Gateway Pundit has revealed all the details. The name of the Sarah Palin E-mail hacker/lamer is David Kernell, and he is (not surprisingly), the son of a Tennessee Dem State Rep.
if mccain wins, we lose. the above post is another fine example of republican bullshit. would i prefer hillary was the nominee for the democrats? indeed, i would. i voted for her in the primary. if mccain was the person he was was 5 years ago, i might vote for him over obama. mccain is so far to the right now, there's no way in hell i would vote for him. i guess he had to flip-flop on his views in order to align himself with the religious right so he could get the nomination. God help us all if he's elected!
don't you find it funny the republicans are running commercials blasting obama for voting a certain way on various bills when mccain voted the same way?
The truth, eh? How True? True in the minds of those who wrote/said it? Or true in the minds of those who heard/read it and the perpetuated it??
As always around election time (in every country/state), there's accusations, innuendos, lies, defamation and casting aspersions on the opposition to gain an upper hand... and to be quite frank, that's what I see a lot of this as, Republican bullshit because they themselves have little or nothing to offer, other than another military incursion into Iran, perhaps.
And so what if Barack Obama says that he would open unconditional dialogue with Iran's President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, it sure has to be the better alternative to placing restrictions and holding the threat of war above his head, should he not comply with the ideals of an ex-military president with bombs on the brain.
Furthermore, surely it would be better to have organisations such as Hamas, the PLO and others more amenable and open to more peaceful discussions with Obama as US President? The alternative, McCain, it seems, is none too popular with these groups, and that they believe it would just be more of the same... the same military-minded madness that prevailed under the Bush administration: ie; the invasion of Iraq, all based on a pack of lies... the invasion of Iran if Bush had more time in office. Of course the Arab/Muslim States don't want to see this, thus Obama is their natural preference as US President.
It is said that you should keep your friends close and your enemies closer, and who is to say that Barack Obama is not doing exactly that? And if he were to be successful in his dialogue/work with Ahmadinejad, Hamas and other groups, who is to say that they won't become more friendly towards the US and help to establish peace in the Middle East?
OK, so those are possibles and maybes, but I'd rather see Barack Obama in office than an old warlord who still has an axe to grind/bombs to drop. If Obama is preferred by those who are considered as enemies of the US, and his softer, non-military approach actually makes ground in resolving the terrorist threat, then he is the right man for the job.
When John McCain's war wounds and prisoner of war status have come up for ridicule, critisism and/or contemptuous jests, I have refrained from commenting because I will not belittle the horrors he endured. However, I will say this, that those horrors no doubt would have left him with horrible scars, mentally, emotionally and physically, and that in itself, for me, does not gel well with being the Commander in Chief of the most powerful military force on Earth. He must still harbour some bitterness, anger and resentment for what he endured, and that may be the only catalyst needed to spark off another unnecessary conflict.
Does Barack Obama hold all the credentials to become President? No! Of course not... and neither did anyone else who was elected to the Office. It is an ongoing process of learning and adjustment, but that is not something I see John McCain coming successfully to terms with, given he has been entrenched in the Bush regime for the last 8 years and has some old scars which may have detrimental effect to his (foreign policy and other) thinking. And then there's his running mate, a moose shooting hockey mom with a dubious background in Alaskan local and State politics... and then there was the Biden v Palin debate, which in several ways closely resembled the recent SNL skit.
While some think Palin scored very well against Biden, I personally thought that she was a huge political disappointment and the Republican Party ought to be worried.. very worried, given voters have real issues and need real answers to them. From what I saw, Palin wasn't particularly interested in debating politics or the economy, but more concerned with wowing the audience with her charm and frequent winks. When it came to discussing the economy, it came across more like Palin was trying to impress her neighbour over the back fence: "Well I can manage my household budget!"... and for those voters with serious financial issues created under the present regime/system, that just isn't going to cut it. To be frank, Palin came across as politically and economically naive - almost child-like in some of her anecdotes - and that, for me, does not make her a capable or responsible 2 IC.
Is Barack Obama completely honest? Nope! But then no politician ever born, created or hatched ever was... or is! The question is, however, is John McCain any more honest/trustworthy/reliable? Could Sarah Palin responsibly hold the fort if McCain passed on while in office? Palin's credibility aleady has serious holes in it... apart from the 'bridge to nowhere debacle, in which she reportedy pocketed Federal funds to finance other projects, she has no experience whatsoever in Federal politics and is unable to hold a serious political debate without resorting to 'small town' anecdotes and turning on the charm to blind observers to her inadequacies. Put bluntly, Palin is a small town girl with a small town mind, who has big aspirations to fill a position she has little or no hope of ever fulfilling adequately, efficiently or responsibly.... and God help the US and the World if she ever becomes 1IC.
