I know it is not a fair comparison, 1 is an expansion pack, 1 is a different game.
I have GalCiv 2 DA. Twilight of the Arnor is cheaper of course than Sins of a Solar Empire.
So I am not sure which one to buy. Buying both is out of the equation.
There are other monetary considerations because, if they ever make an expansion to Sins of a Solar Empire, I can buy a bundle saving me money.
I also heard Sins of a Solar Empire does not support multicore, where it definitely needs it. That's a concern for me as well.
So, any loss in losing out the 2nd expansion to GalCiv?
Please advice
If you really like GalCiv, TA can't be over-rated. It's a substantial improvement over the stock game. Did you play the Sins demo? I'd go with whichever I enjoyed more.
Demo, why didn't I think of that. I'll check that out. Thx
Demigod ditch the others
A few clarifications to toss out your way to help you make a better decision
- Sins is pretty slim on multicore support. A second core is used to load textures, but that's as far as it goes currently.
- There are 3 announced 'micro' expansions for Sins, which will first be distributed individually through Impulse. Once all are done, they'll be packaged up for retail as a single, well, package. When that will be we don't really know, the only thing we've heard is probably summer or later of '09 - so it may be a bit of a wait.
Other than that, I'd definitely follow psychoak's advice on the demo And I'll second his "TA is a substantial improvement"
Which type of game do you enjoy most: Turn based or real-time strategy? Of course, the demo will likely give you the answer you want, but if you're a big fan of turn-based, then go with TotA. (But you can't go wrong with Sins either...)
