OK. If you thought your childhood was bad because of your name then be grateful you were not born in this family. Oddly enough the little tyke looks a lot like Damien - Seriously!
I can see all the playground "fun" this poor sod will have especially if he grows up in any metropolitan area.
A follow up story is here.
The best conversations take years, not days, at least if you have any taste for detail and/or digression. But it's always good to bring a basic theme up bluntly now and then if a chat is going on for a while.
The basic themes I see in the OP are extreme parental incompetence and the legacy of Nazi Germany. I'm a lapsed-recovering postmodernist, so the irony is what has kept me sucked in and disgusted. From my above-average but still deeply inadequate historical understanding, I believe that if the Nazis had been successful, people who named their children after Lenin, Churchill, Mao, or Roosevelt would have been at minimum sterilized and their unfortunate offspring sent to 'camp.'
I mean, not that people would be named things like that in Germany if the Third Reich would've persisted, for a variety of reasons. Like many other nations (even to this day, including all Scandinavian nations, Germany, and others) you couldn't name your child anything you wanted.
The Nazis were a most foul sort of eugenicist political party chiefly characterized by both a penchant for using force to maintain authority and a flair for creating the sort of 'crisis' environment that inclines otherwise sensible people to yield their autonomy to a reassuring authority figure. Also, I'm an old-blood European American from the deep South, and I have no doubt that ascendant Nazis would have cold shot their version of the idiot parents behind the OP. I don't need scholars to support me on this point. I gots kinfolk.
On the odd European law(s?) about what you can name your kids, well, I'm very proud to share my citizenship with Moon Unit and Dweezil Zappa, at least on the 'funny' name point. I often think we'd be better off if everyone switched to one of those vision quest naming systems, where the way you marked becoming an adult was choosing a public name that actually meant something in your language. I'm sure plenty of my friends could get used to calling me Mostly Talks Too Much.
Could you imagine being the poor kid with that name, and sitting through history class, with the other kids looking back at you every time the name Adolf Hitler is mentioned? Gotta be worse than a spontaneous teen boner.
What you see is what you get.
That is what I “get” and it's clearly intended to fool no one. However you do try to fool folks into believing you have an opinion that matters and that’s where you fail miserably.
My response to you was hardly an attack on your persona. It was a dismissal of your persona as one beneath notice.
If the family were deemed unfit, the child would most likely be sent to a foster family - and that's still a pretty large "if", based around an inappropriate name.
Nor do I try to fool folks into believing I have an opinion that matters. My opinion doesn't matter more than anyone elses - that is to say, very little. I feel that it's much more important to help people towards sensability, logic, and discussion(s), than to have an opinion - especially an absolutist one.
I'm still not a big fan of abuse and curse words because they pretty much guarantee a less than amicable exchange (take for example our last exchange), however if it was ever deserved, Luckmann's response was it.
This doesn't mean that we're suddenly best buds but I at least will keep an open mind. Just keep in mind that I don't assume that I'm always right nor that I have any claim to sainthood, but I do tend to look askance at being called an idiot simply for holding a contrary opinion.
I don't, it was amusing. I'm an asshole. Calling you an idiot is like stating the sky is blue. I'm running off the assumption that, barring evidence to the contrary, everyone is an idiot, myself included. When someone starts talking about the evils of tree food in trace elements well below historical norms on a more relevant timeline... It's really hard not to be a dick in the face of that, especially since I know the greenies are breeding faster than I am.
Absolutism is irrelevant. The guy's just a run of the mill Neo-Nazi hate monger. Putting up the pretense of being a historian while trying to excuse his precious Aryan race from any blame doesn't make Zundel anything but. He's the lowest form of scum, lacking the balls to act on his vile outlook and settling for incitement of the idiot masses instead. I wouldn't have jailed the fucker only because in my perfect world, his type are summarily executed for annoying me. He's up there with the so called holy men telling the suicide bombers to blow up children so they can go to heaven.
