Every day I visit tons of website, forums, and social networks for all types of topics, most of which are technology based in some sort of form. This election cycle has really brought out the best of the liberal “group think” mentality regarding Obama. On just about every social network Obama is praised as “the one” and any hint of disagreement with his policies or ideals is immediately responded with accusations of racism, or just plain insults. Anybody who wants to claim that liberals are tolerant to others, please give me a shout because I can quickly debunk that. Even here on our network of sites, there have been insults tossed at the slightest hint of either supporting McCain, or being against Obama. I’m certainly not saying conservatives don’t dish out their fair share, but the mentality of liberals has once again bordered on the insane and hateful.
It’s tough being a proud conservative, as I will say what I think regardless of what the group and mob mentality is. The real shame is so many people, especially bloggers in the tech area, are afraid to do the same. I have received so many private notes and comments in support of standing up for conservatism, it’s almost crazy. The best comparison I can make is how conservative actors in Hollywood are often ridiculed or turned down for roles because of their conservative beliefs, and the same mentality is going on right now in the blogosphere. Conservative bloggers, some of which can be considered A-list are having to remain silent about their thoughts on Obama and McCain, simply because they are afraid of retribution from their employers or just not being able to pickup work from other sites. It’s a shame, and it’s more telling about liberals than it is anything.
I am a conservative, I don’t like Obama, and I will never let anyone intimidate me because of that.
If FDR's administration could do it, so can we. TRUST? Heck no. Read my other post. How can we supervise effectively? But trust? Never: Not Dems NOR Repubs.
Just HMO's? EVERY insurance company is the same! Stockholder driven medical care yields only angry and ignored patients, frustrated and harried physicians and rich CEO;s/Executives. No matter...it's ok if you get a dividend check, right?
I'm assuming you mean North Korea.

So basically you're full of shit.
You read that as more sinister than I intended. Conspiracy theory much?
Regardless, many companies had a direct pipeline to the White House and it wasn't hard to predict the fall of the dollar, for example, since Cheney said explicitly "deficits don't matter", which has become the mantra of his administration.
Similarly, only one company was large enough to rebuild Iraq...not coincidentally Haliburton/KBR, Dick Cheney's company. They've pocketed a trillion dollars from us according to some estimates and promptly moved to Dubai in time to cash the checks outside the US of A.
And, adding insult to injury, "In February 2004, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report on government contractorsPDF (774 KiB) that use offshore tax havens. It ranks the contractors in terms of the size of the contractors and provides information about how many subsidiaries the companies have offshore. Using data of the end of 2001, Halliburton ranked 30, had 17 offshore companies in tax havens, and 131 foreign subsidiaries."
Precisely, but it was Kaiser's deal with Nixon that created HMOs and turned the landscape of American health care into what it is today.
From where I stand your the one floating.
See what I did there?
I think you need to chill out a bit, a little too high strung are we?
NOTHING scared the politicians more than that bombardment of protest from the American people regarding the first bailout proposal. 100% negative scared the ever loving crap out of them.
I’m a conservative which to me means I put country before party. I think Bobby Kennedy would have made one of the all time best presidents. I just want the best person to lead us, the economy is only one aspect. As far as I’m concerned everyone from the people who knew they were living beyond their means right on up to the CEO’s are responsible for this mess. I think both parties are responsible as well. If either party claims it was all the other then I think “Bullshit!” I don’t feel like either side has a good fix but if regulation means the government will keep an eye on the assholes and make sure they do what they’re supposed to be doing I’m all for it.
Another aspect to leading this country should be integrity but it doesn’t seem to matter, it still does to me. I think a lot of things when I think about McCain but is he telling the truth isn’t one of them. He may not be perfect but I don’t feel his integrity is questionable, Democrats even said he should not have been considered a part of the Keating Five. To link him with GWB to me is just a political ploy. First I don’t feel the republicans are the only one’s responsible and second McCain should detest Bush after what he and his campaign pulled on McCain when they spread the rumor that cost him the nomination.
