Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 just came out, and I was wondering if anyone knew if it is worth buying. I know that it is from the blacklisted EA, but it is still a C&C game, which used to be pretty good (although they're nothing compared to Sins). Does it have the intrusive DRM that EA is known for? Is it any good? Should I even consider buying it? If you can tell me anything useful, thank you in advance.
ty for your explanations everyone
srry if this double posts, but it did nt show up the first time so :
thank you for your explanations regarding DRM everyone, its good to see that forums are full of nice people always ready to help other people.
I'm not so hot about EA games anymore, i brought BFME + expansion to play online with a friend, and though it was a little too rushy for me (im more in slower RTS games like supcom and sins) i kinda liked it because i could have fun with a friend on it. i also brought C&C3 + expansion, because every review website i went to said it was good, but it was far too rushy as well, the defensive structures could'nt stop a five year old kid and the campain was'nt worth the price.
so in short, i'll be more careful with the reviews and start reading the player reviews instead im not planning on buying anything from EA games anytime soon (including Red Alert 3 because from what i read its the same as C&c 3 anyway)
Maybe we should be turning our attentions to Blizzard instead. SCII and D3 are not released yet.
Yeah, but have you heard what they are doing with SCII? They're splitting it into 3 different games, and I believe that you have to buy each one at or near full price for a complete game.
Well, you get the 'complete' game, but my understanding is if you want to play as a different race, you have to buy the other game releases. Bad move, IMO, unless they're releasing each version for around a third the cost of a 'normal' single title.
Not true, you only get a single play campaign for each faction for each package. In multiplayer, you can play all three races.
By the way, why the hell no one is playing online? It is about as hard as getting online play in Sins of Solar Empire BETA.
Do you mean in Demigod? Well lots of people play online for the first two weeks after a new beta release. Also, the mine map has the slowdown pathing bug. When the new beta comes out it will be busy and when Demigod gets online matchmaking, then more people will join as well.
NO, I mean Red Alert 3.
Go to online now, it is completely dead.
It's because some guy on galciv2.com razed hell and told everybody not to be RA3 because of DRM.
Good, maybe ea will think to build the game on something other than the modified general/BFME engine and release it without the DRM bullshit.
Oh, I played it at a friends tonight and it is horrible. Click, click, rush, rush, more units, counter enemy unit type, more unites, over. Wow 10 minutes of no fun per match, who wouldn't pay 50 bucks for that?
And that is coming from a lifelong C&C fan. I have owned everything and I still hate this one. Needn't to say for more than one reason, this will not be on my christmas list (I canceled my preorder a while back).
how many are online in RA3 at the same time approximately? (If they have such a cool feature as showing how many guys are online^^)
