Every day I visit tons of website, forums, and social networks for all types of topics, most of which are technology based in some sort of form. This election cycle has really brought out the best of the liberal “group think” mentality regarding Obama. On just about every social network Obama is praised as “the one” and any hint of disagreement with his policies or ideals is immediately responded with accusations of racism, or just plain insults. Anybody who wants to claim that liberals are tolerant to others, please give me a shout because I can quickly debunk that. Even here on our network of sites, there have been insults tossed at the slightest hint of either supporting McCain, or being against Obama. I’m certainly not saying conservatives don’t dish out their fair share, but the mentality of liberals has once again bordered on the insane and hateful.
It’s tough being a proud conservative, as I will say what I think regardless of what the group and mob mentality is. The real shame is so many people, especially bloggers in the tech area, are afraid to do the same. I have received so many private notes and comments in support of standing up for conservatism, it’s almost crazy. The best comparison I can make is how conservative actors in Hollywood are often ridiculed or turned down for roles because of their conservative beliefs, and the same mentality is going on right now in the blogosphere. Conservative bloggers, some of which can be considered A-list are having to remain silent about their thoughts on Obama and McCain, simply because they are afraid of retribution from their employers or just not being able to pickup work from other sites. It’s a shame, and it’s more telling about liberals than it is anything.
I am a conservative, I don’t like Obama, and I will never let anyone intimidate me because of that.
Our forefathers never guarenteed any of this.
You're going to hold Obama to account for NOT agreeing with the smears against him and call those lies? You might want to entertain the possibility that...
His tax plan is on his site, read it. Those are his intentions. Congress will determine if that's what happens, of course.
No one gives a shit about the abortion issue. It was settled decades ago. If you REALLY want to stop the NEED for abortions, provide proper sex education in the schools and free and easy access to contraception. No unwanted pregnancies = fewer abortions.
I don't hold Obama to account because of people he has known in his past any more than I hold McCain to account for actually BEING one of the Keating 5. Both situations have been vetted and are IRRELEVANT to the current matters at hand.
I've met some pretty amazing people in my life. I've even worked with some of them for years. It does NOT mean I share their political ideals any more than I do even members of my family.
So, where are these LIES you speak of? And more importantly, how do they even compare, for an instant, to how McCain has flipped his ENTIRE position on THESE SAME ISSUES you are speaking of?
McCain fought against Bush on the tax cuts for YEARS. He only changed his mind for this campaign, because he had no choice if he was going to get the campaign money from the same people that supported Bush.
Etc. etc.
You're quite hypocritical in holding one candidate to a standard that is different that another.
And I NEVER said Frank, Pelosi, etc. didn't share blame for being lilly livered cowards in handling their end of this. In fact, if you scroll back a few pages, you'll see I named them EXPLICITLY in my list of people to blame.
What is it about you liberals that makes you so caustic, you guys have no sense of humor at all. unless it involves ripping someone to pieces.
May I present to you...
The United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
And in regards to our founding fathers warning us of banking graft like we've just seen...
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.Thomas Jefferson, Letter to the Secretary of the Treasury Albert Gallatin (1802)3rd president of US (1743 - 1826)
You might want to read these again, since THAT is what this nation is SUPPOSED to be founded upon. Not FEAR and IGNORANCE.
We lost our sense of humor in 2000 and 2004. I'd like for all of us to get it back too.
Besides, the nomination for Vice President of the United States shouldn't be a joke.
Man, you crack me up!
I could say the same about the nomination for President of the United States but Obama is one of those jokes where someone gets an eye poked out. A lot of someones.
I don't think we've lost our sense of humor...it's just always been a much different type of humor than conservatives. Conservatives have (in general) have a screwball sense of humor, and liberals have a dry sense of humor. It's the difference between Steven Wright and Larry the Cable Guy.
Quote of the day: "it's funny because it's true"
John McCain's Big Prank
LOL. They are all over. Do something besides read 0bama's marketing site and you will find them.
hmmmm.........campaign financing.............I guess you could say he didn't lie........but since he did......it would be much like everything else you posted in the quote..............bullshit
However, he also said the following:
"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government. Thomas Jefferson"
That was funny! Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fglOsEpFfGQ
Carter, damn, he just about decimated the military, and I know what I'am talking about as I was there.
Dems voted for the war due to the lies told by Bush & Co.
A graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he served as president of the Harvard Law Review.
You think that the President of the Harvard Law Review is a joke?! Kudos to you. But I think I'll trust the A student Obama over the C student Bush with my vote, thank you very much.
I would not disagree with that quote. As I said before I am far more fiscally conservative than Bush has proven to be.
Are you going to give a man shit for NOT taking tax dollars from the taxpayers to pay for his campaign?!!! He wound up getting more donations than he needed and so he's spending donations (mostly $100 or less!) on his campaign instead of the tax dollars we oh so need right now.
I APPLAUD him for that. You should too, ESPECIALLY if you are a fiscal conservative. Or did you want him to take taxpayer money on top of his donations, just because he could have?!
Easy to make statements like that, but as Excalpius asked, where is your proof?
FEAR is a powerful motivator, for the populace as well as congressmen. After all, read up on your history. Caesars have always used the "barbarians are at the gates" to seize power, with the will of the mob and the senate - even if they themselves turned out to be secretly supporting the barbarians, ahem.
Links please. And NOT from right wing hack blogs, entertainment sites, or 527s thanks. I don't quote the Huffington Post or the Drudge Report anymore than the National Enquirer.
I'm glad I can help you laugh at yourself. It's very healthy.
Yup, Vietnam was over. Time to ramp down. Normal ebb and flow.
Your logic is flawed, people hold opinions about Ben Franklin, George Washington, Abe Lincoln and so on, and by your logic they shouldn't because they hadn't been alive in that Era?
Maybe you need to accept the fact that not everyone believes Carter actually did anything as President other than wasting the air we all breath. It doesn't matter weither you've been alive durring his Presidency or not, everyone has access to what he did and what he said durring his time as the President. And from what IVE READ hes done, its a pretty short list.
Well, he lied about Rev. Wright, if you believe he never heard that type of sermon in 20 years, I feel sorry for you. He lied about his associations with ayers, wasn't just " a guy in the neighborhood " If you believe that, I feel sorry for you. He lied about his tax cut threshhold, was 250k, then 200k, then Biden sad.. 150K..NOW.. Bill Richardson saying 120k! Middle class is getting smaller and smaller and smaller... HUGE lie.
He lied about his decision on public financing.
He's lied about what he is going to deliver, it is mathematically impossible.
The entire campaign.. imo.. has been a series of denials of the obvious, minimizations, hollywood marketing and smoke and mirrors. the ONLY reason he is in a position to win is because many people believe what they hear and don't hear from a media that has been contaminated with corruption and bias. The drive by networks should be ashamed of the mockery they have become.
RIP Journalism in 2008
Secondly, becase millions of people would rather have a hand out than work hard to achieve success like their fathers and grandfathers.
Lord help us if the biggest scam in the history of the US comes to fruition.
If anyone would believe what Bush & Co. would say it's not the Dems in the government so that theory is way out in left field.
They "Dems" along with the Republicans believed the 'Intelligence' reports from several countries which indicated that Saddam had WMD's.
'Intelligence' is this case is more a misnomer.
