I think the tile is discriptive enough.
But for those of you who like to be specific ....
What new features do you want to see in Gal Civ 3?
Is there something that you want to see from Gal Civ 1 or Gal Civ 2, only you want it to be better?
Do you want it to have Real-Time, Control Your Warships, Space Battles?
Etc.....
So please respond.
ROCK ON!!!
Annoying neighbors, people calling in complaints if you make 1 peep ever.. that's about it. But if you find a Townhouse, those are usually much better than an apartment. Since you only have people on each side, no one above or below (usually). The one I'm in has 2 stories with basement for $560. Not too bad.. but I would never do a normal apartment again, ever.
That is an interesting idea! The people you appoint to govern Star Systems (which you would select and be able to view their viewpoints, agendas) would actually make the decisions themselves. You would have to be at a higher government form of course, but these governers would make their own decisions based on Star System Law (like States law), whereas your 'Federal' Law would apply overall. A Public Relations Governer, to try to hide all the bad deeds you are doing. haha (Great for Evil Civ's!)
Introduce Logistics as a concept to the game.
Wow, great idea. I would enjoy seeing something as complex as you see it, since I like managing a larger aspect of a war than just moving units around. Here is the way I could see Stardock actually implementing something like this, though... to make it appease all users and avoid (in their view) too much complexity.
Stardock would probably:1. If you make a fleet (any fleet), it would start a logistics line (like a resource line from asteroid mines to a planet).2. They would probably make the logistics line require a certain number of resources from the CLOSEST planet (you could not change this). It would in essence drain resources from planet research and manufacturing.3. Enemies could attack this 'Logistics Line' much in the same way you attack a Freighter Route.4. If a Logistics Line attack is successful, the Logistics ability of that fleet drops, so ships may be dropped from the fleet.5. If enough damage is done, you may lose all Logistics ability and therefore not be able to create a fleet at all.
That is my view of how Stardock would probably put something into play in the game, but to be honest, I would rather see your idea of it.
Considering how annoying the people at my high school are, neighbors would definately be an improvement!
UPDATE (3/1/09): One thing I would like to see on the forums for 3 (although they could also add it in to these ones) is to have stickied post icons display which ones you read and which ones have new repliess, just like regular posts.
UPDATE 2:
Why on earth do we call our diplomacy secretary the secretary of STATE???? That position has absolutely nothing to do with states! What's wrong with Secretary of Diplomacy. Oh, and while we're changing things, rename the Department of Homeland Security something that doesn't sound like one of the evil Communist spy organizations in Mission Impossible. My suggestion is Secretary Of Counterterrorism, but that is a little long... And, now that I think about it, our "states" are not technically states! Why can't we call then provinces or territories like everybody else?
UPDATE YET AGAIN: One thing that might be interesting in the tech tree is to have several different kinds of tech prereqs:
Linear: Tech A is the only tech required to unlock Techs B, C, and D. The system that we have now.
Multiple: You need to research both tech A AND tech B to unlock tech C. This is the system that was in a lot of techs in GC1, and I have no idea why the devs took it out.
Alternate: Researching either tech A OR tech B will allow you to unlock tech C, but you do not need to research them both. I have not seen this method in any other game that I have played.
Also, one thing that might be interesting is to have some techs be hidden, and you do not know they are there at all until you are able to research them, or maybe even have another tech that reveals them to you, but is not necessarily on the path to it.
I live in Canada!!!
And no we ain't no Beer swiggin' Hockey Nuts!!!
But I'm Polish, so it don't matter to me!!!
Lucky you. The USA is really not that great of a country. Don't get me wrong, its definately preferable to China or Rwanda(sp?) or anyplace else in the third world, but we've sort of stagnated: economically, technologically, & socially. If I get enough money, I'm going to head over to either Finland or Japan.
I'm going to be honest with you... what you just said is the reason why the USA is like that, because many US citizens don't think much of their own COUNTRY. They don't care about their fellow people, they don't have any honour for the deeds and past history of their nation, they don't 'stick around' to try to do what they can to make things better, and greed / pride / or w/e you want to call it leads them to screw everything (including their own nation) to get their hands on as much cash as they can for their own selfish wants. It's really sad that you would even say something like that.
No country on the face of the Earth is perfect, so if you move to Finland or Japan, and those countries have a slight problem, what are you going to do then? Go running off to somewhere else? If you wanted to move to Finland or Japan for other reasons, that is fine, but due to the fact that the economy is in a slight recession is absurd... and to imply that the USA is a crap country is even more ridiculous.
If you don't care for America, your reasons are your own... but if I was Canadian, Japanese, Finnish, British, etc.. and someone said something similar, I would say the same thing to them. Politicians (not all, but many) shows the ideals of many American's. No respect and no honour for their fellow and past Americans.
Americans threaten to move to Canada.
Canadians threaten to move to Europe.
Europeans are incapable of threatening to move anywhere.
Also: If you die in Canada you die in real life.
Um, how did this thread devolve into Politics?
I never said that the US was a crap country! It's a nice place to live, but things have gotten steadily worse over my entire lifetime, and I highly doubt that that will change any time soon. I say governments need to EARN the loyalty of their citizens. If the government is not looking after you or anyone else, why support it? I am willing to pay my taxes and obey the laws, but why should I actively support a nation that invades anyone it doesn't personally like and soaks the middle class while handing out 700 billion dollar party favours to the richest 1%? It's just common sense!
THIS is why I want to become a professional backpacker, so that I won't have to worry about all this nonsense!!!
