It's pretty rare that I get worked up over a computer game release, and even rarer that I pre-order one. While I enjoy games quite a bit, and spend more time than I probably should playing them, I just don't get that hyped up very often. Thus far, the only two games I have ever pre-ordered have been GalCiv2, and the expansion Dark Avatar.
That is until recently. The other day I went ahead and preordered Mercenaries 2, the sequel to Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction. This may seem an odd choice for someone who has previously only been excited enough over turn based 4x to preorder, but I am really looking forward to this game's release.
Since I'm going into my Senior year of college, I'm not going to have a lot of time for games this year. I am taking a fairly heavy work load this semester, and the prospect of having to really work at my video games doesn't sound very appealing to me. So, I see this game as a great opportunity to drop in, release some stress by blowing all sorts of nonsense up with insane amounts of explosives, and then get back to the books.
So, while I enjoy GalCiv, I think that it's going to be put on hiatus for a few months. In the mean while, I'll await the spring thaw by keeping warm from copious amounts of firepower.

Waiting for a review. It's an interesting idea, but in all the gameplay vids the guy also never dies, which I sincerely hope is not the normal way and the demo just had invulnerability. That's pretty much a deal breaker for me
The first one was fun. This has been in development for so long that any enthusiasm I had is long gone.
I'm looking forward to Fallout 3, though I hope it isn't like Oblivion where the game only got good with mods. Hell, I'm looking forward to GTAIV for the pc. High res graphics. Nice.
Yes But at the same time, I hope there is a healthy modding community. A lot of cool stuff was added to Oblivion, out of necessity or otherwise, and having Fallout 3 be capable of the same level of modding can only be a good thing
Mercs 1 I just picked up on a whim because Best Buy still had it out. Never had the original Xbox. I thought it was probably the best original Xbox game I've ever seen.
So I have my copy preordered on the PC too. Glad they're releasing the PC ver at the same time...that's just excellent.
I hear they're going to do a remake of Riddick for 360 and possibly ps3.
I played Riddick on the PC
Mercs 2 for PC is in dire need of a patch, but it's pretty good if you can stand the glitches and lack of 16:10. IMO the default settings are terrible (even after you change the res and visual quality, the draw distance was still set to pathetic on my box.)
I hope the patch comes out soon, cause I love the game overall.
Yeah, the game seriously needs a patch that includes a "World in Flames" mode (where you start over from the begining with your money and items from the previous game, elsewise, what's the point in getting them?), and some of the bugs.
