If they implemented this, it would be very cool!
Put simply - as your demigod levels up, there will be visual changes to make him look more powerful/different!
E.g. Demigods will look as they do at present, from levels 1-10. However, upon reaching level 10, they look slightly different (e.g. more armour plating, or the torchbearer gets a sicker looking torch)...and upon lvl 25, will look even more deadlier!
Visual changes would occur at:
lvl 10 -minor changes e.g. a slightly different looking crossbow for regulas, or bigger fangs for unclean beast
lvl 20 -slightly more visual change - perhaps a change in the apparel side of things e.g. a more elaborate/ornate breastplate for regulas (but this shouldn't conflict with the 'minor' change made at lvl 10 - this should still be visible.
lvl 25 -entirely new appearance (e.g. a totally epic looking crossbow for regulas, even more ornate breastplate).
I think this would be awesome!
Anyone else think Oak looks like Rook's lil brother?
Damnit , this BETTER be implemented into DG. More customization sets each DG player apart, and isn't that part of the coolness factor? You don't want to run around with the knowledge that anyone could be like you in every way. That someone could completely copy you makes you feel a bit... sad Not to mention the premise of DG was that the characters wanted to become gods, so why not have evidence of their progress on the battlefield?
It wont be put in It would cost a fortune. As we said earlier.
AT MOST it MIGHT require additional character modelling and/or a little bit of added program complexity. Doing so MIGHT even delay the release slightly. However, I disagree with the sentiment that it would "cost a fortune". But I suppose it depends on one's definition of "a fortune".
Really, though, some types of visual changes in characters are more easily implemented than others. I think if you can avoid (or nearly avoid) making new models and meshes and minimize changes in code, then it should be less time consuming. For instance, having changes to character textures should at least be straightforward. (It's not difficult to use Photoshop to alter the colors of textures.) As others suggested, even visual differences with aura-like particle effects should be doable.
But I think the most obvious visual difference possible is overlooked by everyone in this thread. If you want a visual change for level progression:
JUST INCREASE THE ENTIRE DEMIGOD'S SIZE!
This could be implemented easily by either having the game switch to larger versions of the character mesh as it levels, or by having the game engine interpret the character mesh size differently.
first of all we mentioned all u said size changes included. furthermore i think I was talking about a previous response that makeing Rook for example transform into what he is now would cost a fortune. Right now creating each demigod costs 100,000 now times that for by 40 ( each demigod times each additional aperance) thats 4,000,000. I'd say thats a fortune. It might only cost 2,000,000 because they have some were to start from but still thats alot of money just for those small apearances.
