I almost stand up against Bear cavalry in this game. Personaly, I have no dissafection for anyone that want it but I have for the way that was used to propose it. When I saw this suggestion for the first time it seemed to me one like many others like it should be; or should it be better called just a wish since it does not aim for the game desenvolment? But anyway, I thought that was just ok.
It's ok that someone create a topic and puts on the title: "Please, have chocobos in this game ". He is probably personaly fisured by chocobos and would like that in the game, then he makes a topic to tell it and see other people reactions and if they would also like Chocobos. He say how he feels that is cool, players give theirs and that should be the end of it. At least he is sincere, direct and isn't manipulative.
But that is not what a couple of guys that want Bear cavalry in this game choosed to do. They have been trying to disseminate it throughout the forum in a political way. It have gone so far has to make public Avatars editing the official image of a mounted soldier, to mount a Bear instead. That could be ok if it was edited to mount other more creatures, but it was only the Bear and variations of Bears, because the motive of that is to promote more the Bear mount image and they are still doing that(and trying to convince others to want it). It's being boring to even read 'Bear' around here.
I'll be short about this. My protest is that because someone or a couple or whatever "loudly" asks for what they want, especially regarding something that has nothing to do with the game desenvolment, they should not be overheared if not even heared at all.
It should be the contrary even, has the Chocobo player was much more polite in trying to have what he wants. Its a huge mistake to support the "loud" over the more polite. Actualy many people are yet more polite to never or continualy propose particular issues like this, has obvious, you can find people fond of Linch Kings, Hydras, Mounted Dragons, Pegasi, Elves, Orcs, Unicorns, Hobbits and they will not stress it since they know probably more than a million other players that also disire things will be playing the same game and because there is no place for this.
[I beg developers if they ever think to listen about objects that players want, to please make a offical section, or even a topic or even yet a poll with many creatures so everyone can participate. Just please don't hear those and think the others don't have particular wishes they would want, because many have; Its just that they understand how trivial it is for the conjuncture, but would gladly say so if it was asked or if they had a specific place for it.]

To the guy that wrote that: That is so false, that many games like MMORPG's mounts for exemple do not feature Bears (and have many types) and there even isn't a sighlty strong wish for it, it is just happening in this forum. Why exacly so? That's the motive I did this. That might be what you and a few strongly like, and probably you and a couple more are just the kind of 'blind follower' type. It came just random, It stayed on you because you gave to much attention to what some people - that want it so much - said a lot, has they wanted to.
There never happened a democratic evaluation has of what creature (mount or not) or unit is prefered within players, not to count many others are still to come.
I even feel against Bear cavalry in this game, not because I don't like bears, but because of the atittude they took towards it; how loudly have some been proposing it. I just beg developers to make it democratic (like when what extra mount to add or something) if you ever want to listen to something like that, don't take this couple of guys attitude has speaking for the utmost wish of many, thats not the case.

You know I think this is a silly discussion anyways, because Frogboy has already stated that the game will be extremely moddable anyways. So those who want bears will have bears, regardless of their orignal inclusion in the game or not. And yes, with modding you would in turn be able to take them out FlyGuy

I had planned to stay out of this, but I want to voice my opinion because I relized part of it seems to particuly address me.
I only support the bear idea because everybody seems to like bears and they are pretty cool. I don't think it causes harm, so why is there a problem? I like bears, who doesn't like bears. Also, I have plans for sky shark and pink ponies avatars, thank-you-very-much. If you want something other than bear cavalry, just ask. I'm not descriminating against other mounts, in fact I think we all were supporting other ideas just as everything else.
I just am usually only motivated to create like 2 avatars at a time and I haven't gotten any requests for them even though I offered. Avatars take a long time quite a bit of effort to make, dispite the cheap coloring jobs that are my work. Just for you, flyguy. I'll have my other avatars up by the end of the night.
Bears stand as an example as well. I think we all can relate to a bear, so when discussing trade or other ideas, bears are easy and down to earth. Elephants are hard to type, and bizzaro earth mount creature is hard to understand. So we stick with 'bears'

@landisaurus Don't worry, I just felt pressured by it has I'm also going to buy the game. What I said is really only suggestive for Stardock to hear that petition has they hear others (do not mistake that) or let everyone opine. Anyway I guess there will be many types of mounts like RisingLegend said.
When it began to turn into "Everyone wants a Bear" and "Everyone needs a Bear" that it really began to bother me has I was seeing Bear promotion everyday. Could it have been a varied on going poll about it later on so that noone would feel displaced or droped.