However a 3 Star Passport (or however many stars it is) would help. Free plane tickets, citizenship in every country, etc.
You only get it if you were born on in mid-flight, no matter where you are over the earth!!!
And BTW, in the war of 1812, the Canadians nearly burnt the White House down!!!
It also used to be painted yellow, but then they whitewashed it in order to hide the soot and all that on the walls that were still standing!!!
I bet that they didn't teach you that in your American History class!!!'
Now did they!!!
And I agree with you Scout.
Who honestly does that?!?
Put's a whole new meaning to "Made in the U-S-of-A" (whereas A stands for Assholes, which is Latin for Politician)!!!
Before this entire thead dissolves into pointless bickering, I would like to make a suggestion for what I want to see in GC3 (Now THERE'S a novel concept! ) It would be nice if range and maybe also speed actually scaled up depending on what size map you were playing. The way it is now, on tiny maps range is basically a non-issue, while on immense everything is too slow. Might be best to even things out just a little there.
In line with the idea that this is Galactic Civilizations, maybe we could slow speed down/nerf range a bit, such that tiny/small galaxies are more in line with a "normal" game-and perhaps this would make people somewhat less likely to continually request galaxy sizes larger than immense (myself included).
Now, Scoutdog, I wasn't trying to be ignorant to you in anyway, I just find the trends of these days somewhat disturbing. Ok, I will try to get back to the joys of GC3.
So you want to move to Japan???
Actually Japan did invade many many countries back in the day that it personally didn't like... It was called WW2. At least ours got rid of a brutal regime that systematically murdered and executed over 600,000 civilians in Iraq. So if you think... "Yea, it was done just because we didn't like them" ---> Hint: don't always believe everything you hear on the news. And, the US did not 'invade' which implies: To enter by force in order to conquer or pillage. Conquering and Pillaging Iraq was never and is not on the US to-do list.
Iraq regime under Saddam = the Drengin / Korath.
I would also add that the U.S. has a remarkable record of making allies of former enemies.
*ahem*
HOW DID THIS DEVOLVE INTO POLITICS!!!!! STOP IT!!!!
Believe me, I find the actions of the old Japanese Empire quite deplorable. They have a new govwernment now and are sufficiently non-agressive, but the WW2 version was truly atrocious. As for Sole's balence system, I support it wholeheartedly. I definately think that some scaling-back is in order.
UPDATE: I also want the AI to have some understanding of what various techs actually DO, and balence them accordingly. For example, if there are few or no extreme planets in the game, and the AI still researches the colonization techs, it will be killed by any human player with an IQ above 10. Maybe this already exists, but if it does I don't see it.
You know what "Operation Iraqui Liberation" stands for???
OIL!!! THAT'S WHAT!!!
And you're trying to tell us that the US isn't invading Iraq!!!
Take that you Conservative/Republican (Either or, same party, different name)!!!
Uhhh.... Extant...... it's actually called "Operation Iraqi (no U, btw) Freedom". I must agree that the war WAS fought over oil, but let's at least TRY to stay on topic here. Good pun, though. Oh, and if you create another thread specifically about the war, I would be happy to join you.
Iraqui ?? Iraqui Liberation ?? Extant, it seems that you have been raving far too much, and all the drugs you do at your rave parties has obviously destroyed any remaining brain cells you may have had left.
Oil? Really? Wow, the US sure has the oil ships coming back to America by the hordes straight from Iraq. Again, drugs have destroyed your brain, even Liberals and far-left Liberals in Congress would completely disagree with you. You are in your own little rave drug reality, and you are completely ignorant to what is actually happening in the world.
And AGAIN, invade implies to conquer / pillage a nation. Germany and Russia during WW2 "invaded" Poland. What the US did is nothing similar. Bush Senior sent troops to Iraq due to the fact that Iraq invaded Kuwait (Iraq planned on taking over Kuwait, hence invasion), with the purpose of liberating Kuwait. Obama extended the troop deployment in Iraq until 2010 (against Liberal wishes) and continues the troop surge (which Liberals said would fail, yet works). If you invade a country, you don't then leave voluntarily. So how are you against it? When Liberal Obama is for it... once again, hypocrites at work.
Once again, your statements show your vast intellect at work. Did you learn that most Republicans are conservatives and that most Democrats are Liberals just recently? and felt like sharing it?
This is the reason (and it's been said here many times by others) that most people don't even read your posts, and why others call you incoherent. You never offer any information except for un-factual dreamworld non-sense that is flowing around in your mind. If Scoutdog did make a post about the war, I would not reply to you, because a brick wall could give a better argument.
Regardless though, I don't come to this thread to listen to this kind of nonsense... Perhaps I will post again when Extant stops posting such non-sense (which probably will never happen).
It might be cool to see the diseases(sp?) from the mega events actually behave like like a real pathogen:
Oh, and GD, I certainly wish you would refrain from personally insulting people on these posts. Extant, at least TRY to stay on topic here, and stop provoking him (or her?)!
I assume you missed this post:
Don't speak anything to me about insulting Scout, ever... without reading first. it was comments as above that was the sole reason for my reply. So I certainly wish you would refrain from personally making comments to me about insulting people on these posts without making the same statement to others.
I am trying to get Extant to stop this nonsense too! He's more than a bit out of control. However, the quote above is not personally insulting: it's rather... undignified, but not aimed at any particular individual. It contradicts your ideology (to put it mildly), but it does not insult YOU, personally.