If you want to make a valid point regarding the blame for WW2, you need to look into something resembling a legitimate, unbiased source. There is plenty of cause available. Ignoring the causes for Germany's dilapidated state, the British could have crushed him at the start if they weren't so intent on making peace. Indecision and cowardice are equally to blame with Hitler for the end result. Taking their revenge into consideration, it's France's fault that Germany was ripe for war. France is the spoiled child punishing the defeated for the beating they gave them the first time around. Without the economic repercussions from their victory in WW1, Hitler would have been more likely to be laughed at instead. At no point does a Jewish shadow government factor into reality here.
The fact that I bothered to engage you at all in a (perhaps misguided) attempt to cajole better behavior means that I haven’t dismissed you as a person unworthy of notice (unlike others here), at least just not yet.
BTW you wouldn’t happen to be Wheeloffire would you? No need to answer that.
After our last interchange I looked up a few of your replies and noticed that you use the word “fraktard” on occasion. I also noticed from your profile that your membership commenced less than one month after Wheel’s exile. That plus the confrontational style, but I’m sure that it’s just coincidence, it’s not like the world has any shortage of self-admitted assholes, although you would need to be a damn good asshole to measure up to Wheel.
However even with all of that I do, in perhaps some pathological way, miss Wheel.
Everyone needs a nemesis

OK guys. This thread is turning into a damn train wreck. Please let it die here and now.
What did you say CaptainYar? I can't read it.
Samurye.
You didn't put the lemon juice on your computer monitor's screen did you Samurye? He wrote it in invisible pixils. You need an acid to activate the text...
Ohhh.... all I have is super acid. I hope this dosen't melt my computer....
We're arguing on the internet.
This should be self explanatory.
Tree food, commonly known as CO2, incorrectly labeled as pollution by a billion plus idiots. Currently residing in Earths atmosphere at geologically insignificant trace amounts, theorized to be a starvation level that accounts for the last half a million years of cyclical ice ages that account for the vast majority of the time therein. Global Warming the theory is a bunch of horse shit, and I say that without the intent of insulting horses. I gave you a couple links in the more appropriate thread.
No idea who he is, my arrival coincides with entry into the Sins beta. If I get around to signing up I'll post frequently, but it takes an act of God to get me signed up short of an actual necessity, such as bug reporting. I've been using this handle where plain psycho is unavailable for the entirety of my online existence, you can follow me around to a couple other boards to test. I definitely have a few asshole posts on civfanatics, and assuming the boards are still up, infinite interactive and aelia-studios will give some historical perspective to my posting here. I'm pretty sure I've been pruned from Ubi by now, their old forums were the mother load in pedantic sarcasm laced with colorful metaphors.
As for fucktard, firstly it's shorter than fucking retard by quite a few keys. I'm lazy, no I can't reconcile that with my posts. It vexes me.
Second, and most importantly, those cunts at EA have filtered retarded and sucks, wonderfully appropriate words to describe them. I tend to get pissed at counter productive swear filters. Combining a foul mouth with the requirement to get creative to describe a fucking vacuum cleaner is just not a good idea. Ubisoft had me intentionally slinging unblocked combinations just because they were filtering suck and retard at one point too.
Filters are nice, they keep me out of trouble. Nazi filters(Edit: I hate puns... but I can't think of a better descriptor.) just give me the urge to firebomb the people running them. Although for some odd reason, I've yet to be permanently banned from a single board. Don't ask me why.
I'm guessing Wheel was banned? The name is vaguely familiar in conjunction with posts by admins. My actual account with Stardock dates back to Galciv I think, but I don't know if I registered with it or not, might have been GC2.
Sorry I'm not up for a long reply at the moment. I just did a long reply in the other thread in response to the links you provided. Sometimes you feel more energetic than others.
No. I'm not going to chase down your user name all across the internet. There is some resemblance but in the end we're all just funny nicknames with one kind of personality or another. Wheel, psycho what does it really matter?
