We've been waiting on this day since she left for Germany over 20 years ago Dale! So you can imagine how excited I am about this! I've gone through several lead singers over the years, but, well, they weren't Sherlyn's caliber, no where near.
So while I was busy dealing with fakes and flakes in the US, Sherlyn was slaying her audiences in Germany so tough, she became a permanent resident and citizen occasionally returning to the US on a German Visa!
Well, we'll see what I can hook up with the Administrators here once we record and at worse, I can post it somewhere like YouTube, or even mail you a DVD. Either way, you will hear us Dale!
Tell your Son that I'd love to hear him one day and to practice hard, because you perform the way you practice! He doesn't want me walking up to his drum set and leave him scratching his head wondering, "I didn't know my drums could do that!"
Stay tuned Bro...
There's inspiration for him if ever I've heard it, just wait till he reads this
Uh huh, you can show him this too!
Whoooee!!! thanks Cp, I can't remember what his drumkit is called, although I know it cost a small fortune, its about the same size as yours, he has just finished a jazz course in Cape Town and all the bands are clamouring for his drum skills, I think he wants to try and make his living as a session drummer, bloody good money, he is doing really well, I'm so proud of the wee bugger, his only twenty and drums like an old pro, maybe one day you two can have a session togther, what you think
That's way cool being a proud parent of your son's accomplishments Dale! Once I get my band across the Atlantic Ocean a musical tour of your area is extremely possible!
But if your son dares to sit down with me, he has to bring his chops. Not to demeanor his skill level on percussions, but I've been playing for 45 years and instructing for over 30!
So IF I feel the adrenaline rush from any competition, I pull stuff out that people can only imagine and leave them thinking was that even invented or even humanly possible?
Bottom line bro (after all that crap talk, 'cause that's what drummers do) it would be an honor for me to one day jam with your Son!
FYI: I play a 9 piece Tama Rockstar, the Redwood Forrest of cymbals are all Zildjian A Customs. Cymbals alone for this kit was nearly $3000 US. I also have an equally aggressive looking Roland Electric Set which usually sits behind me on stage and providing there's room that's not pictured, which cost me around $5000.
But as your Son has proven to you, they actually do pay for themselves and then some if you practice hard enough.
if you need some hip hop vocals, chorus layers or DJing call me CP...Would love to collaborate with my brother and his niece...Oh and by the way hello sheyln
Um, Cp, that's not a drum kit... that's a whole percussion section. Well compared to what me and my mates messed around with in the 60's, it is.
Oh, and when I read that Sherlyn has a vocal range of 7 octaves, I got goose bumps and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up... such is my anticipation of hearing such a voice..
Hey Sherlyn... with unca Curtis drumming you up (pun intended) to be this wonderful and gifted songstress, it's gonna be sheer heaven to hear you sing... can't wait.
With all that talent, what I should do is scoop your ass up and force you to tour with us Jack. Are you ready to hit up a bunch of US cities and Europe? I'll tell Sherlyn you said hello brother or you can go on tour and meet her yourself.
Touche` Sir Starkers
Out in Germany Sherlyn is known as "Our Beautiful SoulDiva" Starkers. She's their National Treasure. I've personally performed with some great female vocals such as Vesta Williams, Patrice Rushen and MartaG, Sherlyn's range compared to these ladies is virtually unlimited. Stupid scary!
I can't wait either my friend, it's all in the mix and being put together as we speak! If my band works hard enough, I see us making it over to Europe somewhere in the Spring '09.
call in and pick vStyler up on the way too Curtis....damn what a voice!...
vStyler and I were on topic about a musical collaboration earlier this year Sydney, we haven't made any plans of yet, and with the GUI's around the corner, the man's a little busy.
But I do plan on chopping it up with John Gordon soon after. Especially if he's bringing a voice like that!! I haven't heard him yet, but now I'm dying to!
You know what? If I steal vStyler and Skinhit and force them into the commitment and life of musically endeavored tours, that could last for several months at a time, who's going to skin? Personally I think the communities of WC, SA, MS and DA would put a hit out on me if I did that!
But their families would beat the shit out of me first!
And see, being an amature kidnapper, all the cops need to do is trace me here and I'm smooth busted! They know where I hang out!
talked him into doing one of my favourites....."I See A Darkness".....get him to send it to you......
I'll take singing over skinning anyday
Let me hear it brother, please! Drop a link or e-mail it!
Lookin' forward...
Johnny Gordon...

Johnny Cash...

Well, I re-did all the music on my PC and Midi Keyboard using virtual synths and strings, drums, bass etc.. and I sang some of the harmonies on another track, the other voice you hear in the chorus' is my bro-in-law Freddy.
WOW! Damn John, I already knew you were a one-man-show, but sweet geez that was a beautiful song! Is that all your instrumentation and vocalization?
The music reminded me of the Folk era of maybe Harry Chapin or Gordon Lightfoot, absolutely scrumptious sound brother!
I describe this Folk era sound as something that'll get you home-sick really quick if you're far away. It goes beyond the ears and penetrates your heart and soul.
But straight from the heart, I love this song and it's all around sound quality. The brilliant structure was on lock.
I'm just astonished that you aren't already on tour headlining somewhere with this! This God-given wonderful talent of yours is a highly lucrative and extremely marketable product!
My questions for you John is, do you like to ROCK? How do you feel about the Blues? Do you feel the Rhythm? Do you like having fun on stage? Do you enjoy performing in front of crowds?
We'd have to swap sound samples and stack our tracks until we all finally do get together.
Hit me back dude, we may have something very special here,..
C
Haha... I wouldnt go that far Curtis, sure, I love rock, but I'm no screamer.. I wont be doing any Sammy Hagar tunes
Lemme see if I can dig up a couple more tunes, and upload em to my site, Johnny Cash really wasn't my thing, just something I was asked nicely to try, seemed to turn out well, as for that track, yeah, other than the chorus harmonies its all me, me and my PC and Mic.. took bloody ages too... All multitracked in Ableton live and sang over and over till I felt I got it right.
I think it'd be fun to try do some kinda compilation, if we could decide on something mutually.
thought the song would bring out the deep richness in his voice....and...it did......
That's what I'm talkin' 'bout baby boy!

Couple of Rob Thomas songs, just singing along to music.
Yeah, well it was my way of saying WOW... now that's one awesome setup. My mates and I used to mess around with a very basic kit that didn't even have a proper set of drumsticks, so in comparison yours is the entire percussion section.[

Yep, keep putting out these little teasers... it's building the anticipation to a creschendo, so that when I eventually get to hear this magically wonderful voice, I'll be in seventh heaven and get a warm all over fuzzy feeling.
We're a Rhythm and Blues band JG, no screaming Sammy Hagar needed! What I meant by do you like to ROCK, can you extend and jam a song that's four minutes into eight or nine minutes because your audience is begging you to?
Can you draw an audience in like that? It's called audience participation and it's up to the band and lead singer to give them what they came for!
Truth be told, when my band starts to jam, the audience never sits down.
I'm going to e-mail you one of the songs we perform with lyrics because I truly believe it's in your vocal range. Try it on for size, remove the original voice then add your voice to it!
Hit me back and let me know if it's to your liking and we'll go from there.