I know there are some among you who might think I'm a proper twit because of my pirate talk and wacky stories about Palin and igloos, etc, but I am far from being a twit... not to mention that it'd take more than the imagination of a twit to come up with half the stuff I can conjour up in my mind. I am reasonably well educated and am far from being naive about politics and politicians (as in the US, they're tha same in Oz, all over the world...bloody LIARS), so I'm not just bumping my gums to have an opinion/say my piece. Further, some of you may ask why am I commenting on US politics when I'm a foreigner, in fact that has already been asked, and to that my answer is that events in the USA, considered to most powerful nation on Earth, often have a direct bearing on mine and other parts of the World, so yes, I like to keep abreast of things which may affect me/my family, etc... and thus, I have an opinion. Besides, I am not constantly being bombarded by confusing political campains/hype, daily/hourly media coverage or any other kind of persuasion to garner my vote... and sometimes it takes somebody (without the stress of "who do I vote for?") on the outside looking in to see what's really going on.
I may not direct knowledge of internal politicking, such as abortion bills and the like, but those are domestic issues for the American people and not directly my concern here. My concern is with the much bigger picture, the domino effect which could make or break the Oz economy... see more of our Aussie boys sent off to fight in another unnecessary war, to perhaps die or be maimed for life, to leave widows and fatherless children behind.
At the end of the day, the wealthy financiers, big industrialists and powerful lobbyists will still have some say in how the US is run, so it will come down to who you, the US people believe is most likely/able to resist them. Is it John McCain? Probably not, given historically that Republicans love to get into bed with money/influential entreprenuers... those whole help finance the US war machine. Is it Barack Obama? He no doubt likes money as well, but is he as likely to cow - tow as easily to the corporate giants, wealthy industialists and agenda driven lobbyists? At the end of the day, this is probably the most important question, if you want a government that's by the people and run by the people for the people.
I suppose we'll see come November... hopefully it's not a sad day we all regret.
That's the Cap'ns steel trap of a mind werkin' fer us all!

Put bluntly, Palin is a small town girl with a small town mind, who has big aspirations to fill a position she has little or no hope of ever fulfilling adequately, efficiently or responsibly.... and God help the US and the World if she ever becomes 1IC. <-- My biggest fear about her possible succession are her ideological and personal belief systems which vary a great deal from the usual ones and are ultra right wing in nature. This might be xenophobic of me, but I tend to be very wary of people "on a mission". I also am not reassured about how much she "loves" Israel (medium rare?) as she sat through a diatribe against Jews in her Church. Odd, Reverend Wright was "fair game" against Obama but Palin's Church seems to be out of bounds. The whole "What's OK to say to/about Sarah Palin and what isn't" type of double standard worries and disturbs me.
I know there are some among you who might think I'm a proper twit because of my pirate talk and wacky stories about Palin and igloos, etc, but I am far from being a twit... not to mention that it'd take more than the imagination of a twit to come up with half the stuff I can conjour up in my mind. My comments were added in red. I weighed whether to respond at all of just abandon the thread once Republican Hate Detritus is cut and pasted here.
I received an email yesterday about GWB's latest effort to circumvent our laws: The newest victim is to be the 1878 Posse Comitatus Act. For those not familiar with it, the purpose is to keep armed Federally controlled U.S. Army troops out of local/state law enforcement.
In cases of disaster (man make or natural) the National Guard can be activated by any Governor (yes, even the Commander-in-Chief of Alaska).
George and Dick have had their proposed change to Posse Comitatus repealed by Congress in 2006. Not happy with that, they've assigned the 1st Regimental Combat Team to NorCom to be "rapid responders". The only problem with that is that now, should "the decider" or his boss Dick (or any of their successors) decide that the troops are needed for any purpose they can be activated and sent. "Federal Troops - the movie" now showing in your neighborhood. Wanna try to argue with an M1 Abrams?
This confirms, for me at least. that GWB and R. Cheyne are the single most dangerous men to our Republic. Bin Laden destroyed two buildings. He never threatened our Democracy. They have eliminated Habaeus Corpus, and now trying hard to destroy Posse Comitatus.
Does anyone remember the film "Seven Days in May"?
For anyone who wishes to see a copy of that email, pm me and I'll supply it on demand.