I don’t feel this way about Obama, when I hear him speak I wonder if he’s telling the truth or is he someone who will associate with anyone no matter if they’re preaching hate or laughing because they got away with murder to get what he wants. I feel like the Democrats were nothing but race or gender this time, gender didn’t make it so what does that leave? I’m going to say the Hell with being politically correct and ask outright. Is the real story that Obama wants to become the first black president? Will he do or say anything to get this? Does he really care about America or is that just a slogan? When this thing about ACORN came out why did Obama say it was just a distraction cooked up by the Republicans? Why isn’t he spearheading the investigation into ACORN? It’s evident that until the Primaries they were closely associated, were they his first campaigner’s? I feel cheated, my one vote means nothing. How is that not undermining our country? I don’t have a problem with the first black president or the first female president but whatever their race or gender I do want them to be honorable.
As you can see I still have issues and a post earlier addressed another of my issues but didn’t seem to me to get addressed by the group so I’m going to bring it back up and maybe someone can clue me in on why I would want these qualities in a leader.
BTW I don’t think it’s the end of the world no matter who wins, that’s not what I’m about. To me everything I’m concerned about is legitimate, I’m not pissed off and I’m not trying to piss anyone off. Peace.
I ain't callin' no waaambulance. Just decaring bullshit on your Clinton bashing.
Nice try though. For that , you get a

Well played, D2J!
It seems to be a pattern here that a number of "conservative" posters keep citing satire and op-ed spin pieces as factual material to support their positions.
All it takes is a google search and a critical reading of the material that is present to at least try and filter the obvious crapola from legitimate NEWS material that at least MIGHT be grounded in something resembling reality. I'm fine with anyone's educated position as long as it isn't utterly fallacious and fictitious.
and they have the nerve to call it a 'liberal' Internet when they quote 'conservative' crap they found .... wait for it ....
On the Internet
Like anything its a small percentage, I garentee you will find 70-80% more liberal slander on the internet than you would concervative slander. Or should I say "liberal"? What's next, just because once in a blue moon liberal's get bashed in the media it can be officially declared "Fair and Balanced"?
So you claim, but I really honestly do beg to differ.
The fact of the matter is, that when Obama is nominated as president you will be electing Nancy Polaski as your next Supreme Commander. She will become the most powerful person in the world and Obama will be nothing but a figure head. Just think about it people. We have had a Democrat Congress for two years and they have done nothing. You’re not in this mess because of one man you’re in this mess because of 535 other people that you put in office. This is why I support that all voters should be required to take a Political Science course before being allowed to vote.
Fine then. The least you can do is stop lying then. That's really all I can ask.
Doesn't that just scare the bejeezus out of you??? Make chills run down my back!
Lying according to an article published on the internet? Where you ever told to not listen to everything you see on tv as a child? The same thing applies to the internet incase you didn't happen to know.
Just because someones opinion is different from yours doesn't make it wrong, maybe maturing a bit might help rather than immediately labeling something "shit" if you disagree with it. This is why political conversations go right into the toilet. "OMG CONSERVATIVE! QUICK, GET THE FIRE AND PITCHFORKS ITS TIME TO MAKE HIM PAY". *sigh*
[qoute] Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America . [/quote]
yeah i call it socialism... the government already bought into the banking system which makes the new president the second most powerful person in the world. I would rather have a conservative liberal sitting there instead of a liberal liberal.
I always thought this was more fitting for a slogan:
Change, it can also be for the worse!
Just because the guy delcares change doesn't mean it will be the kind of change we need, like it's been stated Obama's voting record doesn't lie like he does. He is a socialist. There is proof to this, sticking your head in the ground and trying to make excuses to refute the facts has been proven time and time again to be futile.
And no, I didn't say McCain would be a better choice incase someone thinks that. His voting record also goes against everything he states, fiscal conservative? McCain is what would be called a RINO (Republican In Name Only). Like I said, voting records don't lie. While McCain may be more of a democratic voter he sure isn't so far gone into socialism like your "change" driven "messiah".
I'm not even going to get into the fact that Obama may not have even been born in America, there are witnesses who had been at his birth and claimed it was in Kenya, one of which was his own grandmother. His apparent birth certificate was a quick hack job of his sisters, or so it would seem. So "messiah" or not, he probably wasn't even born in America, seeing how most people don't really care about the Constitution these days I suppose the requirements someone has to meet in order to be a United States President might as well be ignored as well.
