You're not reading it quite right, i was a "future-mastermind", gathering the power necessary for world domination and evil-doing, bla bla bla ...

Then, i realized I just wasn't made for the job, so i stopped being a "future-mastermind", thus becoming and "ex-future-mastermind" , and instead of trying to dominate the world i just play video games and paint my warhammer 40.000 army.

This explanation seems cristal clear to me, so you should understand what I mean by now.
