When someone thinks of cereal, how the iconic tiger labeled box doesn't pop into one's head almost immediately is beyond me. The sweet frosting covering the crispy corn flakes is like the perfect marriage of sweet and crispy. The only way I anyone could make a similar combination of the two would be to directly wired ones mouth to some type of electrodes which simulate Frosted Flakes. This would probably take longer to set up than to actually just eat Frosted Flakes.
That being said, why would anyone ever want to try any cereal that’s not Frosted Flakes? If you don’t what a cereal that’s crispy, you should probably be eating oatmeal with the rest of the denture wearers. If you don’t want a cereal that’s sweet, you should probably be eating a toasted bread crumbs in a bowl of milk. Sounds delightful!
Perhaps your thinking some other cereal would provide another equally pleasant experience. You’d be wrong. Wheat and Rice based cereals get soggy far too fast. So all you’re really left with is corn. Yes, we know there are some of you out there that think cereal can be made from other types of grain that most people have never heard of, so, it must be good. But when it comes to food, the reason most people have never of it is because it sucks. The same reasoning behind spotted dick is not popular here in the United States. It’s horrid. To the point that I wonder if the people in the UK actually like it or they’re just making it as an excuse to say the name. End digression. As I was saying, you’re really only left corn.
Let’s suppose you want to make a cereal and your smart enough to use corn, but, you’re clueless on what style or shape. One idea to try could be the puffed/popped shape. If that’s the case, you probably like popcorn. And you have to make it sweet. So you’re going to have to make something like caramel or kettle corn. And you’re going to take this pour it in a bowl and add milk? If that’s a good idea, then, I suppose you’d also like the texture and taste of sugar coded Styrofoam. Aside from the possible poisonous side effects, I’m pretty sure it would amount to the same thing. If a cereal maker does figure out how to make edible Styrofoam he’s going to make a fortune off you.
Let’s face it, there are very few things in this life that a simple and great. And we as human being should be grateful that we have been lucky enough to find them. Of this short list in our long history, Frosted Flakes is among the top.
Then stay away from dat Ovaltine Aus
Oh, and the topic title, about Frosted Flakes, I HATE 'EM, hate Corn Flakes, and ANY other kind of flake, except the chocolate flake
Did your folks never tell you Bran Flakes will keep you regular.
No Ovaltine here I prefer milk, Bourneville cocao, Horlicks malt and ice-cream blended into a big chocolate vitamin pill, maybe add a banana to it for Potassium.
hehe I don't mind bran itself, you know, the stuff that looks like hamster food
Oh Aus, I remember Horlicks, I wasn't too keen on that.. I tried it for my insomnia, as it was alway's advertised as a drink to help you sleep, what a crock!
Frosted Flakes 1rst. and Corn Flakes 2nd. Grreeaaaat!!!
Forget cereal. Dunkin Donuts Boston Cremes and a large coffee with cream. Breakfast of champions!
I LOVE JAFFA POPS!
Could somebody tell me if Krispy Creme's are all they are made out to be because I hear folks rave about them, I hate icing, just plain donuts.. and we've only had the Krispy Creme's in AU for a few years.. I've been asking my kid everytime he goes out to get me one, but he never does
I prefer the breakfasts in Germany, something decadent and civil having chocolate cake for breakfast.
Boston Cream Pie is awesome, forget instilling its cream into donuts.
Cinnabon are better than Krusty'S kreem IMHO.
They come in freezer section too for you to bake at home.
Nestle Malt powder better than Horlicks but it aint here.
Sounds YUM!!! .... I shouldn't be eating this stuff having Diabetes
Tailsgirl, I am no fan of the Krispy Cremes. They're just too darn heavy and sweet. I don't think the universe meant for us to deep fry something, glaze it, and then frost it, too! They're proof that there CAN BE too much of a good thing. People around here love them (I think it's a southern thing). I did love watching them being made in the "glassed in donut birthing palace" when I lived in Gulfport, Mississippi, at the little Krispy Creme store there, but I don't enjoy their flavor. Gut bombs, would be the choice of words that I would give them.
well he's doing you a favour....they are just plain foul....
given them 3 chances.....once a lass bought a box into the office when they first arrived in Oz..all types....yuk
once...in the city....thought i'd try fresh made....disgusting.....you could smell the oil from a city block away....just foul..
and out at the international terminal little while back...thought I'd see if they improved...had one with a coffee....tasted the foul oil for the rest of the day.....NEVER again...they have nothing going for them....
do yourself a favour....stick to Doughnut King....10,000% better...
and here...is probably one reason why....their product is so unpalatable...
but oil aside....texture...and flavours.......
Edit
Krispy Kreme vs Donut King.....lol first comment is spot on....
That oil needs to be banned everywhere.
MSG banned in Japan but not in lots of Asian Takeaways everywhere else.
Chevron still advertising their fuel cleans the air yet CA has notices everywhere in carparks that all gas byproducts of combustion contain carbon monoxide and countless other carcinogens
We need the TRUTH on everything.
Then I'm outta luck guys, I don't like Donut King.. well I only really like cinnamon donuts, and I liked the look of deep fried Creme's, that's why I was curious about them hehe, I'll stick to my plain ones, they rock, actually, they ARE from Donut King [doh!] so I retract that, Donut King are good! it's the iced donuts that are yuk
I try and avoid Palm oil as well.....
Krispy Creme.... loved them in Arizona but only fresh made..... sounds like the wrong kind of oil is used to make them in, in other countries...but for sure they are not good for you, in excess, just like everything else....
I thought their highly hidden vaulted [yes it really is in a vault] recipe was all to do with the deep frying and the oil.. but if the oil is crap.. hehe I still wanna try one, can't help myself, so much hype about them I have to do it
well.....it's revaulting....
as with most things....the more hype...usually the more disappointing......if you have a good product...you don't need to hype it...
LOL Ed hey!!!! you're Angus again? cool!!!! I'm still half asleep here and just noticed
How about the bushman's breakfast?
Cup of billy tea, a cigarette and a fart
[Not necessarily in that order ]
