Down from #1 to #7 on Amazon.com in less then 1 week.
Not even Doom 3 or Matrix Reloaded dropped this fast.
The same game (Star Wars Force Unleashed) is beating it twice now, PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

2nd Spore-bashing thread that i've seen you post.
Looks more like a Spore info thread, to me.
By the way DK, it is listed as #6.
Yeah, Spore bashing would be "Spore sucks, they look retarded!" Factual information is factual information, regardless of whether it's complementary or not.
fair enough, but considering there's also another "(negative) spore info" thread, i don't see why he didn't just post a follow-up there.
don't get me wrong, all the bad press has turned me off of spore. i'm just saying, flooding the forums with minor updates on a game's failure, especially while the older thread is still active, is unnecessary. but whatever, i won't threadjack (at least, not any longer).
I say serves EA right, I think Spore will be the last game I will ever purchase from them, the main reason I got it was because the gf likes the creature creator and figured there'd be a decent game behind it all (boy was I wrong there ) .
I wonder what the SPORE haters damage control will be when the game passes 2mln, then 3 mlns or maybe even 4mln copies
Agree, same here and agree.
Although Warhammer Online is EA and I'm enjoying that immensely.
Popularity doesn't equal quality. On the same note, being popular doesn't mean people will suddenly stop hating it.
Haters don't have to damage control, especially if those figures are over time. And, by the way, having a negative view on something doesn't make you a hater. A hater is a fan-boy that is raging against something with no actual reason to (ie, "I want to fit in" or "I want to be a rebel").
Spore had an ambitious idea, but anybody that followed spore could have seen that they had bitten off more than they could chew in any realistic time frame. Having the populace gripe and moan about release dates getting pushed back is also very frustrating, which can ultimately have a negative effect on the game.
Not to say it isn't fun, but it is following the trend of games today - offer a lot, deliver a feeling of a lot, hope the customer doesn't realize they actually had a small meal.
Before Spore came out, I think Bill Wright stated that each phase of the game will be based on some well known mini games from other sources, including other classic video games. When i first saw that, the first thing i ask is, well in that case, Spore has to do sorta separate type of game for each phase, and can this be done well. I don't know, but i love to find out for myself as in playing it. Unfortunately, i don't have much time these days to play a game like Spore. It sounds like it takes way too much time. I think it would be perfect for my 12 years old siblings.
Hm..why can't i edit my post.
Anyways, Gamespy gave Spore 4.5 stars.

Gamespot gave an 8/10

I ran to the Amazon website, and many of the reviews are whinning about the DRM, plus disappointing gameplay quality. Gamespot said that the mini games are simple and the space phase are repetitive. Well...I think Spore would either cater to the Sims crowd or the teen crowd. The AI developer who used to work at the Civ 4 project, Soren Johnson, after he went over to work at Spore, he commented on Gamer's with Job interview that what the Spore team is doing are pretty amazing. I wonder what PC gamer would have given them for score wise.
I just went to the gamesradar website and found out that PC gamer's editor did a review of Spore and gave a 91% with an Editor Choice award
The rewiew is very informative and very objective in the sense that it tells what is good, bad, and the various good and bad game mechanics. One thing I do agree with Kristen (Pc gamer's editor in chief), is that, I think everyone's expectation for Spore was too high, and when it did not meet it, people are extremely disappointed. I think the more important question is, did Bill Wright set out to accomplish and acheive his vision for Spore, or did it even remotely meet the expectation of the game's potential fan halfway. I also think that Spore will turn out to be like the Sims franchise. Like they can have a million expansions to it after it comes out. Well another cash cow for EA.
Zero Punctuation reviews spore:

These are always the best reviews. Telling it like it is.
Well since neither the edit button works, nor does the forum automatically recognise links, here's the link again with clickable goodness:
Expectations are created by Will Wrong and not corrected when the media runs with them. From all the E3s and the like my impression of what Spore was happened to be totaly diffrent from reality. However I wasn't disapointed because there tech gave me a better perspective on that kind of thing. Even better insulting people for being greedy mass market cashins is great fun.
Spore had the 'chance' to be awesome, even with cute graphics. Instead it uses a serries of minigames to make a race for a terrible space adventure game.
My kids really like Spore (Boy of 6, Girl of 8 and Boy of 11 years old)
Now EA has said to change the DRM that computers can be de-activated i have bought the game and will store the cd with cracked version somewhere. One of the great things of spore is the online content. If they had sold the game without DRM it would have sold well just because of the online part. Without DRM this game had great Impulse / Stardock potentional. (Weekly updates with new parts only available for customers)
I will keep track of the spore cracks just in case EA stops the support without releasing a patch to un-drm the game.
Sadly enough I expected a game built around evolution and from what I can tell that is not the case - maybe that element will be added in the third or fourth x-pack.
As far as i can see the game is about intelligent design
Snap!
Sadly enough, quoted for truth!
Acutally it's about a guy named Steve.
This thread is the biggest load of bull I have ever seen.
Come on, you've got to admit the intelligent design joke is good pretty much no matter where you might come down on the metaphysics and/or dev politics arguments.
