Yup that's right.
I guess I'll start reading it. There's alot there! Thanks guys!
Can someone tell us, in plain English, what the patch will do exactly for play balance. Specifically, what will the final 1.1 do for Fighters/Bombers/Carriers, as 1.09 we think there are just way to many SK, and Flak seems to do little to prevent this, so the majority of our fleet ends up behing SC.
And any other play balance changes you think all the "stats" listed will change the game.
P.S. We already figured out that ships starting with full antimatter means cap colony ships will be less needed now.
1. You must use some type of mixed fleets now, and carriers most likely will be part of the mix. A pure spam of one type of ship, even carriers, will lose you the game against an equally skilled opponent. However, you can still beat up less skilled opponents using whatever ship spam you prefer.
2. Vasari RA rushing is not as powerful as it once was.
3. TEC is a little more competitive than they used to be -- though possibly still weaker than Advent endgame, it is not as bad as it used to be.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!
I was waiting for this... It will make my proximity mines (and affected ships) explode in the right order, and while they are still in range of one another... (I had reservations of releasing them before "1.1 proper")
Two days until the patch... ha-frickin-zah. Wow I can't wait to pdate my mod with 1.1 and what not. Now all i need is to get paid so i can preorder for the BETA...
this is questioning since australia is roughly 1 day and a half ahead of the uk, US, Could someone please inform me weather a patch will come out for australia on the 18th which is tomorrow ?.
I would also ask if there is a way to switch between servers for those who brought the entichment addon from beta to 1.1 final or are they compatible with eatch other ?.
I have. No new content. Better rendering etc. is NOT content. It's eye candy and doens't really add to the gameplay.
Agreed.
*waits for the attack dog to be released*
It'll be attack hamsters. To each their own, but ultimately I fail to see the reason to complain about a patch you don't pay for
For me, even the new explosions are a gameplay improvement (ie content). They look pretty enough that I don't want to use a mod like Bailknight's for the effects and am even more content to play vanilla The new underground window streamlines the black market interactions considerably, I can't tell you how many times I missed the pirate raid notices when they couldn't easily be seen without opening the diplomacy screen.
Erm, actually I did when I bought the game. I suppose I don't have to quote right 3 of the Gamer's Bill of Rights do I? And I indicate this right not as an argument as to the meaning of the word 'meaningful' but rather that patches are expected and are paid for.
p.s. stop retrospectively editing your posts.
It didn't change the meaning, and I edited before there were any replies
Now, if you don't think this is a "meaningful" update, then I'm not going to spend time arguing with you because it's not going to go anywhere, so let's leave it at that. It's fairly obvious most people (at least in this thread) disagree with you.
I can't believe you are forcing me to quote myself, specifically the following line, "And I indicate this right NOT as an argument as to the meaning of the word 'meaningful' ". Please read my post before lambasting me.
p.s. Stop trying to orientate the discussion in your favour. Stay on topic and address the point you levied at me..namely that I should not expect a patch nor that I paid for such a patch
p.p.s as you edited your post after I replied, in this p.p.s I would like to say that just because the majority POSTING in this thread may not be of my opinion (maybe they missed the IRC comments and other comments of actual 'content' for 1.1?), that does not mean that they are correct.
I'm a little lost on what this argument is about.....this isn't a "content" patch. It is, however, a HUGE patch with many enchancements, balance tweaks, and most of the hard to find bugs have been located and squashed. It is going to do a lot for the game.
Entrenchment is the "content" addition.
That's probably where the argument is. If it's not a bug fix or balance change, it's content. A new model is content. New effects is content. They add new things to the game. It's not "shiny new units" level of content, but if someone expects that on a constant basis as a freebie they're probably kidding themselves.
They didn't promise anything on IRC or elsewhere that they excluded from the patch.
OK, just making sure I understood that people were arguing about the definition of "content".....carry on!
<< tip toes quietly back to the command bridge >>
It's Monday, I needed my fix. But I'm done now!
Guess I bought the game too late (less than 4 weeks ago?) to have my findings make it to 1.1.
Darn
Still, it is good to actually see that you guys are doing the job.In the industry that prefers dropping bug fixing as soon as their calculations say it isn't really profitable, it is nice to know Sins do have a future.gj, keep it up
edit. to Tkins below - scan the Beta Feedback forum for threads that I created.edit. to annatar below-er - yay ^^ .
What were your findings?
Well, the Assault Spec/Jam Weapons fix should make it into the release tomorrow, it's just that the notes were posted before Blair fixed it
Maximum number of buildable capital ships types per race increased from 5 to 9.
To clarify: There are still only 5 cap ships in game, but modders can now create and add 4 additional ones- right?
Yeah that's right.
Patches are definitely "paid for", generally speaking. Because they are usually released so that the game runs as it should. This patch IS VERY meaningful, there is no doubt about that.
All I said is that the incoming "expansions" are so small that by Stardock's usual standards they would be a regular and free game update. That is ALL I'm saying, no hidden meanings. One can't argue their right to sell it this time. Not even when two small ones are being sold separately...
EDIT: As far as content goes, a better effect is by no standards CONTENT. It was there before, just slightly different. If it wasn't it was a bug.
A new ship, station, research etc. with new role on the other hand does change gameplay so it IS content.
5 cap ships? what part of comon sence you guys have lost? Sorry, but as i understand it, its 1 + (1 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 3 + 3) = 1 + 15 = 16
I dont see here eny "5 capital ships" or "9 capital ships"! I bet i am missing the point...?
Yes Each race has 5 capital ships they can build. Modders since the beginning wanted to add more, and even though the second "row" on the capital ship factory UI was empty, no new ships could be added. So IC changed the code to allow modders to add up to 9 capital ships to the factory for construction.
So each race still builds 5 ships, but mods can have up to 9.
