it takes forever to search and to go to another page. I was about to pay $30 but I don 't think it worth it since you all seem not to keep this site running right.
When I came here couple years ago it rocked. I didn't sign up for a pay subscription cause I thought Objectdock was pointless but, since getting Vista I now love it.
Fix this site and I will pay.

If you could be more specific about the problems that you are having someone might be able to offer some help.
Is searching the only problem you are having?
Are you experienceing slow navagation throught out the site?

I know that I subscribe to support the skinners and users in the community. There aren't many places for the community to hang out anymore and I want to do my part to keep this one going; warts and all.

It's not just me a lot of people are writing about the load times of getting around this site. I will pay for this site soon when I buy Windowsblinds which I like also.
If everyone is paying $30 a year which seems like a lot are and buying software then they should have the budget to maintain this site.

I agree. This site has really been a challenge to navigate as of late. It's gotten progressively worse the last 6 months or so. I've even had difficulty with downloads of premiums purchases. I don't recieve the links to finish the download and resovling the problem has been difficult at best. 5 and 6 dollars is not a lot of money thus I've even gone so far as to purchase the same skin twice. It just saves me the angst of trying to resolve the problem. I don't have a problem with paying as I see many of these artists offer up their work for free.
theres the answer to the question, $30 gets lifejackets for the moderators but no performance fixes for the site.

Zubaz, I am with you all the way on this... but really... it’s getting difficult to even bother coming here and browsing the galleries. We got a price hike with free skins and a very laggy site to boot.
Since I have been visiting the site far less now than ever, I am going to ask myself whether the increase is going to be worth during my next renewal time. Evan loading the front page has been such a hassle; I changed my favorite link from www.wincustomize.com to www.forums.wincustomize.com. I have trying to avoid the front page altogether lately.
I currently have access to two PC's
#1=Dell/AMD64 Dualcore/Vista Home Premium 32Bit/SP1/IE7
#2 Compaq/IntelP4/XP/SP3/IE7
After 5 tests with each:
#1 Loads the home page in 5 seconds or less,#2 takes 5-8 seconds.
Initial loading of the WP gallery took 35-45 seconds for both.Loading the next page took 5-8 seconds for both.
When I first used them,both of these rigs had major issues,especially with IE7 and other web services as well as many other system bottlenecks.In fact #1 was almost unusable.I installed AdvancedWindowsCare from iobit(which I use on my own rig,and will swear by it)available free here http://www.iobit.com/ ran the system optimize on the Dell rig Oct 5th and on the XP unit yesterday.Both systems improved dramatically afterwards.
I'm not saying it will cure everyone,but you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by trying it out for yourself.It will give you the option to create a restore point first.(Never needed it)It has performed much better than expected in all four systems I have installed it on.
Just install it,uncheck everything except Optimize,hit scan and see what it finds.You may be suprised.Happy Browsing.
If everyone will take a deep breath and think a bit more as to what has been an on going process here lately... The site is in the process of being moved still. The servers contain lots of very valuable information and we do not want anything to happen to that at all. Plus as we speak of problems - there are always server problems with any site that has as many world wide visitors as this site has.
You want to talk about paying for something well I have everything you can get from this site almost for the next 4 years already paid for in advance. Thus I've seen everything here that comes and goes for a while now. That and plan on being here even if those servers go down! I'd be willing to jump on a plane and fly up there and help these people no matter what the cost too!
My point is - If you are going to be part of this community? You have to bear in mind it has it's ups and downs a lot as does regular life. Sure things are running a bit slow or not as good as some would like them. But give it time and this site will come back and be faster than it ever has been.
So give them a break and think on the bright side of things... If you really want that program - then buy it! If you really want to be part of skinning - then try it out and be one! Skinners are really good hard working people and there are some of the best skinners here at this site there is on this planet.
Plus Stardock is the home in my book for the top skinners that I know of anywhere on the net! The people who work for Stardock are just as good or for that matter the best there is also. Because they try their best to work with people to give them the best there is for most everything we use to skin with.
So slow site for now and what will it be tomorrow? I'll tell you again - it will be better to wait and have the best than rush people and get just what it is they give you. I always see people trying to do things in a rush and it never gets done right. Be patient and this will be a better site with faster downloads and more stuff for skinners than anywhere you can find out there on the net. As it has been for a long while!
You should consider buying what you want no matter how the site is at this point. Paying for sub here is what you should do to contribute to helping these people get things done. Not so you believe you get everything as you want it all the time. Sure it would nice if we all lived in a perfedt world. But we do not and time will tell what is what and who is who here and now.
So be part of the community and put your money on what is needed to help these people no matter how things are now. Think of the future. Do not live for today - it is tomorrow that comes every morning and it can be for the better with a little help!

I find speed of access comes and goes. I had an awful time for ages with one ISP, changed over to a new one, packets were routed differently and I had a much improved experience.
As to value, some days I think of Wincustomize as being untidy, like a teenagers bedroom that I just wish someone would tidy up and make right, other times it's a treasure trove of hidden delights. Choose what, when I break it down to the monthly/daily rate, I find it hard to find a reason to feel cheated.
