Hi! I'm new to OD, and I have a few questions.
1. The name of the recycle bin in my dock shows as:
Recycle Bin (Empty)
How can I change it so that it won't say "Empty" or "Full" in the icon's name?
2. How can I change the settings of OD so that when I'm on Firefox, the docks won't pop up upon mouseover? I can't find the settings for this and it's really annoying. I want OD to be for the desktop only, not to be used while browsing the web.
3. I can't change the icon's font size, only the font type. Is this a common problem? Can it be fixed?
Thank you.
1) right click recycle bin, when empty, Dock Entry Properties, remove (Empty) from name, then put something in recycle bin and do the same for full.
2) what are your current settings, when do they pop up.
3) can't change as in the option is not there or it is there and not working.
Thanks for replying!
1. I have tried that many times and restarted the program each time, but it still reverts to the (Empty) and (Full) names.
2. They pop up on mouseover. I don't want it to pop up over windows, such as internet browsers or applications. Only when I'm on the desktop. Here are my settings:
For #3, thanks for the confirmation. I can deal with that!
The best setting for this is to tell it to Keep on bottom. This setting is in ObjectDock Dock Properties Postioning tab Interaction.
That means the dock will appear on the bottom of the screen? I would really like for it to stay on the left of the screen.
That's in the screenshot of reply#2, correct? Where is says:
[ ] Show dock as drawer
Was not confirming, was asking if the option is not there or is there but not working, I use OD Plus and can change font size.
Yep, just played with it some more, full and empty reappear even just after emptying recycle bin.
So the tabbed dock is hidden even when you are on desktop, should been shown when on desktop, auto hide for maxed windows only. If only wanted on desktop and it is not hidden there then just turn of mouseover activation.
No, I know this might be confusing because it's located in the Positioning Tab but, it's called Interaction and what it sets is the Desktop priorty preference from On Top down to On Bottom. By setting the Desktop Interaction priorty to On Bottom you'll be telling Object Dock to not display the Dock over the top of any opened windows. Try it and see for yourself. It addresses your issue.
Look Here:
Ah, I see it now. But the Interaction options are for normal docks. I'm using a tabbed dock.
Sorry, I misread your previous post. Yes, the font size option is there, but whenever I change the size, it does nothing. Default font size remains.
Renaming the Recycle Bin each time is quite inconvenient. And so far, it doesn't seem to help. Out of the many times I had to rename the recycle bin, it only worked once. I can't seem to get it to work again.
No, the tabbed dock is not hidden when I'm on desktop. The tabbed dock ALWAYS shows whenever I place my mouse over the tab. However, I would like to disable mouseover for the tabbed dock while I have windows open. Be it a brower or explorer window. I hope that's clear enough.
This is not an option at this time.
Try these settings for your tabbed Dock.
Open up the Object Dock Properties and select Positioning. Turnoff Mouseover activation and Tabs always on top. This will prevent your Tabbed Dock from overlaying opened Windows. However, it will no longer activate on mouseover at all. You will have to click on it if you have the Show dock as drawer option checked to open the Tabbed dock. To have the dock remain stationary on the Desktop just turnoff the Show dock as drawer option.
Those are the only possible configurations for a Tabbed dock that address this. I think that comes pretty close to what you described.
Although I don't like disabling the mouseover option, thank you for the suggestion.
Do you know where I can go to suggest features to be added in ObjectDock?
Sure your post here may be seen so put your idea here in this thread you started.
You can also add your suggestion to a thread messiah1 started for that purpose. Thread found here.
You can send a private message to Seabass. Here's a link to his profile page.
