I haven't played it myself, but the guys from Maximum PC have. In their article about the hyper-advanced planetarium now open in San Fran, this is how they described the control interface:
"Finally, we were allowed to enter the main control room behind the planetarium seating to check out how the real-time navigation works. Surprisingly, the controls for the Uniview program worked much like navigating through a game of Sins of the Solar Empire!"

Misleading title. I thought this was going to be about a planetarium that used an SoaSE mod. Besides, it's not like the screen navigation in SoaSE is anything special. It's a great game, don't get me wrong. But there's nothing really unique about the navigation.
Of course, the planetarium itself looks awesome. Wish I could play SoaSE on that screen... but I guess my neck would get tired.