WASHINGTON—Despite insisting several times during the first presidential debate that he had never won the U.S. Senate Miss Congeniality award due to his maverick, no-holds-barred legislating style, John McCain was recently revealed to have twice secured the much-coveted congressional superlative during his four terms in office. "This just proves that Sen. McCain is not only willing to lie to the American people, but that he is also perky, helpful, and exceedingly amiable around the Senate," said MSNBC political analyst Keith Olbermann of the documents that have recently come to light, including copies of both award certificates as well as photos of McCain handing out freshly baked cupcakes to the Senate Subcommittee on Appropriations. "American voters feel duped. This allegation runs completely counter to the gruff and unpredictable rebel persona that McCain has carefully cultivated." According to a statement released by the McCain campaign, the senator deeply regrets misleading the American public in regard to his bubbly personality, but remains proud of his seven consecutive U.S. Senate "Best In Swimsuit" wins.
This is precisely the point...men like Mahmoud Amahdinejad do not respond to threats or take them kindly, as he has frequently proven in his speeches denouncing threats made against Iran for its nuclear program. To threaten any of the Middle Eastern countries will end with the same result, contempt and hatred towards the US... and with an ex-military hardliner like McCain that's exactly what you're going to get, with more Osama bin Ladens crawling out of the woodwork to wreak their havoc and destruction on US interests. And if McCain kicks the bucket, can you honestly see the Middle East having any respect whatsoever for Sarah Palin??? Pigs will fly first!
Despite what anyone feels about past Arab Israeli conflicts, this is no time for old grievances. A dialogue of peace has to begin somewhere and with someone. GWB's Middle East Peace Map failed miserably because very few, if any in the region respect him, and the same is probably true of McCain, so when Hamas and such-like organisations say they prefer Obama as US President, it gives rise to some hope that he may be able to assist in implementing the Middle East peace accord, something which GWB dismally failed to do. Despite whatever failings Barack Obama may have, he is less likely than McCain to hold military threats over their heads/ to go in there all guns blazing... and that is what you want/need of a President, someone who'd prefer peace, cut military spending and bolster the domestic economy with the savings.
I won't buy into a religious political debate because the two should never be in the same bed to begin with. A politicians religious beliefs should never become entwined in or become part of his/her political life or decisions. The two must be kept separate... that's all there is to it..period.
I feel priveleged that you feel that way and appreciate the sentiment. However, you really need to get your eyes checked! As blurry as they may have been, those photos are NOT of me in the shower with boy scouts. They are in fact photos of me in the shower with several large breasted girl guides (female scouts). Come to think of it, which I do, hold off on the eye test and glasses, I dunno if'n I can afford fer 'e t' see them photos all proper like. It'll ne'er do fer us t' be on a long voyage wivout wenches n' 'ave ye g'wen berserk after oglin' them sorts o' fings...
..... an' I can't 'ave me crew jumpin overboard, now can I!
What I was relating to was the PLO/Hamas Axis not the Arab states/Israel conflict. I don't see Hamas and PLO receiving "Nation" status as long as they refuse to live in peace and "earn" their salaries by launching rockets and terrorist attacks on Israel. It's one thing for Arab states to "support" their national goals (Palestinians) It's quite another to pay for their weapons and suicide bombers.
Sorry if that wasn't clear from my comment. The Arabs and Israelis are going to have to settle things between themselves. Outside pressure won't help. Honest brokering might.
My lord! All I can say is I can't wait for this election cycle to be over with....
We were pretty much on the same wavelength... in relation to the peace accord, I also meant the rebel/terrorist groups within Arab nations. The recognised Arab states and Israel may still disagree on some things, but there hasn't been a conflict (as such) for several years now. Hopefully it stays that way.
And you're right about the 'outside pressure'... won't resolve anything, and certainly not from a Republican regime many Arabs (terrorists AND otherwise) despise for its poor Capitalist record which is low on tolerance, understanding and compassion, in particular towards some Arab States. Saudi Arabia might be considered an ally and it don't say much, but I think that's another case of 'keep your friends close and your enemies closer'.
This is a reasonably accurate of what really happened at Fannie/freddie from the NY Times, hardly a conservative publication.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/05/business/05fannie.html?ei=5070
Certainly worth the read!
Good read, and thanks, Ken. Hope yer feelin' a shade (pun) better there me friend.
Well, When someone invests billions in something wot 'e don't understand, 'e be nutz!
And greedy and fearful!
The "I vas only following orders!" defense sort of went out with Nurenburg. "Congress was pressuring him so he ignored the advice of his managers...". Nonsense! He needs to accept responsibility and the resultant fines and pokey time along with quite a few others.
