For some time now we have been teased that there will be some MV love in the 2.0 update. Is there still going to be some attention given to the MV in 2.0, or in any future time?
There is/has been a suspicion for some time now that some of the achievement medals are not working, so hopefully that might be appart of the love the MV recieves.
Any thoughts on what updates/changes the MV was/is to recieve in 2.0?

I'm a bit dispoainted at the tone of some of the responses here, specifically those who have responded to Zyxpsilon in a less than courteous way. A litte more maturity and thoughfulness is in order.

hey, boss... i couldn't help notice your Custom race "medal" Logo -- does that mean someone can log onto the MV using their favorite race parameters without flagging a cheat warning rejection if some values aren't defaults?
In Mumblefratz's response I would agree that the unseen medals are probably a matter of them never having been assigned anything as apposed to them not working.
I have no idea what constitutes a tweek and what wouldbe considered a big change since I don't know anything about programing. That said, I would like to see the unused medals assigned some value. Now, personally since, like Mumble I don't think I'll live to see 500 games, I'd like the medals to be used for things like "top 100" or something. But thats only because that is currently my goal for my character.
In every post about "what can we fix". there are things asked for that go beyond the scope. Like when Frogboy asks how he can adjust the AI and someone asks for tactical combat. I don't see why anyone should get upset over it, the SD people resaponsible for making any changes will know what they can and will do and a request that goes beyond that will simply not be done. It doesn;t take away from any more realistic requests. I just hope these forums arn't becoming "clicky", or is that "clickish".
fair enough; i think it's hard, though, because some of us have been pining for these fixes for months or longer: we finally got a bit of attention in a forum and were asked specifically to list MV problems, and then we got a single person posting requests for changes and expansions to the system. but you're indeed right that there would have been better ways to respond, and our tone probably only hurt out chances of being heard at all.
the difference is that this thread is specifically for aspects of the forum medals/MV that currently don't seem to work as intended, whereas your posts seem to be about changing the way they're intended to work and/or adding new features and fuctions to the MV system.
i think i can capture the perspective of those of us who over-reacted to your input. StarDock has given less and less attention to GC2, and even less to the GC2 forums and MV, over the past months. that's not to say it's been nil, but it certainly isn't what it was 3 years ago. we believe that we're coming up to a point when there will be little or no attention paid to the game, its forums and the MV, so we're hoping to get the last few bugs and broken features of the MV/forums fixed before StarDock moves on.
your requests and suggestions are more than simple fixes. i'm far less experienced with coding in any context than you or the people who work at StarDock, but i nonetheless feel that the suggestions you've made would represent a far more significant inventment in work on the part of StarDock than the requests others have made in here. as stated in the OP and subsequent posts from Kryo, this is about a modest, consice list of fixes, not a wish list for changes. if you'd like to campaign for such changes, i certainly wouldn't want to discourage you, but i do nonetheless feel it would be better carried out in another thread.

Only if you just use the in-game race customization, and the few parts of the raceconfig file that ARC (Advanced Race Customization) allows to be modified and still be MV legal.
I concur, and I think it's entirely reasonable. SD has other projects to work on, and eventually activity on doing anything to GC2 will come to a natural end. Fixing these last few things that dont apparently work as they should would be a nice little bonus.
Doesnt mean people cant yearn for grander more sweeping changes though...and who knows, maybe thos are possible as well. Not very likely, but we'll see.

I'm dissapointed that this thread has gotten off topic and as such i fear that we will never see the tweaks that we were asked to tell SD about.
This thread is not about what more can be done to the MV to make it better. It is about tweaking/fixing broken features that SD has already implemented into the MV that for whatever reason are just not wroking right.
Nothing more, nothing less.
I want this thread to remain on those topics, not any other requests or faults. I don't think that it is too much to ask that that be the case. So when someone goes off on what is unrelated topics as it pertains specifically to this thread i will, for the second time, resereve the right to get somewhat peeved at said person. Especially when said person is basically calling me a cheater. No matter what style of play i may employ. (refrains from going any further on topic)
Zyx, i pointed out to at the start of this topic what my questions/concerns are and that is what this topic is about. You have every right to request what you want of SD, all i ask is that you do so in the appropriate place.
This is not it.
My fear is, if i were a dev/mod and i was reading this thread, i would see that the community could not even agree on a few little fixes of already inplace features and want to just suggest not supported and far off fanciful idea's.
I would then give up on the thread.
I want this to remain on topic, it is the only way these fixes will gain any attention.
Keep on topic about tweaks to already implemented MV features as already listed. Want to suggest something else, by all means, go to forums, click Metaverse and click New Post.

