Since there is all the buzz about SoaSE: Entrenchment, I thought it would be a good idea to start thinking about what could add onto Entrenchment. Here you can speak your mind on what you think the other two expansions might be.
For example; I think there are going to be 3D's in the Expansions, which are Defence,(Entrenchment) Diplomacy,(Unnamed 2nd Expansion) and Destruction or Development(Uber far away 3rd Expansion).
The Fraisers have already *hinted* at Diplomacy Expansions in the 2nd Expansion, and since Entrenchment features on defence, you could opt for mass military upgrades inteh 3rd one, or if you think that the military is already strong enough, Development, which could include new Planetary Upgrades, New Planetary Bonuses, New trade and Refinery Bonuses/Abilities, and, even the fabled colonizable Moons might be added! But,remember this is all just my theory, and I'd love to hear yours.
OR if there will be 3 Expansions at all... 2 Micro-Expansions and the Final HUGE one, with a campaign and everything.

i dont think IC will make a campaign until Sins 2, or at least until the 3 X-packs are done. they have said there will be 3 expansions, but not that it will be limited to 3 expansions.
ive been trying to think myself... atm, Sins is a great game for skirmishes and MP matches, but it is missing the flair and uniqueness of a campaign map.
unless they use the third X-pack to introduce alot of the things needed for a camaign (neutral labs to capture, ship designs to plunder, more planetary bonuses to give expansion even more importance (for instance, on a ground based RTS, you can expand to what is a secure location, or you can risk it and go that little bit further for that extra oil derrick or whatever. in Sins there isnt really this concept) and, a few other things) and, of course, they figure out how to limit the introduction of new tech to give a slow learning curve (assuming they are going that way)
its alot of work. most games are based around a campaign and story first, then altered for MP later. Sins is the other way around, so its going to be difficult
i have faith though
Hmm.. I think that it would be EASIER this way, 'cuz you're already introduced to the stortyline, factions, what each faction is capable of, and how to own the enemy Ai. The only problem I see is how they're going to make a campaign w/ three different storyline (i.e. TEC vs. Vasari and Advent, Advent vs. TEC [and maybe Vasari] and Vasari vs. TEC [and maybe Advent/ their unknown enemy])

Well, apparently there's only 2 micro-expansion. BUT WAIT! LOOPHOLE!
Only 2 micro-expansions! Which could possible lead to a HUGE Expansion later...
idk for sure, but I'd like for ideas, rumors, and even plausible events to be posted here.

It was heavily hinted that just because they canceled the 3rd micro expansion it doesn't mean they are done with releasing content.
I expect a full expansion to be released, but would prefer a new game entirely.
Maybe a huge one or sins 2..............But no more micro expansions so far.
Yea, I was a bit confused about the disapearance of the fabled 3ed micro expantion. I agree with everyone else, and think that instead of a campaign expantion I would rather just have Sins 2. Not to say I would not buy it if it came out...
What could they do with a 3rd expansion? They've added a new tree for military and civilian in the first two. If they had made the third, excluding a campaign(Which is not happening i think, no matter how bad we all want it) what could it have added?

It could have added a first person shooter aspect to the game! At any time in the game, we can have the AI take care of all management and take control as commander of the flagship. This new view will have the feel of halflife2 in space, and we have total voice command of all functions of the ship, includeing ramming enemy planets.
This could never work in Sins because-
1. Not what the engine is designed for.
2. While your doing that in online MP, a competent enemy player will be stomping your fleet, because he is microing all of his units, instead of taking control of a single unit that might not even have any strategic or tactical value.
3. And what purpose would this serve? Any other game with similar aspects have been 1st-person games with some strategic command elements either tacked on or actually woven into the game. There's never been strategy game with FPS elements added.

It was a joke >.>
Maybe youre right, there is still no Death Star like in Galactic Civilizations 2
A death star wouldn't fit the existing canon, especially with starbases already fulfilling a very similar (if smaller-scale) role, and the complete destruction of planets is completely out of the scope of the weaponry of Sins.
After diplomacy, it's unclear what Ironclad intends, be it a full-sized expansion pack, a sequel, or an entirely new game title. Given their track record, I suspect they'll be quite successfuly no matter which path they follow.
Mayhaps we could find a Moderator, tie him up and demand answers...
Oh, FROGBOY! Come here, we've got some candy for ya... *hides golf club behind back, motions for others to bring rope and a getaway car*
Foolish Xer07, a golf club, rope, and a getaway car are so, INELEGANT.
No, a specially tailored gaseous agent designed to incapacitate humans would serve perfectly in the place of a golf club and rope.
And jet>car.
I had another thought on what the 3rd expansion could have offered: Adding in the Vasari's enemy as a playable faction.(May have been said already, IDK)
-Twilight Storm
The third expansion? It's all about the Space Ponies, baby.
W00T!!! SPACE PONIES FOR THE WIN!!!

Espionage might be nice if they could make it viable. A stealthy alternative for ship warfare would also add a nice new dimension to the game. Lastly, and more improbably: ship design. I so miss designing my own ships in MOO2. Nothing more satisfying than watching your newly refit fleet wax the floor with an enemy that wasn't prepared for your new designs. SINS is a slightly different game so i doubt designing would be practical but I can dream =P
You never know. Warzone 2100's skirmish mode featured real-time unit design; it was far simplified compared to TBS games (choose chassis, fit propulsion, fit weapon/support system), but it was certainly good.
