If you havent seen the new Fallout 3 gameplay vids posted this week, you really need to check them out. It would be easier than me trying to explain how awesome they are.

I think I actually teared up a little while watching these. The end of october is too far away.
Wait what... where did the edit button go? Crap...
duh... I wrote above post badly... I put too much weight on restrictions. FO3 can be Fallout if the world's Fallout but is not... not Fallout... !"¤& now that i'm writing this, i can't remember what i meant to say... Restrictions be damned, and the world, we'll know when FO3 comes whether it's Fallout or not. We shouldn't judge the game just because it's "slightly" different and more combat oriented.
Nice... the forums ate my post... where's edit button? We should judge FO 3 only after it comes... it may be more combat oriented but if the world's Fallout, isn't it Fallout? That is if you think more about the world than the gameplay
Forget my talk about restrictions...
EDIT this forum's stupid... i can't edit my first post. Second doesn't appear even with site reload (not even this thread second page). This third post.. it came immediatly and has edit button? Oh great... And the second post appeared. F***
You can only edit your post if you're the last one to reply in the thread. And the edit button does have a habit of disappearing.
Sorry, sorry, I promise I'll give them all back... eventually!
Lolz
You know what I really love, That fact that people have the nerve to bitch about a game and try to compare it to another whether it be in the same series or not based off developer vids, I noticed at times it looked like the player was running like no clip was switched on and the AI seemed a bit dumb like the whole game was in favour of the player, What you need to realise, Like someone else posted it's not released yet, You havn't even played it so how the hell can you rate or bitch a game you have never played. Its like a new movie comes out and your friend says it's rubbish, Are you going to take his word for it or are you going to make yourr own mind up and go to see it, I personally never played the first 2 fallout games and even tho I am not a big fan of isometric viewed games I still play them from time to time. I recommend you just wait till it's out grab a copy for yourself then come back here and then complain that Bethsoft buggered your favourite fallout series by making an fps\3rd persion version, IF you think they have.
I know people are entitled to their opinions but why complain before even having had a look at it yourself, Videos of a developer running round showing off some off the features that may not happen untill you level more or the fact that he may have cheated to get the desired effect to show what could happen. And also While you are at it why don't you say hooray no load times, They wern't shown in the clips they might be long load times btween int's and ext's or even different zones or there may be none at all who knows, GO buy the game once it's released and then pass judgment.
Genovauk has the point...
One problem with Fallout fans is that they tend to be... cavemen (some might say purists but most "purists" are hypocrites , at least in my experience)
Things change. Make an isometric game today. How many will buy it? Maybe a few thousand people. Maybe 10.000 or even 100.000. But not the masses... And turn based RPGs are something of dying breed aren't they?
Oh and HC Falloutists, what will you say if FO3 will be good and has Fallout feeling... (other than being surprised)
Most purists (I'll use that word ) will find plenty to complain about even if FO3 is good and does a good job of capturing the setting.
For me I never played much of the first two, though I own both. So I don't have to be trapped in that "It's not like the others" attitude.
The Oblivion comparison does worry me though, as it was a huge dissapointment to me after i had spent hundreds of hour playing Morrowind. Ended up with putting maybe 20 into Oblivion before saying the hell with it. So I hope they don't put to much influence into F3 from it.
Um, let's see this thread is about how awesome the game is based on looking on videos (the thread openers opinion). Now you come and say it's stupid of the ones criticising the game based on those videos?
Hey, whatever floats your boat.
Also you can still criticise a game for totally changing it's gameplay mechanism. You don't need to have it played to know that first person real time combat is entirely different from bird view turn based combat.
Hey that's true. So why did Sins even got made? Its a 4X and such ones don't get sold much. Or even worse, Stardocks GalCiv or Not-MoM. Why would anyone want to make them, since obviously nobody buys them?
What are you saying? Sins sold over 500'000 copies? Can't be! Such games don't get sold after all.
Sins is a real-time 4X game. Not turn based. And more akin to Homeworld than true 4X like MoM, so it can't really be compared.
Me, when it comes to RPG's I'll take real-time combat over turn based anytime. Turn based combat does not make you lean out of your chair trying to dodge attacks, or jump when something pounces at you from the dark. There is no excitement, no dynamic. So I want turn based combat in complex tactical games which require clear thinking and strategic thought. I *don't* want that in a situation where you're duking it out with a bunch of post-apocalyptic mutants. I want the sense of chaos, of unpredictability, of things always one blink from going out of control. When it comes to combat aspect of single character RPG's, real time is an improvement.
Maybe people buy isometric games... but sell try sell them TURN BASED RPG (pure RPG like FO1/2, not Heroes). Pfht.
How much does a normal game sell anyway? If 500.000 then Sins was OK (never played, never will, don't ask)
Maybe i should've sayed turn based game (that is not Civilization series... aren't they quite succesfull?). Diablo 3 is gonna be isometric too and it's gonna sell. A lot.
I'll be getting this , I want my pipboy!
I like isometric games, not so much turned based, Hell i got space siege yesterday and love it, I had my reservations about it because i like the 1st\3rd person games more but I got it for myself rather than base my opinions off vids or other peoples opinions, People ARE entitled to their opinions but i just hate when people make opinions about things they have never seen, played or done themselves, To me it just seems STUPID to rate something good OR bad if they havn't actually played it. Things change, Things evolve, Things rarely ever stay the same, Bethsoft started out out with a hockey game for gods sake and look where they are at now, Making great games people like to play, I'm not saying fallout 3 will be any good, I may hate it but the point is still the same, Play it then complain or boast about how good it is or how well it plays on your machine or whatever.
I'm guessing that Vandenberg is one of the glittering gems of hatred from NMA. I can agree that it's correct to say that Fallout 3 isn't "real Fallout" since it isn't the same genre as the two originals. If it matters is something different.
Having only played FO 1 & 2 for 5mins each I can't say that much about them (Don't even know if they have music) but they seemed very stiff, slow & boring. Realtime games are simply much more exciting.
Played for more than 5 mins and it becomes fun. They defiantly have music lol. Depth is fallout. Its not about some specific gameplay thing, most people realise this, its that fallout has a lot of depth to things like choices and freedom. All of the obvious stuff will be there no matter what, but will I be able to sleep with a girl, and then her mother and then kill her husband his entire orginisation and steel all his stuff, then sleep with her again?
lol
