Same here Trubbs... I am sure I installed ToA thru impulse as well. Oh, I also tried using Us Server 1 and 2; and I have show prerelease option checked.
Nothing here either!
Any chance of a zip update if Impulse wont play ball please?
I am seeing it. Which pains me, because I'm at work.
So has nobody been able to download it? And, I hate to ask this, but can someone with a fast connection uninstall and reinstall to see if the Beta comes through?
Oh, and please give Impulse a restart (and your PC, if you're feeling frisky) to see if that kicks the file into cooperation.
(Boogiebac stomps off to scold the download.)
Same here, tried server USA 1 and 2 in Impulse and nothing (with the show pre-releases checked). Tried closing out the background Impulse.exe as well (thought maybe something could be stuck in a cache).
I don't mind trying it out, but do I need to uninstall everything GalCiv or just ToA?
We still have the option of reorting to violence! *charges at download server*
Just reinstalling TA should do the trick....which is what I'm trying atm.
After uninstalling TA and quiting Impulse (and the background instance), I now see 1.99[rc] and am installing.
And apparently Comcast upped my connection 'cause I'm getting 1.1MB/s
Aight, Im uninstalling right now since Im at campus and have access to fairly fast internetz here
I'll see what happens...
I was re-installing TA anyway
I went out, came back half hour later @ 7.00 pm GMT
Hey presto nice new beta to try out.
Any link to change log yet ?
Dont want to miss any features
Uninstalled TA, restarted impulse, and the only version of TA available is still 1.96.027. Show pre-release versions is on. Any ideas?
That did it, it's definitely the new version - it has the extreme planet and random event options in the new game screen.
Woo!
Did you kill off the background impulse.exe (which is there if you've got the "Fast start" option turned on). Don't know if that will help or not, but it can't hurt
Is it right that the update is 240MB in size?
btw i did not have to uninstall it
1.96 even after uninstalling and restarting pc
Restarting doesn't work, including killing the Impulse process. Uninstalling and reinstalling ToA does work, however.
strange... enabled fast start and 1.99 now showing
Update:
I uninstalled ToA and restarted my comp. I am now reinstalling ToA and it says in impulse that the beta 1.99[rc].016 is available. Good news.... kinda.
Interesting note: my GC2 launcher doesnt work anymore, I am hoping that it will once I get ToA installed again.
EDIT: For those of you that uninstalled and don't see the beta, just start installing the version you see... thats what I did and now it shows that the beta is the latest version available. Hope that helps.
THANKS. This worked for me as well. Very weird, but I'm glad someone figured it out. All I can say is I hope Stardock learned enough from this to make sure the final 2.0 release goes smoothly on Impulse.
You all got more 'beta' action than you bargained for I also have fast start enabled, and will talk to the team about why that would be messing with the install files.
di55ec7: Yeah, I talked to them about that, and it has to do with the 'pre-release' status. If you don't want to/can't download that much, wait for the final and i beleive it'll be more managable.
Where should I report bugs in this? For me, most of the buttons are blank and have no text. This is true of many dropdowns as well and the tech tree. This makes the game basically unplayable. Trying to see if uninstall/reinstall does anything.
Worked fine for me first time through, downloaded it about...two hours ago. I'm not on a particularly fast connection, and plus I'd rather not break it, so I'd prefer not to uninstall + reinstall TA, but if need be, I can, to check.
EDIT: Note: Fast start is not enabled.
Also, there has GOT to be an easier way to assign planetary governors. Somewhere to click, or something. Ctrl+P just isn't working for me. Although it IS nice to have access to the auto upgrade functions without being in planetary details. Not to mention that reordering apparently doesn't work, so they're built in the opposite order you put them in the list.
We should all get Beta Tester medals for this!
Although I'm sure the beta alone is worth uninstalling and reinstalling. I just wish that my fiber optics was more than 650 kilobits/sec so I could see it sooner.
But then again, the extra speed isn't worth doubling the monthly service fee for it.
Trubbs: Before you uninstall/reinstall, just try rebooting. There have been known issues with windows and the font where a simple reboot does the trick.