Lil-whip and others: I think what you all were saying about putting illegals to work on infrastructure projects is right, and I was wrong. These folks, and prisoners need to be working to improve our infrastructure. My anger and disgust about the current mess might be "tempering" that opinion.
In fact, that might be a good way (in FDR type projects) to help deal with the massive unemployment I expect from this mess. I think that "top down" approaches are very limited, but "bottom up" are (tongue in cheek) the opposite. If the unemployed are earning and saving (not spending more than they earn....part of the reason for this mess) there's a sound way of getting out of this 'ere mess!
Just my thoughts....don't consume until fully baked!
I agree 100%. And exactly when in all this will congress accept any responsibility as well? That has been my frustration watching this unfold. As an independant voter, I was not buying all the Bush bashing as the sole cause of the issue and now we shall watch Barney Frank and Dodd lead the investigation as to what happened? You've got to be kidding! Whatever your political persuasion, this circus in Washington is what is really out of control and my sadness is that I do not believe either party will change it regardless of the Change or Reform slogans which are nothing more than milk for the masses as well as "it's the rich who are to blame". Diversionary targets, nothing more. Reminds me of Hilter blaming the Jews for everything wrong in Germany.
McCain's focus on earmarks won't do anything as it is such a small fraction of the total budget! Obama's 95% of all Americans tax break is complete BS as 35% of Americans don't pay any tax now! The numbers simply don't compute, especially in light of the fact that since 1992 our national debt has gone from 24% of GDP to over 51% of GDP. Everyone concentrates on the budgets stats including the famous Clinton "budgget surplus" he left Bush. All a numbers manipulation game. The national debt continnued to grow throughout it all. Followed by the disastererous spending spree of the Bush years.
A pox on both their houses I say!
Of course, that leaves me with no one to vote for or at best voting for the one I think will do the least damage in the long run. I do fear the drift to socialism more than anything else. I defy anyone to show me a successful socailist country that does not rely on handouts and/or protection from others. This deal only strengthened that fear if you accept that capitalism means the wealth is in private hands as compared to socialism where the wealth is oned by the state. The government accually taking ownership positions in some of the biggest financial concerns is a very problematic development in my view. Can anyone seriously believe that they, as politicians, will take any regulatory or oversight positons that will negatively impact that investment of our money?
No, my friend. It frustrated the HELL out of me too! Don't expect them to do Jack Squat. I say we start the referendum to kick them out!
Again we agree 100%. The big lie ALWAYS wins: "Luftwaffe? Zer Vas No Luftwaffe. Zat vas ze Lufthansa! Ze Luftwaffe vas all a Chooish lie."
What we need is to produce/manufacture and be the best at it! That's how America became great and it's the ONLY frikkin' way to stay great. What the hell is so hard to understand here???
You said it. I just refuse to vote McCain/Palin because of their I.Q. (Idiot Quotient and Bush association) and believe in education as part of salvation. But never take your eyes off them for a second!
Incidentally, antisemitism is on the rise here since the crap has started hitting the fan (it ain't done yet). Why is it everytime someone gets in trouble, we end up getting accused?
Nicely put Kenwas.
Neither side of the government is willing to say otherwise, because it would hurt their election chances.
Entitlement will get us nowhere fast...I agree. More: The Governent needs to do it's job and enforce the laws. The credit crunch is based on people living beyond their means. The Mortgage crunch is based on that and the bloody greedy criminals that sold home loans that could not be possibly repaid, so there needs to be SERIOUS punative steps taken. The Congress needs to be punished for precipitating the atmosphere of abrogation of it's oversight responsibilities. There's no way around it. WE are getting punished anyway!
Well, we're all repeating ourselves. I'm not afraid of ideologies per se but rather the people who put them first... There ain't gonna be an easy fix to this mess, but the right fundamentals have to be put in place. Otherwise HRM QEII is gonna revoke the Treaty of Paris of 1789.
Yawn, this election stuff is soooo boring....
Whether it's McCain/Palin or Osama/BinLaden, who cares...

