All MyColors free themes and all Stardock freeware now have a registration built into them. Here is how it works now:
Go to Impulse, and then to the store. Click on Desktop then choose to 'sort by price'.
You will see Diamond come up as a free download.
Click the free button and then on the next page select 'Add to Impulse'.
Impulse will ask you for your email if you do not have one, or it should prompt you for the one you are logged in with. Either way hit Register or enter your current email and hit register. Impulse will then download Diamond for you while creating your Diamond registry. You will find the free download under MyDesktop. Upon successful completion an email containing download and registration information will be sent to you via the address you have entered.
This is the current answer to the "Free Stuff" questions we have been getting. You will be seeing all manor of free items migrating their way from the normal Impulse windows into the store portion of Impulse. All free MyColor suites will also go to this method of registration as well. If you have any questions please let me know!
Seabass
I installed the new Think Green this morning and now the windowblind is all fuzzy/pixelated like some were before the last windowblind update.
I glad to hear the staging is fixed for you guy. Please let me know if anyone still has troubles with the registration/download. Things should be corrected now.
Try deleting the theme and then redownloading it. What you are seeing is the encryption. Also if you have WindowBlinds installed make sure that you have updated it as well as MyColors.
Someone HELP! I have been a Object Desktop Ultimate subscriber for many years. I received the email about the free MyColors theme that was available for subscibers "Encounter". I went to Impulse, Desktop and it wasn't listed. I followed all of the directions listed by SeaBass and to no avail. It is not even listed in the Store-Desktops section to even register it. I went to Wincustomize and checked the settings for my registered products and all of my MyColors products have a different registration number than is listed in Impulse. What goes?????? "Encounters is listed in the Wincustomize settings, but the number is not accepted in Impulse for new registrations. Something needs to be straightened out. This is worse than edealing with the CIA.
DoodleBop
Doodlebop - If you haven't done so already, please email support@stardock.com and start a trouble ticket. They will be able to assist you.
Doodle - Please right click on the serial number listed for Encounter. Then select 'remove..'. After that hit the 'Add Registration' button at the bottom and copy and paste in the information I have emailed to you from support@stardock.com. Let me know if you still have the same troubles. I have also included a stand alone link just in case. However it is best to have the theme downloaded by Impulse.
You can download Impulse, which in turn can download the latest MyColors and the themes for you. You will see what I mean when you try it out.
You can find information about it here: impulsedriven.com
And you can download it through here: http://www.impulsedriven.com/impulse_setup_full.exe
Let me know if you have questions.
First, sorry for my english, I'm a french user. I try to register MyColors Diamond Desktop. I click on "FREE" then on "Add To Account" then on "Register" with my Email Address and I get the following message: "The product you are requesting is not available for free registration". I'd like to download the update for Diamond Desktop but I can't without registration. Can you help me? Thanks in advance.
Thankis very much SeaBass for the clarification.
I was able to replicate this issue and reported it up. Appears to be a new bug with the update of Impulse. We should have this cleared as soon as possible. Sorry for the trouble.
Thanks for your answer, Seabass. What a quick fix. I have my registration now. Congratulations to Stardock for great software and great support.
Thank you very much for the compliment. As an update to the matter the free section should be getting updates in the very near future. Some demos will be available through specific sites (by product) still of course but updates are still a matter for Impulse. So for products like Login Studio and the MyColors themes even if you do not have Impulse this is still the best wait to maintain even the free applications. Not to be confusing but people will also notice free items when they are Object Desktop subscribers. However these free things are NOT listed in the free section but in the MyDesktop section as they are a free portion to the subscription. To clarify that with an example: Object Dock (not OD Plus) it a free download you will find in MyDesktop when you are an Object Desktop subscriber. This is just a matter of convince as the free version can still be downloaded from the product page as per normal. It is just a small courtesy/tip of the hat to our subscribers.I wanted to clarify that here as I have seen some of this question in other portions of the the forums and this post of mine is stickied. If you have more questions just let us know!
I have the absolute latest version of Impulse, but I don't have a "Store" tab at the top. How do I get it to show up? I've tried reinstalling already... that didn't work.
Edit: I managed to get to that MyColors thing, installed that, et cetera... and now Theme Manager has vanished completely. I should have stated that first. I wanted the latest version of Theme Manager, I had 2.something but it always asked for a serial so I couldn't update. Now I don't even see it in Impulse at all, let alone the version I had previously.
The store section is now know as Explore, first tab on the left.
[edit: see following post]
Does this program even work on Windows XP? Maybe that's the problem. I can run WindowBlinds just fine, but this MyColors thing has been an absolute nightmare thus far.
Edit: MyColors simply will not work for me. And through Impulse, I cannot find Theme Manager. However, I went into Stardock Central instead and was finally able to install the new/latest version of Theme Manager.
Theme Manager should be listed under the MyDesktop tab of Impulse. Under the Stardock Orb in the top left of Impulse click there and make sure that 'show hidden...' is checked just in case you hid the application.
MyColors will work with XP. What theme are you having troubles with? Or is it all of them?
This was all great to read. I thought I was the only one who couldn't get any of the supposedly free stuff to work. Maybe there is hope for me if I am in such good company. Now if someone could tell me why icon packager, which I bought and paid for, has to be re registered every time I open it, there might be some hope for me and Stardock.
It won't work with a 64 bit Windows, will it? Could that be the problem Shadowtechnique has?
Edit: Wow, I think this reply is about 3 months late :/
