Welcome to the beta test for Sins of a Solar Empire - Entrenchment! This micro-expansion is jam packed with enough features to qualify as a full fledged expansion pack, so we know it'll keep everyone busy for quite awhile. That said, this is a beta - put simply this is going to be very buggy and somewhat unbalanced.
If you don't want to deal with bugs, balance issues or providing feedback to improve the game please wait for the final release!
The Entrenchment beta is available in English only!

Keep in mind that this version of Entrenchment is not finished. We're at the beginning of the beta process, not the end.
Can somebody enlighten me why I did not get charged the 9.99 but a mere 12.87 when I bought Entrenchment two days ago? The addon is priced as 9.99 everywhere, yet Stardock charged my credit card nearly 13 dollars. Can this be right???
I suspected that, but does that mean that the price of the next mini-expansion will be higher?
Are you outside of the US? If so, it's Kalypso's prices
sad to hear that (you are way over budget), but it's not surprising considering when it was planned to be released. respect that you waited and improved until it was polished enough, not all developers do that.
and I agree. you do get a whole lot of content for the price. starbases alone are a huge addition and most importantly, the game plays different.
when would that have started? I remember I didn't pay as much and I'm not in the US. I was always a bit confused how Kalypso and Impulse coexist, or whatever.
I don't know the details of that, either. But they do somehow! Have you noticed that when you install Sins now, it asks you for the language? It probably checks your ip and figures out the price per their publishing agreement.
does it? I have a tendency of clicking away pop ups so fast and I rarely remember what they say. well, next time I'll try and and pay more attention.
Well it's not a problem if its 10 or 13 Dollars since it's a good bang for the buck anyway. But it would have been nice to know before you get your credit card statement. When I purchased (even my email receipt) it displayed 9.99? (the ? was supposed to be a currency symbol). I thought it would be a font problem and a seperate paragraph stated that the charge would be in USD.
So I somehow combined that ? should be $ and I'd pay 9.99$ - well I ended up paying 9.99 EUR - converted back to USD and converted back to EUR to be charged to my credit card.
Guess I've to be really really carful when (and if) I buy from Stardock again. It's not so much a matter of the acutal price (3 USD is not the world) but the uncertainty of the process not knowing how it might end up. After all ? could also mean russian rubel.
If I was in your shoes, I'd drop an email to sales@stardock.com and explain what happened. They are generally pretty open to suggestions. As far as I'm aware, it is supposed to show you the price in your currency at some point in the process, but you aren't the only one who was confused by it, so I'd say there might be some room for improvement still.
Interesting, I just went back to my VISA statement and found the same charge of $12.36. I don't really mind, though in principal I don't understand how it can be charged as anything more than $11.19--that is 9.99 + all applicable (BC PST and CAN GST) Canadian taxes. I know all you yanks are much accustomed to taxes on sales being very high, but here in Canada we pay near 15% (12% in BC, where IC is based) in most parts of the country on all purchases... the costs of a just health-care system I guess . Maybe taxation goes a little way towards explaining why above $10, though I still don't get why $12.36 -- especially as I am Canadian and no currency conversion rates or anything should have occured.
Now I'm really pissed. Now that the addon is released the store shows me the correct price converted into Euros. I's stands at 7.73 Euros now which pretty much equals the $-amount it should cost. And I could buy it for that now, I went all the way through the process but did not made the final click.
So why on earth did I get charged 3 Euros extra a few days ago? I contacted Stardock and see what they have to say. When they don't answer I'll let my cc-bank get the charge back.
I don't complain about the "loss" of 3 Euros but the fact that now it seems to work correctly again. And I'm more than reluctant to pay for system flaws and hickups.
Hi Private, please just send an email to sales@stardock.com and they'll work it out for you

Hello Hound,
Here is the d3dx9_36.dll : [removed]…download it and then extract the downloaded zip file to the system32 folder which is located in windows folder (that is located in your main drive which contains the installed windows)
Thanks for offering help but that request is about two years old.
Methinks it's most likely just viruses/spam.
Got it.
