When i first heard about Elemental i was totally psyched. And when i heard it was a sort of "hommage" or whatever for the Master of Magic game I did a little search. (Too young to have heard of it before ) What I found to my great suprise was that you can download it for free. You will need a DOS emulator, but all of that is explained on the site.
Most of you probably know of this, but i thought it was worth mentioning just in case.

I highly recommend MoM to anyone out there. I use DosBox to run the game on windows xp and it works perfectly, sound and all.
I was fooled to pay 6 £ for it a few days ago....
If this isn't SOUL I don't know what is!
How about abandonware ? Not exactly legal as far as i know.. especially when stardock had to try and obtain the rights from someone.. and if it is still being sold...
It's abandonware. It's a seriously "grey" area that no-one care about. It's not "exactly" legal, but it's not "exactly" illegal either, since no-one enforces the legality, or persecutes the abandonwarists (normally). I'd say that it's definately Stardock's call if it's alright to have this on their forums, but seeing how abandonware is generally impossible to find or buy with anything short of Piracy, the morals of the matter is entirely clear, at least to me.
Anyone who whines about abandonware being "illegal" should be keelhauled like the landlubbers they are, yarr.
With bears?
You gotta drop the bears, Annatar!
The first game that had an encyclopedia-sized strategy guide which was surprisingly entertaining to read.
Bears is his thing. I'm just playing along.
The user guide is here. All 156 pages of it in pdf goodness.
The Strategy guide weighs in at 460+ pages. You can see it on Amazon here. Some whack job is selling a "new" version for well over $200 USD now. I wonder if EWoM has anything to do with that price. Anyway the size of these things compared to what we get now is telling of the industry and its focus on product support and development.
Update:
[@SD - not sure if some of the documents are legal or not so please remove if you feel the page is in error]
You can get all the documents for MoM from MoM.net the documents download page is here.
Even though the concept of abandonware is a very gray area, Atari does still hold the rights to the IP/game and as they have not themselves released a free copy of the game, we have to discourage spreading download links here.
I've removed the link from the top of the thread and locked the topic.
I know everyone's jazzed about Elemental and want to get in some fun with MoM before the beta comes out, but we can't have folks swapping download links on the forums. Sorry.
