able to download a patch.
its chrismtas eve/day its going to take them a while to find people who can fix the problem
This is ridiculous. Can't you just post the patch on the Sins website using the pre-Impulse verification system?
It's Christmas, for crying out loud
No, because there's no patcher. Impulse does a file comparison and over-writes changed files.
I have to agree with what's been said by your customers. Yes, this is Christmas, but it's the busiest time of the year for software purchases -- I just bought Sins and am reluctant to play the CD copy because there have been so many upgrades since 1.0 was released. You really need to call someone in from your team and fix this problem for all of us. It's ridiculous that we have this problem over the holiday period when we're all looking forward to playing your game after we spent good money purchasing it. Come on -- get it fixed, pleese!
I usually try not to be rude, but this deserves it:
You'll get over it.
Crap happens, things break. They're already giving 33% off to anyone who bought anything from yesterday to whenever they get it working.
I did not intend to be rude; I thought I was being very reasonable. If I upset you, I apologise.
Perhaps you could just update us on the status of the fix and when we can expect to have the issue resolved. Today, tomorrow? Then I can just shut my pc down and come back later. Thanks.
I will just repeat some points from other threads:
"We do have roll-over servers (which is why we have so little downtime normally) but in this case, the root roll-over control box is down as well. In normal circumstances, this would be a 30 minute thing.
But because of the timing, the actual people who know how to address something like this are scattered across the country for the holidays (one of the downsides of Stardock being located in Michigan is that most people here are originally from somewhere else so when there's a holiday, people leave the state to be with their families)."
it cant be coincedence
i bet santa think stardock has been bad this year
Odd... I was having trouble installing an impulse update too. Sure it's just this?
Ignore that please, I'm tired. I should really wake up before I post
[edited by me] apparently devs dont like me sharing the workaround for those with legit copies. well just wait till the servers are back up and pray impulse works for u.
Ah, Annatar11, I remember when you had less than 100 Karma. Now you have an even 200!
Samurye.
I'm still having problems with the download. The whole things downloads, but then it just keeps saying Verifying Download. It is very annoying since I really want to play this game with all the updates in place.
If it's stuck on verifying, try turning off your AntiVirus and/or closing Impulse and launching it with Admin privileges.
I just downloaded the latest Sins version 1.2 -- it was verified, directory created and I received the statement that it was successfullly installed. Where do I find it on my pc and how do I activate it? Do I need to use my orginal CD rom?
