hmmmmm....... i just had a thought, what if pirates also had cap ships? which would only come out if the bounty is really really high
I'm not sure what u ppl think and maybe this is a bad idea( I dont really know if this is a bad idea or good idea), but it will certainly make the pirates more challenging
TEC: Average cap fleet- Two-three Kols, One Dunov, two Sovas, two Marzas, one Akkan.
Advent: Two Progenitors, two Halcyons, three Radiances, one Revelation (mostly for it's reveal sensors ability and it's ability for long range plasma and beam assault), two Raptures.
Vasari: One-Two Kortul(s), two Space Eggs, two Skirantas, one Antorak, one Vulkoras.
Best fleets possible. With their long range-assaults, fighter/bomber strikecraft, light attack weapons, high speed, repair abilities, and the power to smash entire fleets to bits instantly, yeah, that's my usual set-up by the end of mid game.
the kortgul devostator by far, it is so frickin hard to destroy and then throw in a Vulkoras and a Skirantra and you have one hell of a trio
You forgot the egg. To not include the egg when talking about Vasari is blasphemy.
ok only when you play quick strikes use them
Quoting on Blasphemy . . .

I like any colonizing capital ship (Akkan Battlecruiser, Jarrsul Evacuator, Prognitor Mothership.) because the firest one is free and I can kill natives and colonize planets at the same time! (I play easy.)
Samurye.
As TEC i go for the Kol after i get the Akkan as my freebee. The two make a formidable force, The Kol as a rediculusly large firing ark (so far as i know, the only blind spot is the starboard side, where the f***ing useless lazer battery is) and its auto cannons tear through most ships. The Marza is good two because it can seige planets with ease, and when given a decent escort its hard to crack it.
I seldom play advet, but when i do, i usually build a crud load of Progenitors. The Nomadic nature of that ship just feels right to me.
As the Vasari, nothing beats the fealing of going unicron on your enemies planet *laughs maniacly*
I agree though I seldom get my Capital ship to that level. (I play easy)
I love the screaming when the advent use thier mind abilities to cause disorder and death on a planet
"MEN, WE WILL PREVAIL AGAINST THE HUMANS!" "ALL HAIL EMPEROR PALPATINE!"
"BUT WE HAVE A TRAITOR IN OUR MIDST!"
"HAHAHAHAHA!"
I have an awful habit of sticking to one faction in RTS games. For Sins I'm a complete whore for the Advent, and I have yet to even play a game as Vasari. TEC's Marza Dreadnought is definitely my favorite cap of theirs though, Its offense is just great. For the Advent I kit out as many Carriers as I can: I love Strike Craft, and I love Lasers. That ship was built for me. For the same reason I like keeping a healthy escort of Illuminator beam-frigates.
The Advent Carrier, again, simply awesome:
- Broadside beam weapon batteries
- Holds more strike Craft per squad.
- Increases the refire rate of all friendly laser weapons in the local area. This can make an already deadly Advent fleet, absolutely lethal.
I like the Marza Dreadnaught supported by the shield generating/emp/magnetic cap ship. I was playing the demo last night. My homeworld came under 3 massive pirate attacks, supported by 4 enemy assault fleets at the same time.(they attacked in waves) I had a small support fleet along side the cap ships, but they soon fell to the assault. I watched as wave after wave of enemies assaulted the Krosus(Dreadnaught) while the Paladin(support cap ship) backed up its shields and deactivated theirs. The dreadnaught was using missile barrage after missile barrage, while its laser batteries and other guns, ripped through the enemy fleet. When it was all over, both the Paladin and the Krosus were heavily damaged.(Krosus:213 health, Paladin: 503 health) The planet stood and I only lost 3 orbital guns, a small fleet of frigates, and some bombers.
Danman's 7 Deadly Sins give the pirates capital ships, but they just protect their base. As for my favorite capital ships:
TEC: Either the Kol or the Marza. The Marza has the awesome missile barrage ability, but I don't like how it looks. The Kol looks totally awesome, plus I love the lazers. They almost remind me of the Death Star, except for the fact that they are red and incredibly weak in comparison.
Vasari: The Space Egg owns your souls! How can you not like a ship that can literaly eat a planet?
Advent: Either the carrier or the Radiance. The Radiance looks better, but nothing can top their carrier when it comes to swarms of fighters.
I love the Sovas embargo ability and it's design influenced by todays supercarriers. If only its hatches opened to release fighters instead of remaining open all the time...
I think cleansing brillance is awsome, so Radiance for Advant.
As for Vasari, I 100% agree their space whales are full of epic win.
advent-carrier.mostly becuese it looks awsome, can hold strikecraft, and i like its lvl 6 abillity(which i cant remember at the moment)
tec-KOL battleship. it looks cool and i pretty much hate the tec people.
alien dudes-planet bomber.its barrge abillity is pretty cool if thats the one that holds barrage...
P.S. i hate all but advent... well i dont hate alien dudes but i dont like em much so i LOVE advent
and i agree. if the pirates had cap-ships that would be freaking awsome(and hard)at the same time, but,BUT, keep in mind the pirates ships have no sheilds so it wont be as hard as fighting the tec or something who have sheilds...