DrJ. walks away shakin' 'is 'ead.
this is intended as a 'reply' to IslandDog's defense of Senator McCain not ever being mysogynistic from Sept.18 after a friend brought it to my attention...for some reason it didn't insert as I had hoped;
it's on video tape compliments of CNN;it is WELL know in journalism circles & to this day referred to as an indicator of the McCain temper that while on a campaign bus, in front of the embedded media, following Mrs. McCain playing with his hair & teasingly saying "someone is losing their hair', the candidate turned to his WIFE and responded thusly; "at least I don't spend an hour and a half in front of the mirror packing on the makeup like a trollop, you stupid C*nt"....it would be understatement to state that the female AND male media professionals were beyond incredulous that a man would speak to his WIFE like that IN FRONT OF THEM & their hearts ached for Cindy McCain's dignity in that gawd awfully beyond ackward moment; women's issues Palin - while mayor, female rape victims had to pay for their own rape exams;Dog...you gotta wean yourself off getting your political info exclusively on the Fox News network and start watching the dreaded 'main stream media'.....they truly are 'fair & balanced'.....
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone remember "The Keating Five" and how McCain was involved with the S&L failures? Remember the depth of McCain's corruption? Oh yeah and his wife was addicted to pain meds taken from someone else! Obama, at least doesn't remind everyone of that stuff.
For anyone who cares about facts here's a link:

(sorry me link thingy ain't workin').
I wouldn't call anything or anyone fair and balanced. But that doesn't change the fact that Palin is a smear artist (viz. the crap she's spouting today). And McCain is one HUGE hypocrite: see the above links.
I'm tired of the crap in this election and I'm done wif' it. Hankers, I think you're a great wizop, a super skinner and an all 'round nice guy but I've had it. This is more divisive than "the decider"....and I thought he, Karl Rove and Dick Cheney reached new lows. The current Palin shite is subterranean.
Here's me pating shot at her....Queen of the "know nothings":
bye y'all.
DR J0622 -
Please don't take my response as anything other than a laugh at the suggestion that 'any' media is fair and balanced. As I am a Canadian myself I have no vote in your election and it is also none of my business to suggest who should and should not be elected as the President, Vice-President, Senator or Congessman in your country.
If you think the 'crap' is bad there you ought to see it here in Canada. Elections of this magnitude bring out the worst in any party and some supporters.
Thank you for the compliment on being a 'great Wizop' - it is appreciated. I am not nor have I ever been a 'skinner'.
It can be difficult to keep one's temper when so much is at stake but we can take solace in knowing that we can agree to disagree.
BTW - is the 0622 in your nick part of your birthday as that is mine.
Hankers, if you read what I wrote (and even tho seanskycanadian is a newly pledged member of starkers' Brigantine HMS Oz Boss), I agreed that no one and nuttin' is balanced or fair in this creeped out election cum fianancial crunch.
I'm just tired of the sniping and road rage I encounter here...and me poor Pyrate accent.
The 0622 isn't me birthday. If it matters, it was 9/30. My 'nick' was supposed to be just plain old Dr.J. but something screwed up @ WC and I became DrJ0622 and I decided 'twas easier just t'go with the flow. I can't even post an avatar or pic...(my profile/account acts as screwy as I am).
(what does Bebi Bulma mean/come from???)( Tangential thinking: my forte.)
I don't know where you got the idea (truly mistaken) that I am/was angry....I amn't/wasn't. That's hard to tell in type at times. So you're forgiven (lol) after all, some of the best Canadians are my friends (did that come out right?). Really. Oh...and "You're truly a skinner when you skin a friend" (from another thread).
As it turns out, in the Global Village it's everyone's business who becomes Pres/V.P, and y'all's voices should be heartd (also listened to), btw.
Also, since all politicans are secreted, not born and since human physiology is the same to the north, south, east and west of us, they all are the same...and equally squalid.
So things are cool in the pool .... no sweat.
....Seth, you are obviously a well read, enlightened and decent man;it is worth noting & I concurr with you also that although Hankers is a commited Conservative, he isn't a rabid, vitriolic a la Ann Coulter Movement person as one would expect ;so many of the Neo-Cons are in pressing their point.
Also of note is the current McCain master of nastay campaign tricks, Steven Schmidt, who was a protege of Carl Rove who was a protege of Lee Atwater, who was the daddy and grandmaster of the nastiest of the nastiest smear + destroy campaigns - the Dems learned from what happened to Mike Dukakis in '88 and henceforth, any Democrat running for President kept a 'War Office' to promptly & accurately rebut + correct the assaults, smears. outright lies and distortions within 3 hours;what Palin was doing in California this weekend is straight out of the Atwater playbook & totally expected as each day with more and more evidence of how bad the current State of the Union is, and McCain going down more + more in the polls, his only avenue to proceed in the next month is to go totally and nastily negative to somehow get something to stick to the slow, stealthy, powerful forward movement of Obama/Biden.....
Whoa! .....I never said nor implied any such thing! Even if he cruises with Daffy, he's alright (for a non Pyrate).
