Every day I visit tons of website, forums, and social networks for all types of topics, most of which are technology based in some sort of form. This election cycle has really brought out the best of the liberal “group think” mentality regarding Obama. On just about every social network Obama is praised as “the one” and any hint of disagreement with his policies or ideals is immediately responded with accusations of racism, or just plain insults. Anybody who wants to claim that liberals are tolerant to others, please give me a shout because I can quickly debunk that. Even here on our network of sites, there have been insults tossed at the slightest hint of either supporting McCain, or being against Obama. I’m certainly not saying conservatives don’t dish out their fair share, but the mentality of liberals has once again bordered on the insane and hateful.
It’s tough being a proud conservative, as I will say what I think regardless of what the group and mob mentality is. The real shame is so many people, especially bloggers in the tech area, are afraid to do the same. I have received so many private notes and comments in support of standing up for conservatism, it’s almost crazy. The best comparison I can make is how conservative actors in Hollywood are often ridiculed or turned down for roles because of their conservative beliefs, and the same mentality is going on right now in the blogosphere. Conservative bloggers, some of which can be considered A-list are having to remain silent about their thoughts on Obama and McCain, simply because they are afraid of retribution from their employers or just not being able to pickup work from other sites. It’s a shame, and it’s more telling about liberals than it is anything.
I am a conservative, I don’t like Obama, and I will never let anyone intimidate me because of that.
Well, it just sad... although I am conservative in my views I think we have reached a wonderful time when we can finally consider an African-American or a woman for that matter, to run for the office of President and be able to base our vote on his/her policy rather than his color or her gender. But I think it would be a mistake to vote for someone as liberal as Obama.
He talks about only taxing those who make over 250,000 dollars per year. What people fail to realize is that this includes many medium to small business owners. They fall in this category which will affect you and especially the lower income because it is they that give the lower in of the social class thier jobs. So don’t expect the unemployment rate to turn around anytime soon. We will be forever in debt to the Middle East for oil and after we soon pull our troops out of Iraq we have to send them to Israel because we would give Iran the freedom to march straight to Israel. Don’t think anyone else will stop them because every other country in that region will be cheering them on.
Then again, maybe all is good and we will all have jobs and medical insurance, but no one will be able to afford anything, just like it did during the Carter years.

re #133, #135, and #141:
As I already pointed out to CarGuy1 (#87), the remarks attributed to Obama in that "quote" were not made by him but were from a satirical piece by John Semmens. Obama was not on Meet the Press on September 7. If he had really made those remarks on that program or elsewhere, he would have been fried in the press.
it's true.....Jimmy Carter is a good man and a great humanitarian.....all made possible by being the absolute worst President of the 20th Century.
whewww.... I feel better now, no seriously, thank for clearing that up!
What I find curious is how anyone can believe that increasing the top 5% tax braclet to the 38.9% range and giving the other 95% a tax cut will possibily add up to anything but massive deficent spending not even counting the trillion dollar increase (832 Bil) that Obama is proposing, especially in light of the estismated (now) 2.8 trillion the various bailout programs are costing.
Interesting comparison, but peoples lives are not at stake if a loan officer gives a loan to someone who is not qualified to have it. Doctors are not perfect and they will not always get it right, but they are not giving the same diagnosis based on a set of rules to everyone. This is a very poor comparison to say the least. The person did not see the doctor because they were looking for a new liver or lung. If you gonna try to prove me wrong please try something better than some out-of-the-blue not-compatable argument (if it can be called that).
Just didn't quite "get" how some folks might not cotton to having people who want to kill them live next door.
Thanks, CharlesCS. That's quite true.
Lets remember:
Many people don't pay taxes.
Therefore.....they don't get a tax cut.
They get....welfare.
People who will pay more taxes with 0bama are:
Please tell me the last time you got a job from a person with no job that doen't pay taxes?
Reading is apparently not your strong point. WOuld you care to show me where I said Obama has denied women any rights? Or are you just going to laugh at typos?
The links - which in no way reflected proposals on the table - not withstanding, what you are saying is that you do not trust your own judgement. So you expect others to follow you? And if you do not support the present social security system, do you intend to avail yourself of it when eligible? Because then you will not only be supporting it, you will be actively destroying it. Or are you unaware of the current system's resources and obligations? Or perhaps do not know what a Ponzi scheme is?
Dont remember Martin Niemoeller do you?
