All caps go down in a matter of seconds. That doesn't justify one of them having an uber ability compared to the rest.

I don't think 20 seconds should be an issue because it's not long enough for the targeted fleet to be moved out of range before getting destroyed or taking massive damage.
It might give a big window to counter it but you can always bring a Dunov along to take care of an enemy cap with counterabilities.
Anyway the point is not whether or not Missile Barrage can be countered. The point is that it is so much more powerful than any other level 6 ability.
The question is why would one cap deserve to be so much more powerful than the rest?

Ah I remember back when I was a wee lad... My Aunt Marza would come over and pelt me with rocks until I fell over unconscious. Then when I came to she'd kick me below the belt and call me a noob.
When compared to the other cap ships individually, I agree that the Marza's lvl6 ability seems very over powered. There's more to winning the game than capships though. When you stack up 500 fleet points worth of balanced fleets from each of the three races, the TEC will lose vs either of the other two most of the time. The basic TEC strategy is to out-produce your opponents since you will lose more ships then either other race. Even if a battle can be called a victory, the TEC still loses large numbers of ships, often equal to or greater than the number of ships lost by the "losing" fleet (unless they have crushing numerical superiority on their side). Taking this into account, the TEC can hold it's own with the other races when defending, but when their fleets move away from their frigate factories their ships are hemmoraged away rapidly making it difficult, and sometimes impossible, to mount any real offense.
That said, the TEC fleet needed some real hitting power that would allow them to be able to engage other comparably sized fleets offensively with a chance of having enough fleet left after the fight to linger in enemy territory and wait for reinforcements, capture planets, whatever the mission goal is. Otherwise: after each engagement, the fleet has to return to friendly space in order to be rebuilt before it can return to enemy space, by which time the enemies have rebuilt their fleet and it becomes an unbreakable standoff (at least until the other side decides to attack, then it's just a matter of time). That hitting power somes from the lvl6 abilities of the TEC's capitol ships.
Knowing this as the TEC means that (against an opponent familiar with TEC strategies) every one of those capships you build (especially Marzas, Dunovs and Kols) are huge bullseyes that will pretty much just draw fire and never see lvl6. I don't want to see a whole lot change though, because that would reduce the different flavors the different races have. The TEC are obviously the underdogs in this game, and every underdog needs a "Hail Mary" in their playbook, I think that the dunov's flux, missile barrage and finest hour are the hail mary plays for the TEC and need to be there.
If there's still too many people unhappy with the balance, and I had to change something; I would NOT reduce the TEC's abilities, but increase the # of ships affected or otherwise buff up the other race's caps. Honestly though, I like the balancing the way it is, it provides flavor to the different races and forces players to consider what their strategic tendencies are when selecting a race.

This seems to be the only answer. I'd like to have a reason to build other TEC caps besides Marzas and the odd Dunov for Magnetize/EMP because the *Marza* demands it.
Balance Missile Barrage now, please.
I'd say Advent mothership's shield regen is 4x more overpowered than Mazda's missile barrage (and hey regen is not even level 6 ability!)
We always new Marza was going to be trouble when he grew up. Of course he was bigger and meaner than everyone else in elementary, but it was more than that.... once he took out an entire class of 3rd graders AND two playground attendents at the same time! Don't get me wrong, it was good entertainment, which is pretty hard to find when you are 6 and stuck in public school, but it got old sometimes. My friends and I would glumly watch in amazement from the top of the slide, jungle gym, or monkey bars until it was again safe. Which wasn't often, I might add.
I thought we had seen the last of Marza after the Chuck E Cheese incident, but it wasn't to be. He keeps popping up from time to time, though I learned to keep my eyes open long ago and I have always left before he noticed me. Once at a Foot Locker at the mall. Once cooking his own hamburgers at a local fast food joint...not sure where the staff went? Once I saw him at a club...not changed a bit, beating down the valets. Just last month he was at my barber, which really sucks .... I have to find a new guy to cut my hair.

its not overpowered as it was, but if enemy lets you eco alone and get it, you won anyways because your opponen is total crap.

marza ability is overpowerd... way overpowerd, any enemy ships inside its radious with less then 500 health 200 shield "could me more.. but atleast 500 health" dies, i used this on an oponent massing LRF's, regular 1.05 lrf spam.. me having 1 marza lvl 5, i enterd thte battle with 25 lrf's 8 carriers 15 hoshiko's vs over 100 lrf's they all foccused fire onto my hoshiko's first, after i lost all of those, my cap ship advanced in lvl with176 antimatter, used my ability, and LRF's mass exploded instantly after around 15 seconds of missle barrage
guy got mad and i surrenderd afterwards, saying marza has an imba ability and he should have won that fight easily
he agreed and he's on my friendlist -. - we play games together.. and even did a succesfull marza spam once now that's buddies
To be exakt, half shield and half armor upgradet Illuminators (15%) and max upgradet assilants are only LRF's that survives barrage unaidet.
If the forces are progenitor shield repped or repair cludet, all ships will survive on low healt.
So if you are not compleat turd, you can always run, iven if cought your pants down.
No other level 6 ability instantly decides a big battle once you get it off.
The new Missile Barrage was a fun novelty for a while, now it needs to go. I'm sure we'll miss it.

You'll notice reading through this thread that when surviving lrf possibilities are listed the tec lrf (the lrm javelis) is never listed. Why? Because tec ships are generally weaker. I'm not saying a good tec player cant win without the marza, as I have done so often, but if you have to nerf the marza because none of the other race cap ship abilities are comparable (a theory I'm not all to sure about) then you should rework all of tec so that it is competitive without the marza.
