Impulse offers Sacred 2 for sale, digital download only. If they offered to ship out a boxed copy as with Sins and Demigod I would have ordered it immediately, especially after my experience with Amazon.
Here in Canada we are forced to sit and wait for a stupid bilingual edition of the game. Part of this enforcement is the concept to Amazon.com that we are a seperate region from the rest of North America, and they therefore cannot fulfill my order of the english version that is already out. This infuriates me. I have no use for the French additions... I am Canadian, but I grew up in an era when bilingualism here was a generally new promotion via the school system. Besides... I don`t need dual-language support. I however just cannot bring myself to purchase a digital thing minus the safeguard of a physical property.
Damn it.
Sadly, since Sacred 2 comes with the limited-install securom thing, the "safeguard" of a DVD in your posession would not mean much either. I'd recommend getting it via Impulse anyway.
I'd have bought Sacred 2 via Impulse myself if it hadn't come out here in Europe on DVD earlier. (and if I'd known it would become available on Impulse) I'm more afraid of my DVDs getting damaged than I am of any possible Impulse malfunctions.
Stardock can't send out boxes of other publishers, though All they have rights to sell are the digital versions of all the games. The only boxes they can send out are the ones they make themselves for their games
Also, the French are awesome.
Getting Boxed copies shipped from Stardock to Canada is lame. I got a copy of Sins sent by box and it cost me an extra $30. How many times have I used those disks?
ZERO
ZERO TIMES.
The poster was nice... but still.
Most of that charge wasn't Stardock either...
[Edit]: Basically, digital distribution is the way of the future. Discs are a dead medium.
No, this is why the French are awesome: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-564139/Ooh-la-la-Sarkozys-aide-publishes-voyeurs-guide-best-spots-leer-French-women.html
In no other country could a government official write a book on where to peek at women and get away with it.
Yea I know - I`m more fuming over the sudden distinction of "region". The US and Canada have always been the North American region as far as I can recall... until now. Terrifically inconvenient and nonsensical.
Oh, Annatar, right so often, yet so wrong. french. -1 karma
Aren't Canada, USA, and Mexico all the same DVD region? Or is it the problem that Canada's government officially is bilingual? It's kind of silly that Amazon will refuse to make money.
Well, thats right - thats why I find it wierd and silly that all of a sudden I cannot order an english-only version of something... . Canada is bilingual, but that has never prohibitted trade traffic before. I can`t imagine the US holding back imports until they featured both english and spanish erratta. Well, I guess the 2nd is soon enough (Sacred 2 release up here... I think...).
I'm surprised that StarDock & Ironclad do not employ watchful moderators who will filter such filth.
I'm a French-Canadian, and I find this whole thread childish -- in the pedophobic sense of the word.

On a personal note I assume that most of these comments are made "tongue in cheek". It's a good idea for those trying to be funny to remember that humor does not always communicate well even with the use of emoticons.
Move along, citizen.

bye bye tourist.
I must ask myself; Why was my posts removed? There was nothing inherently offensive about them, unless people actually take "The French Surrenders"-jokes seriously.
Talk about getting the panties in a twist..
It also makes all my posts out of context
But the most amusing thing is that Sorceress' post is left intact with the supposed offensive quote
That's France French people, though. Quebec French people are not the same, speaking as a Canadian. The general rule is that Amazon.com doesn't ship things up here. Amazon.ca is pathetically lame.
There is some rules about bilingual packaging, but there isn't one about the game itself. If the game is being delayed because they want it to be bilingual, it's because they find it cheaper then releasing a translated copy later.
Your best way around the problem right now is to buy it with Impulse and then immediately archive it, so you have a physical copy.
Of course, they're Canadians!
That's like, south of us right?
Are there some French players from France around here ? ?
We can annex that, too.