Wheel was indeed banned due to the culmination of many things but the final straw was telling another forum member to go slit their wrists along with the claim that he was just kidding. The problem was that he really wasn't, kidding that is. He was certainly not without intelligence and could be a good friend if he respected you but he had a chip on his shoulder and his first response was always to shoot first and ask questions later. Sound familiar?
Ah ... Tree food, CO2, I get it now but without the hint I would have never got it in a million years.
To me arguing on the internet is not self explanatory but then I'm old and actually really don't care that much for the internet, at least not as a social environment. I've gotten old with the internet in a professional capacity, but generally it’s just a source of datasheets for electronic components. GC2 is unique in that it's pretty much the only game I play and most certainly the only reason I've participated in a forum environment. The only forums I visit are here and a few other related GC2 fan sites. It used to be different here but lately it's become more like the rest of the internet. Regrettable.
I do wonder how it affects people’s personality to grow up in the quasi anonymity of the internet and to flourish in a confrontational environment. That's why I assume that to you arguing on the internet is so self explanatory. Again I think that's regrettable.
As far as Wheel his favorite word was Fraktard. Frak from Battlestar Galactica’s word for the word I won’t repeat here at least and tard for retard.
This ended up much longer than I intended but perhaps it explains my context somewhat.
I believe he was referencing the saying about arguing on the internet: it's like the Special Olympics, even if you win you're still retarded.
Willy wins.
Also, shooting first and asking questions later is a good policy depending on the context, chips or not.
I mean you have a choice of two threads. In the Off Topic forum there's Globalization, Global Warming, and Overpopulation where the prevailing sentiment is that global warming exists and to some arguable extent is caused by human activity. Then on the other hand there's the AP is another Global Warming Alarmist thread over on Joe User where the prevailing sentiment is totally the opposite.
So you have a choice of two threads on the same topic, one of which predominately agrees with your position and the other that doesn't. Why is it that I suspect that you prefer to interact with the people that disagree with you who you've made it clear you consider to be morons and retards as opposed to those that do agree with you who by your standards must obviously be both a more intelligent and more reasonable crowd. Could it be that the point is not the topic nor is it an honest attempt to try and "educate" us poor morons and retards but your point for participating in a particular thread is more based on the opportunity for confrontation? How fraked up is that?
So tell me I'm wrong and that you aren't actually seeking out confrontation and therefore prefer the company of morons and retards over (arguably) more intelligent folks.
And for a second I thought I finally understood the entirety of at least *one* of your sentences but then comes "chips or not" and again I have no clue what you mean.
Chips or not, referring to chips on ones shoulder. Meaning, one doesn't need a chip on his shoulder to shoot first and ask questions later. If someone breaks into my house at night, they're dead. I don't need to have a grudge against society to kill them. Removing filth from the world is aiding society in its safety at a significantly reduced cost to a trial and incarceration, hardly the result of a grudge. If I were feeling nasty towards my neighbors, I'd let the bleeper go instead as long as I were sure of my own safety.
Also, read more of my posts, very occasionally I ask for clarification instead of lighting up my target. Besides, to my knowledge I've yet to shoot anyone in the literal sense. Haven't had the occasion to, no muggings, robberies or burglaries to deal with yet.
I became curious while posting the above F-bomb, question. What is the difference between saying the actual word and intending it while giving a substitution instead? With bleeper, I have the exact same meaning, same context, anyone with a dribble of wits knows exactly what it is, thus the only thing missing is a particular ordering of four letters. Am I wrong or are you following a completely pointless code of conduct just because?
Edit, oh right... the first question... I already said why I argue on the internet, it's amusing. I've also claimed no higher status over the rest of you, remember?
Edit again. I just realized there was a hole in my explanation. I haven't taken part in the positive thread on Joe User because I've never been to the Joe User section. Why would I? I come here to check on Sins mods and Elemental's development. I've been to those positive thread thingies before though, I usually end up in a flamewar with them too. So much inaccuracy, so little time.
One question. Do you have a life outside of forums?
In certain contexts I'll use the word and others like it however *not* on a site that includes numerous 13 year olds. It's just not appropriate.
