A greatful noob
email support@stardock.com include OS version SP level AV software a dxdiag report plus the crash log, I can't remember immediately where that's located but if you search your pc you'll find it.
Some things you can try lower the graphics setttings and lower the sound hardware acceleration to basic or none.
Just send one email and then wait. You should get an auto-response, check your spam folder if it doesn't show in your in basket. Allow a couple of days for a response. Make note of the ticket number in the auto response in case you need to refer to it.
cheers mate will try that and will have a hunt around for the crash log etc going to try a uninstall reinstall as well jst in case somthign went wrong pn install
I found this in a readme.txt file in my ToA game directory. Of note to your problem is looking for a debug.err file in your game directory as this will contain crash info for Stardock and you. Also the discussion regarding vide cards, video memory and updated drivers is pertinent as is the discussion of virtual memory. Good luck solving this crash problem.
TroubleShooting---------------Look in your game directory for a debug.err. This will tell you a lot aboutyour system and any errors the game ran into. If any drivers have dates olderthan 2005, update them if you are running into any problems.
Video Card Issues-----------------
* UPDATE YOUR VIDEO CARD DRIVERS! SERIOUSLY.
* If your video card has less than 32MB of memory, this game will likely notrun at all.
* This game requires video cards that support DirectX 9C or later. It isrequired for the TrueType font support that this game uses. Some older IntelExtreme graphics adapters do not support this.
* If you run into any visual problems, make sure your video card is using thelatest drivers. Seriously. Don't assume you have the latest drivers. We havefound that older video cards have problems with some of the features in DirectX 9Cthat this game makes use of.
* If you do run into an issue, check the debug.err which will likely provide usefulinformation for diagnosing the problem.
* Make sure you are running your desktop in 32-bit color.
* Updated video card drivers can usually be obtained from your PC vendor's website. Some other places to look:
- ATI/Radeon video drivers from http://ati.amd.com - NVIDIA/GeForce video drivers from http://www.nvidia.com - Intel 945/950 video drivers from http://www.intel.com
AMD DUO-CORE X2 USERS---------------------If you are using an AMD X2, you may need to update your chipset drivers fromAMD's site if you experience unexpected game behavior. This will solve it.
FONTS-----There have been rare instances reported where Windows forgets to load thefonts included with the game. Should that happen, please extract the filesin https://www.galciv2.com/files/gc2-fonts.exe to the GalCiv2\Fonts directoryon your machine (typically C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Fonts).
VIRTUAL MEMORY--------------Make sure your PC has at least 1GB of virtual memory. If the game runs out ofvirtual memory, it may terminate unexpectedly.
again thanks mate iou a beer
fine with doing most of that lol PC noob too the "update Processor drivers* will be intresting ( got AMD athlon 64 x2 dual core 6k)
though recently GALCIV2 TOA has been BSOD last 2 times i tried to play it so might jst be my PC dieing.. havent tried normal galciv or DA should rly check to see if that do it to.
Mesh... Bad choice but the xtra for the 4yr warrnty might of been best idea ever... any way thanks again wil see what stardock come back with will play around and worse case Mesh can come out and sort it lol
Ya the BSOD you mention doesn't sound so good. That's not likely a game issue. Something more serious like a major hardware or system driver problem where the system can't load properly might cause that at bootup. I'll let you get on with getting it sorted out. Good luck and your welcome!