All I know is I would hate to ever become a candidate for office. My god, the negative publicity, the digging into your background with a fine tooth comb. Trying to find ANYTHING to make a BIG thing of. Then using it in an attempt to manipulate the minds and the thinking of the public. ANYONE who could possibly a wonderful president (regardless of the party) would dare expose themselves to all of this. Also, to imply that there is a ANY for sure fix for our economic situation and military situation would be about as inept a statement that anyone could make. I have a business plan, BUT I certainly don't go into it without considering that there may be an unforseen fork in the road or unexpected problems that may cause a reformulation of the plan. I don't for any stretch of the imagination believe there is an overnight or sure fix for our situation. It's really gonna have to be taken as it comes. I've found in running my company that EVERYONE always seems to have an answer, sometimes they work out that way and sometimes they don't. I do know that from experience ANYONE that claims to have THE answer usually doesn't. Just like many presidents in the past, we are going to vote one in and once in office even he is going to see a situation at a magnitude way beyond his belief. He's gonna do some things that we won't approve of, some because we don't understand the situation in it's entirety and some of them we won't really have a clue about or perhaps we won't because we had our mind made up on how it should be handled. It's just simply a situation that has SOME chance involved, whether we like it or not. Let's just hope that whomever gets in does the very best he can with the tools he has to work with and most of it has the betterment of the country in mind. RAD
Which begs the question - why would American companies want or need to operate offshore? Could it be that doing business within the US, under the ever-expanding laws & regulations promulgated by our Congress, is bad for business? Instead of demonizing businesses for doing what is in their best interest, shouldn't we at least pause to wonder why the subject even comes up?
Ever wondered why Delaware, a state with the population of a medium size city, has so many megacorporations domiciled there?
You hit the nail right on the head with that one.
What do state governments do to attract business? Offer incentives, like lower taxes. Attracting business gives jobs to the people of that state and increases tax revenue. Now apply this thinking to the federal taxes on business.
If Obama gets elected and increases the taxes on businesses, what do you think is going to happen?
American liberals only care "why they hate us" when they're terrorists murdering us in cold blood. Business people deserve no such understanding or consideration.
Hmm, not sure why you say this since I never argued about understanding healthcare, only what you said.
I don't know about you but the Gov't has shown time and again that regardless who is in the White House, they can't do anything right so giving them more power is probably the single dumbest thing anyone could consider. I love it when people think successful people (rich people) should have less money while unsuccessful people (the Gov't) should have more. It's no wonder our priorities are so fucked up.
You point is simple based on your point of view, that doesn't make it the right point. I don't know what country you live in but I tried using Gov't healthcare when I was not doing well and let me tell you, I would rather pay out of my pocket if I could afford it. I don't find it funny to have to go to a doctor at 4 o'clock in the morning just to be within the first 20 people only to be attended at about 10 or 12 o'clock just so he/she can send me to a specialist where I will, yet again, have to go early in the morning to be one of the first in line to be attended, yet again, around 10 to 12 o'clock just to confirm what the first doctor said, just so they can tell me lets try this to see if it works (because they will try what my healthcare will deem affordable at the time. I don't like the idea of being the guineapig of a somewhat good system just to see what works best for the price.
Now we want to offer this kind of service to everyone, which last I checked we do, unless you earn too much that you can afford your own insurance. And who gets to foot the bill? The same people you all are insulting and claiming they do not deserve that which they earned (cause unless you can prove they stole it, it was earned). But the irony, if any of you were to become rich, I doubt you would be all for this crap. It's easy to scream "we need this for everyone" when you, or someone you know, will probably benefit from free stuff. After all, everyone loves free.
Lets just keep ignoring the lazines of this country and call them all unlucky Americans. We no longer have lazy people who couldn't give a rats ass about making a living if someone is willing to give to them hasle free. We no longer have people who lack motivation or education to succeed in life. Every American has motivation, the education and are hard working people, just those who are poor had "bad luck", all of them.
Well, maybe I was wrong and if so, then I'll admit it. I have no problem with doing so. Still, you once again put this "taxpayers" concept out as if only the poor and middle class will be paying for this.
Thats interesting, but last I checked, most taxes are paid by the top 10 or 20 percent. Top 50, which are still pretty wealthy, pay most of the taxes period. So while most middle class people pay a lot of taxes, even all together, they still don't pay all or most. Now I'm sure you will ask for links and stuff but I am not going to bother because you won't really care because you already have your mind made up. If you actually did care, you would have looked it up yourself and proved me wrong.