Considering the thirteen year olds swear more than I do out of their mother's earshot, I don't cede your justification. Not to mention the ten year olds, and some of the five year olds...
Definition? I'd go for the classical one myself, wife, kids, job, car, house, etcetera. In which case, no. If you're meaning more literal, why yes, yes I do. In fact, outside of these few politically charged discussions, forums account for minutes of my day. I just happen to find this as amusing as anything else there is to do at 2am. I say forums loosely, rare is there more than one active forum on my list of places to regularly visit.
Drugs probably, lots and lots of drugs. Or maybe it's not doing drugs, flip a coin? Since you're one of the anointed, you hardly need to find it though. The whole point of being a liberal do-gooder is to help people whether they want it or not, never mind deserve it.
Slightly more seriously, when someone in favor of gun control started spouting nonsense like self defense is never an option, legally owned guns are used in crimes more often than illegal ones, police officers and innocent civilians get killed by conceal carry users on a daily basis, other insane drivel I'm relatively sure you don't believe. Would you, regardless of your stance on gun control, refute them? If they were in favor of your point and you wouldn't, is that not itself the same level of dishonesty as the liar spreading them?
If you do believe such drivel, I wont die of shock. I don't expect much from people that take Al Gore seriously. If you're pro gun, that might get me though. My world view will crumble in the face of such intelligent thought.
I can drop an F bomb with the best of them; just ask some of my fellow ToE empire members. But I don't cheapen it by using it every reply. You can generally express the same thoughts and emotions without it.
You on the other hand profess "So much inaccuracy, so little time" as if it's somehow your responsibility to correct all of it and it does appear, to me anyway, that there is no room in your philosophy for anyone that has any belief that you don't share. And yet you then intentionally seek out those that disagree with you apparently just so that you can call them morons because it amuses you.
I'll leave the judgment to the casual observer.
I don't understand your question. My stance on gun control is that everyone of legal age that is minimally competent (i.e. not legally retarded) and of responsible character (i.e. non-felon) that wants to own a gun should be able to do so, in fact I encourage it. Carrying around a concealed weapon I find to be a little more problematic but I can understand the motivation in certain circumstances. Where I would draw the line is in allowing unsupervised 13 year olds to handle loaded automatic weapons at gun shows thereby killing themselves. I also might be a little concerned if my neighbor felt compelled to own an Abrams tank, but I haven't given it all that much thought precisely where I draw the line at a neighborhood arms race.
If someone invades your home or attempts a carjack then most certainly defense of self and more importantly defense of your family is unquestionably a right. Shooting someone in the back on the way *out* your window I have a little more difficulty with but wouldn't really quibble too much about only wounding someone in that circumstance.
Does this somehow answer your question and if so what in god's name does it have to do with my global warming stance?
Wow i am more then ever glad to be a Candian. (Yes i know we are not perfect but wow the USA is getting scarier and scarier each year)
Those parents are so stupid/dumb/ignorant i lack the words to express it.
Plus that poor girl with her Aryan Nation in her name as well.
They may have the right to name thier kids what ever they want but apparntly they are unsure of thier right to brush thier teeth often.
To aid and abet the threadjacking, I have two comments: 1) psychoak definitely reminded me of Wheel, but his hot language is spiced differently, kind of like comparing a southern Indian curry to a Thai curry. 2) Wrangling with psychoak on a forum seems to be the typed equivalent of making a backyard wrestling ring and playing WWF. It can be good fun as long as you're interested, but it's never going to go anywhere serious, at least in terms of conclusions, consensus, or a league contract.
Hat-tip to M the M for reminding folks there's an OP up there, and especially for sticking that Canadian toe in the door for potential slamming. I'm a 'liberal' Floridian and I often feel like I have more in common with folks in a Montreal surburb than I do with the folks currently sitting in my state legislature. But y'all are basically insane in the end because where you live, water regularly turns solid without any applicances being involved. Ice. Outside. It's just wrong.