I only mention this because there may be folks that don't realize that this functionality exists and hopefully this is just a polite way of mentioning it. I'm sure no one really wants to force such heavy handed action.
I do try and restrain myself from jumping to that. As you know mate im more than keen enough to fly off the handle as my first reaction so i so try and leave that measure till last.
I do believe others are entitled to their opinions to be sure, but i also believe there is a time and place.

Don't worry... we're all a big bunch of a community which doesn't concern themselves with the "tone" or inconsequential multi-threading (trolling, anyone?).
What matters is that Neilo gets his cake and eats it for good until his stomach implodes from realizing "some major" tweaks might have been a good idea before delving into simple fixes. But, who am i to decide what SD should do.
One's wishes might be another's futility like all things in life.
Back to topic, AFAIC.
Medals or not, scoring is still a means to tone down a Win or evaluate the gameplay circumstances. While i think, perfection doesn't really exist on Earth... many annoying discrepencies are still creeping into this game even after two full years (even if was indeed late into the machine, still TA certainly is a quite fresh expansion) of heavy support on my part.
MV is a secondary situation - to me.Modding being first. And for this, i must play in a variety of complex test games to realize what *can* be done.

That's not what I read....I thought it was the word "count". I skimmed it pretty fast so I could have misread. In any case, I'm done with this thread as it is now "moderated". Perhaps the discussion will continue elsewhere.
Well, it may have meant to be that, the word was certainly not used in any manner that was insulting, and there was a smilie in the middle. Just to need for my son who can read quite well to be seeing that.

Like I said initially, I'm looking for anything not working as intended at the moment, to pass on to Bara to fix. Changes to/additional functionality is beyond the scope of this (that sort of thing would need to go past Brad), but going off topic isn't going to kill the thread.
In the future, please leave the self-moderation to the blogs, and the forum moderation to us. Squelching other users is okay for the blog sites where anything goes, but we don't need the division that sort of thing can cause here.

I want to apologize for the way this thread has gone. We tried to point out to Zyx that all you wanted was a list of broken features. He, in his right, offered a laundry list of changes that were quite obviously never going to see the light of day. Many of us on the previous page tried to explain that to him, and that he was getting off topic, to which he got offended to.
I did not want this thread to stray off the point at hand as i knew it needed to be a concise list of the tweaks needed. Zyx's refusal to stay on topic and then his subsequent insults was clouding the intent of the thread.
His use of the "Word Harbonre made Famous" in a post was more than enough to remove him from this topic.
Granted, the "Word Harborne made Famous" was in a very obscure manner and in a non provocative way, but, and it may have been a very honest mistake, but, firstly, it was ledgible enough for my 6yr old to ask me what one of those is. Secondly, it just seemed to me to be a very smart way to slip in that insult. Considering the final phrase of the post made no sense to me at all. I have a screenshot of the post prior to me deleting it. Regardless, that word has no right on these forums. Ever. The fact that the word was there for all to see, including my son, was very poor form.
I regret this has got out of hand and hope this whole situation can be resolved. My dissagreements with Zyx should be our own and left to a PM.

As you may note Kryo i have edited the OP to reflect the current consensus of broken features. Also to note, though it may not be possible is that there is no DA/TA support for the fav race medal. This needs to be gained in DL. Also no Korath or Krynn Medals.

All of which are things that used to work except in the case of Achievement Medals 6-9 which never worked but appear to be in the sequence of 250 game winner, 500 game winner, ...
Other things were indeed discussed as well as having a monkey wrench thrown in from left field as to why the MV should get attention instead of some other random collection of desired game changes (which is what caused the grief in the thread to begin with) but I think we have pretty consistent agreement on what is stated in the OP at this time.

I passed the list on some time ago. Currently the CVP/Pantheon stuff for Demigod is taking priority for the web guys though.