And a false argument. The point should not be to increase the percent of GDP consumption, but to increase revenues. But to a liberal, it is not about the money, but who should control it, so I guess that is why they cant see dollars for doughnuts.
SO US NEws and World is just a liberal Opinion rag? And you have some sort of documentation to support this?
Other than the fact you are probably right, what sources would you agree on? Since you have just excluded virtually every major mainstream news application with your sweeping condemnation. DO you know the difference? Somehow your sweeping negation of all sources indicates not.
A lot of non sequitir, but it does not change the facts of the case, nor does trying to obfuscate the facts change them. If you would like to get back to the point, that is fine, however, the right does not exist. They can be granted priveleges, but not rights. Perhaps you should learn the difference.
other than bookies, drug dealers and pimps
So you work for bookies, drug dealers and pimps? He wasn't asking who doesn't, he was asking when the last time YOU had a job where your boss didn't pay taxes.
I was adding the qualifier since his comment was not directed at me. I actually haven't had a boss since May of 1991 when I started my own business. But I do pay personal taxes in the top 10% as well as about 30% of business revenues.
Oh, poor you.
I have opinions on lots of the topics brought up in this post, but I'll restrict my comments to this:
The above discussion only serves to call into question the rationale of the OP's original point: conservative voices are drowned out by a sea of moderates and liberals in the vast datastream that is the internet. What I've seen here over the last 7 pages of posts is a mix of viewpoints, at least as many conservative as liberal.
Well the same applies to you. You insinuated that the reason that North Korea made advances in it's nuclear program was because Clinton sold American nuclear secrets to the DPRK. I posted the fas.org article on the subject.
So who would you rather I believe, the Federation of American Scientists who actually research their material ( as dated as it seems sometimes ) or someone posting on a bulletin board moaning *OMG LIBERALS ARE TEH EVIL LOOK AT WHAT CLINTON DID* and not backing it up?
True, but look to many other forums. I bet you will find the ration in favor of the liberal voice and i don't mean per forum but on the web as a whole. I web has a liberal tone to it. I would expect this anyhow because it in its nature to be liberal. I think a conservative internet would grow slower and be geared less towards the youth and entertainment. I also feel that a conservative internet would more be more structure and more governed (which is contrast to conservative view of hands off). So yes the internet is liberal, but I think it needs to be. Think about the people who built it in the first place. I seriously doubt it was a bunch of Nixon cheerleaders.
So far the only thing you are refuting in my posting as been of what I said about Clinton, what about everything else ive stated? Or are you going to play to that liberal stereotype where you just ignore everything said and try to change the subject at hand, which If im not mistaken was about ID being a Conservative on the Liberal Internet and not what Clinton may or may not have done to earn himself some easy coin.
If you'd scrolled through the other messages, you'd have discovered that this is a fictitious satire piece not an accurate article about Obama or his position. There's nothing to fear except the ignorant reposting satire and op-ed pieces as facts...ahem.
Nicely dodged there...by adding the "20th century" part you convenient dodge the new king of Worst President EVER, which we all know is GW.
You mean the same people who got tax cuts under Bush? The same ones that DIDN'T help our economy over the past 8 years as he DOUBLED the national deficit etc.? Bush made every dollar YOU made worth 1/2 as much as it did in 2000. So, in exchange for a chump change tax cut, you lost 1/2 your REAL worth...and that was BEFORE the events of the last two months.
Maybe if certain people hadn't been so damned greedy and selfish, they might all be worth a hell of a lot more today. I know a LOT of businessmen who are penny-wise and pound foolish.
Either way, I've seen the math, and when you look at the NET numbers, we're talking chump change here UNLESS you are making REAL money and then you will pay FRACTIONALLY more under Obama than Bushco.
So bloody what? YOU can afford it. You know you can.
And if it helps SAVE the economic engine that actually drives consumer spending in this country, re: the ravaged Middle Class under Bushco, then EVERY small business owner will see more REVENUE from those people because they will have more money to SPEND on their products and services.
So you get to make more money, and pay a little more in taxes. NET you will be ahead in PROFIT under a better managed economy. Every businessman should understand THAT logic.
This country made your success possible. Eat the extra % and thank god for it...all the way to the bank.
BIG assumption there, Ex. Care to expound on your business experience? I'm asking that seriously, since I'd like to understand the prism through which you are viewing this issue.