I'm sure stardock understands that people all want to see their own fantasy creatures. Everybody knows that you can't just listen to the "loud" members of forums, since usually the happy ones are the ones that make the least noise. However, I think its pretty clear that everybody loves a bear. Look at winter song's image, a horrible bear with a gun protecting a little girl. Between care bears, teddy bears, death bears, pot bears... everybody loves bears! I don't think that doesn't mean that they would ignore other opinions. So I still stand that bears should be official. Sky sharks arn't as lovable as bears, though they are as fearsome. Giant snakes are strange to animate and might be a part of feature creep. And Bird or flying horse mounts may be cuddly, but they don't have that resounding "i'm a badass because I'm on one of these!" feeling. So, that is why I support Bears as to be the leaders of the non-horse cavalry.
And they obviously want to see everybody get their wish, which is why they are creating the user-created-content thing that lets us all share the armies and races we create. I promise that no matter what, I will see bear cavalry and sky sharks at war in my game.

Official because you both have been making it to be. First of all there should not be this horse excluding thing, is it because Luckmann-want-it-all dislikes it?. There are horses, unicorns, then bears, panda or so, boars, bipede bird, giant cats(felines), the creature shouldn't really matter, but a big participation do.

I don't think anybody ever said that bears were the only cool creature. though Big-cat mounts have had enough center piece from warcraft 3 and WoW. Not to mention Amazon Sabertooth riders and other similar archetypes. They are pretty fearsome for sure. It makes me think of Tigertron from Beast wars
Bears have less spotlight then cats. They also had war bears in MoM, so it could be the sequal to the MoM bears.
You either didn't read that whole thread, didn't understand it, or are intentionally quoting him out of context. He was having a discussion with somebody (I don't remember who) about realistic mounts. Completely unrelated to whether or not they could/should be in the game. Luckmann has supported other types of mounts specifically and generally on multiple occasions.
No offense, but I'm beginning to think that the entire reason for the existence of this thread is due to your language barrier, FlyGuy. I think you are misunderstanding posts, not seeing sarcasm and not understanding jokes. And likewise, we have a hard time understanding your posts because of the made up words and poor grammar.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you're participating in the forums, and you've made good suggestions and contributions. But I'd suggest that in the future, don't get so offended by what people write on forums, and don't be so dramatic about it. I'll remove that then. No it's not language barrier that was just something that I had quoted. There he called Horses stupid, ordinary mounts and promoted Bears. Well, that some people like horses should come to mind. If a Horse is stupid, a Bear is no more IMO. The whole Bear was arbitrary and you guys are trying to elevate that has an official thing. Not even many players were consulted or a poll was made. It was just a small club promoting it. Thats not fun at all. Not everyone just wish Bears, also they should not talk for everybody else. Well, right there, you misunderstand. NOONE is saying thet there should only be bears, not even Luckman is. A lot of us just all enjoy the idea of having different mounts. Yes, bears are very prominent on the forums, but is closely followed by pagasi and tigers. Reason bears are so prominent is probably because it hasn't been used NEARLY as much as mounts in other games as the aforementioned pegasi and tigers. I think Red Alert 3 had them?

This is not a democracy. There shouldn't be a vote. It's a movement of the individual, where Stardock ultimately decides what goes into the game or not. If a number of individuals choose to support a certain idea, wheter it's just bear cavalry or as me, a multitude of 'average' mounts, doesn't have anything to do with the majority.

FlyGuy completely missed the point of what the "bear cavalry" is. It's not an attempt to say "OMG, PUT BEARS IN THE GAME!". It's a suggestion to allow more exotic unit creation besides "Guy on horse".

It is not only unfair, but going with this Bear thing will not be fun forever. Understand, there are participants in the forum that like other kinds. Like the bear, but use of an attitude to ingrate all, and all users. Don't exaggerate over one thing or some people will be droped out. If you guys want to have Bears to be maskot or whatever, vote for it. THIS IS FIRST A COMMUNITY. Thats the important thing. Mounts are important in this game and by that many can feel excluded. The good of all if not what we like, but what the group likes. I would feel much better seeing a bunch of mounts together than just what I want for sure.
