I just bought this game Friday, and so far I love it, but I just feel like while I am learning, I'm missing all the essentials. It usually never takes me this long to learn how to play a game, is this just me? Or is the learning curve essentially a brick wall?
I started playing this game, and it was excellent, but the tutorials didn't really help. I started playing as TEC, then Vasari; since the ships felt a little more powerful. I still had a problem with credits. I 'upgraded' the civilian infrastructure, but that barely helped, so I was constantly at loss to credits. I was playing TEC on easy on a medium size map, just so I could start getting the hang of the game, and they kept eluding me. I could never ambush them because I couldn't buy enough ships to be into places. I can't really use any strats that I used while playing CnC because I barely know how to play this game.
Any tips? Once again, I really, REALLY like this game, so don't think I'm bashing it in any way. I'm merely trying to figure out how to enjoy it a little more, though the short time I did spend with it was awesome.
Okay, gotcha, I'll keep trying. Unfortunately I don't have much time during the week to play Sins (insane amounts of homework), but I have some free time ocassionaly to play some games.
By the way, on another forum I am on there's a way to 'subscribe' to a thread so that you get alerted whenever someone comments on it. Can I do it on this forum?
I don't know if there is it could be in your profile settings as in other forums I get notifications when people post to threads that I have commented in.
Also remember look for chokepoints you don't have to spread your fleet out, if you can find a world that ends up being the only route for the AI to take then you can settle down and build your fleet up. There been threads that say don't stop moving and they will give a list telling you why, at lower difficulties, you can halt your advance but the thing that you shouldn't do is allow the AI to force you back, the world that you stop your advance at, fortify it.
Also use scouts sometimes the AI will colonise planets that are far from their part of the system, if you find those worlds take them and colonise them, if the AI isn't there then colonise them.
Are you still short of credits? If so mouse over the credit value it will give you a list of all the planets under your control and the credit rate they are producing if the numbers are red those worlds are producing in negative numbers. You can do the same works for the crystal and metal values apart from that the planets will not appear if I remember.
Great Lord D
Ok, well I upgraded all my planets, and my fleet capacity, so I was getting about 10 credits per sec, and I had a good 40 ships out there. I captured all but two planets (one was in the process of being bombed by one of my capital ships, and the other was waiting for the colonizer), when I decided to attack the pirate planet to beat the scenario. All of a sudden the game just quit out, and I hadn't saved for quite a while. Whatever, I'll re-finish a little later, but thanks for all the help...the game became much more fun when I knew how to play, it's now been upgraded to my favorite RTS, above CnC Generals.
Good.See, even a noob like you can get better
That's an ouch right there. But a compliment none the less buried in the insult.
When I started out playing CnC I was a big n00b, but now I can beat all of my friends without even trying. Hopefully I'll get that way with Sins, considering I think it's several times better than Generals. Thanks again for all the help.