Vasari:You mean they HAVE something other than space eggs? Oh ... space egg(Jarassul Evacuator), then ... whatever floats yer boat. Kortul ultimate mashes big fleets. Really, they are all strong ships, but you NEED a space egg. Nano-disassembler 3 is just so very, very wrong and drain planet is part of the raid a planet win a refund backbone of the Vasari economy.
Vasari ships are all highly useful, and ALWAYS useful. None of this situational crap.
Advent:Colonizer just because it's, well, a colonizer AND it brings back your crack crews. rapture tends to come out late unless I start with it (vengeance is nice for clearing things out on it's own). Halcyon if I'm going to swarm and/or have a lot of ships. Radiance if I want to send a ship in relatively unescorted for jobs. Revelation tends to come out LAST. AI for not shooting at ships with reverie on them (and firing it at ships not being shot at) is less than solid, so it's unreliable. Guidance is ok, but Concentration aura or amplify energy aura just seem nastier. Notwithstanding colonize ability(which sometimes makes me pick my colonizer earlier if my build order demands it).
Rapture(solo) Halcyon(with fleet) at the top, Rapture(solo), Progenitor(with fleet) next, Revelation I pull out the least often.
Advent have some very nasty ships, IMHO(Rapture/Halcyon), and some less nasty(Rapture/revelation). Their colony ship is solid, but lacks the near godhood of the sacred Vasari egg.
TEC:I confess I never found favorites in TEC. For hitting power, Marza is impressive if not interrupted using it's ultimate. It's non-ultimate powers are ... lackluster, but JUST the ultimate is worth getting them early. Kols don't have as godlike (or interruptable) of an ultimate, but are a solid slugger in a big fight. They will outperform the Marza against a player who knows how to counter channeled abilities, as the marza power takes 60(!!!!) seconds to use fully.Sova is too situational for my liking, and Dunov is too ... well, weak. Akkan sucks until you get it's ultimate. It's ultimate means it's over when you SAY it's over (at which point you warp back to repairs and nothing can shoot at you while you do). That ultimate on almost ANY other ship would blow me away, but the other 3 powers are painfully weak, IMHO (well colonize 1 is colonize 1, but level 2 and 3 are lackluster).
So ... Marza or Kol at the top, Sova and Dunov at the bottom, Akkan sitting on the side for when the build needs the first ship to be a colonizer.
TEC has a lot of substandard ships, a fact that is supposedly balanced by their economy. Unless your opponent will let you get away with leaving your Marza firing away for 60 seconds channeling, their cap ships are also on the weak side. I am trying ... a lot ... to find a way to salvage this bunch. I will thus be playing a bunch of single player TEC to hone my play skill with them and find a way to come out of the gate faster and stronger.
TEC: Sova Carrier
Advent: Progenitor Mothership
Vasari: Kortul Devastator
there's no "best" capital ship, it really depends on what you have
cap ships alone are pretty useless as monk already said... but not to build at least 2 - 3 with a big fleet is asking for a beating even more then making caps ships only....
people often underestimate cap ships value.... they just think it being big it carries some big guns aswell, also why people make the mistake of building combat capital ships at start (only TEC should take a marza as #1 cap ship for rushing)
cap ships are for support, you cant really live without one in the start, but you certainly can't live mid-game or late-game without high level cap ships aiding you (thats why i like advent, research wich beings all caps ships to level 4 in not alot of time
for TEC, get either an akkan on large maps (ion bolt = prolly strongest ability in game if you micro it...) Or a MARZA for a rusher, it has high damage, decent health, long range, and fast bombardment (prolyl best bomber due to RAZE ability)
for Vasari, always get Evacuator (egg) for start, it's colonize ability rlly helps, and nano- disassembly can be seriously fatal, especially to advent, who rely on shields... fire 1 or 2 of those bolts on a progenitor, and have about 10 assailants with 2 levels of phase missle shield bypass wil take it out, even without fully depleting shields (thus avoiding the shield recharge ability)
for Advent, Progenitor is relatively weak.. but still the best starting choice for it gives 20% discount on upgrading civilain infrastructure on newly colonized planets for a short time.. level 2 increases it to 40% and level 3 even goes to 60% (think how much stuff you can build with the 60 % PER UPGRADE,
NOTE FOR ADVENT: ever tried to colonize a planet with 60% discount + having improved scryers (guys who search for artifacts) on level 2?? if you do this, and search a planet you'll see it'll cost 0 credits - metal and 0 crystal (both levels)
do this on a few newly colonized planets and dam you'll find you get alot out of your money there...
I just got the game and fell in love with the advent. general i use 1 of each type and the rest filled with carriers the bomber swarm is just overwelming.
of course i have a large suport fleet of cheap frigs and combat cruisers. so far i haven't found a match for ti in single player. (highest difficulty) even tec flak cannons just wont stop a swarm like mine.
I always go for the Kol because it's a beast that can chew up anyother cap out there any day of the week!
ima have to say for the TEC the Kol battleship (sheer firepower)
Radiance BS for the Advent
and Antorak Marauder for the Vasari (i love its phase gate ability)
if modded ships count, then the Sovereign class battleship for the CRF in my mod (Exiles wrath), the sucker can easily take down three or four kols/radiances/devastators
