Just a quick note that a bunch of modding requests are being worked but they aren't in Entrenchment beta 1 (which is also the case for some gameplay changes like the trade routes and some other thing I mentionned elsewhere). I hope to have them complete shortly after xmas and we'll make them public asap.
Next, there have been a number of very detailed questions from a variety of people (mostly modders) written to me in private messaging. I am able to read these but not respond. I wrote a public message recently to have people write me but I got zero responses. So if you are one of these people, (like EvilJedi) please c/p the messages and email me at bfraser@ironcladgames.com. I'll get to them all on the weekend.

Could you be a bit more detailed what are the manifest files, do you mean all the file in the gameinfo folder, because I did that and when I enable to the mod and click for the changes to be applied the game darkens and then freezes. what do I need to do to prevent this, is there a way to appy the mod via the EnabledMods.txt or is there something else I have to do to get the mod up and running?
i am attempting to update a full conversion mod from 1.05 to the most recent entrenchment update and i do not know how to do this or where to start. we have working models but i cant get them to work ingame and i really want to fix this.
I am getting a:
yes I have correctly updated the string, playerphase, and everything else.

EDIT: where the heck did this entitymanifest file come from? if my ship isn't in there, would that be the cause of this minidump?

the entirty ref error suggests that you have an error in your mod's entity.manifest with an entry starting with a lowercase z and that you do not have a matching entity filename. btw the dmps can tell a reader of them your processor type and model, your user name and windows serial number, so it might be best to rar or 7zip the dmps before emailing to support at ironcladgames.com.
I am advising based on my decades of experience debugging computers & programs.
the entity.manifest is one of the essential files for entrenchment so that entrenchment knows which files to load for the particular mod.
if you want my help on debugging your mod please pm me a link to a rar or 7zip of the entire mod folder and I will advise from what I know

I got everything I want to work in my mod with entrenchment except it won't clear this to load different meshes. Where are you guys hiding the secrets for us to make 6th and 7th ships in Entrenchment?
eviliron, from what I have read in the player*.entity files it is easy to add extra ships probably up to a total of 9 frigates,9 cruisers & 9 capitals per player race( i picked 9 from the number of openings in the default ui,but if you were to re-design the ui you might be able to make a larger limit).
I re-extend my offer to analyse your mod and try to help you debug it.

Hi everyone, i started after much time off to mod again and i found that so many things have changed since I last tried to mod anything! Firsti have the same issue of not being able to create new races(receiving the same minidump as Loki) and for some reason i cant even make new ships. I found that I have to make changes in the galaxyscenariodef but every time i change something i get a minidump, even when i change a working mod's galscendef. Same with ships, i can rewrite existing ones, change models and stuff, but i cant make new ones! If someone can help me please!(Oh yea, im using entrench v1.01)

Simple question for the modders:
How do you go and use custom music in the game? For example, is it possible to play the Star Wars: The Imperial March song in the game when I attack a hostile world or enemies attack my planet?

First you have to convert it into an .ogg file. You can do that by opening the song in audacity and then export it as an .ogg file. In this folder Vista: C:\Users\"your username"\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\ or XP: C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\
There will be some mod folders open the one that fits the version of your game and make a new folder with the name of your mod, could be star wars music. In that one make a folder named Sound. You then put your .ogg music file here. Now in order to make it replace the old music you have to name it exactly as the one you want to relpace.
You can find the original music in your install folder and then sound (if it is the expansion you want to edit, then first open he entrenchment folder then sound (note, don't make an entrenchment folder in your mod folder)). Then find the name of the song you want to replace (if there is more then just copy your star wars file and give them each their name). You can open and listen to the original music in audacity (though might be a little troublesome) or use vlc player. Now when you start your game go to options and your mod will be listed as you named it, which in my case will be star wars music, then enable it and apply.

Just a quick question, does this apply to replacing weapon sounds as well?
Yeah it does, any sound file that already excist can be replaced this way. However when you want to add new sounds you will have to edit some more files.
