It is amazing to me the way some people think. They cry that racism is being thrown about by some people (especially blacks), when they themselves are doing the very same thing. They cry that the only reason why blacks do support Obama, is because he is in fact, black!
Is there any truth to the fact that blacks do support Obama, yes, there is. If he is the candidate that they want to support, why shouldn't they support him? If he is the candidate in the political party they support, is it so wrong to be behind the candidate they believe in?
I guess they should switch party affiliations just because so many don't believe in anything this candidate, Obama, stands for, and what they the people who support the Republican candidate do, and are crying foul, believe in!
Sure, Obama being black is a trump card, he is different, never has this happened before in our country, so why not?! This would be the reasons why so many of Obama's supporters, support him right? To coin a phrase, we are like sheep!
Bring me arguments about the state of our country and what is going on in our country, and why there should be changes made so that WE ALL can live a better life and whether are not we have to worry about ALL THAT WE HAVE ALL WORKED SO HARD FOR OVER THE YEARS is all going down the toilet!
Don't bring me crap shoot arguments whining about the fact that a candidate is Black, and that he loves to bring this information up himself, and that all he seems to do is say that he is black, when this fact is quite obvious to EVERYONE! What the freck is the really issue here? The fact that so many can't get over the fact that he is the one chosen as the candidate to represent the Democratic party, and he happens to be black?
Or, the fact that the American people are tired of the ruling government and all the crap that they have done over the years that has begun to affect our country? So they want change, and they will have it! Are you going to be effective in your citizenship and go out there and also let yourself be heard, or are you going to stay out of it just because "Obama will get everyone's vote because HE IS BLACK and White America wants to prove that they are not racist and will also vote for him and that is the only reason why they will vote for him"?
You who believe such crap are doing a disservice to yourself and to your fellow Americans! It is bullshit crap like this that makes us all look bad and it is time to get up off of the toilet or take a shit and do or say something more constructive! Not come at me with crappy arguments that is riddled with holes!
For God's sake wake up people! Of course we all will notice that Obama is Black, just the same that we all notice that McCain is so much older and looks like a hard wind would blow him over! Now was that not me being discriminative about McSame...I mean, McCain's age?! [and wans't that me being rude and disrespectful in calling him McSame?!] We all can do it, we just chose to take the higher road and be respectful!
I am worried about the economy, the fact that gas prices are so high, that the boomerang effects from that has cost jobs, higher prices in the supermarkets, housing slumps all over! People are out there hanging on to their life and livihood for dear life, and some of you only have stupid arguments to insult our intelligence!
Oh GROW UP!
Adressing the town-hall meetings scenario, he refused because of one small issue that the media has failed to recognize: the agreement was only on the term that the audiance would be hand-picked by McCain. If I were Obama, I'd also be iffy about attending those types of meetings. In a debate, Obama will come across as a highly inspirational, albeit inexperienced and questionable, man, and McCain will come across as an experienced politico used to playing the Washington game. Pick your poison.
Adressing the original post: I could not agree more completely, BUT, everyone needs to realize that race is not Obama's trump card. The more race is mentioned, the more it hurts him. There is more concern in our caucasian nation of Obama being racist than McCain. The only people that would really care if McCain was a racist would be the minorities, which Obama has already secured. Most Americans would be terrified if they thought that Obama was racist, since it would directly affect them. Obama is not unintelligent, and he recognizes this. He wants race to become as small of an issue as possible, forgetting the days that Reverend Wright sound bites and fist-bump conspiracies dominated the cable news networks.
AD, I agree with your opinion, honestly! I hope I'm not coming across as that his, Obama's race should be a trump card?! It is a novelty because never before as one such as he, (race) been at that position) however, I, just like many of his supporters, would like this not to be the reason why so many are afraid. I do understand the fear of "what ifs" but how can he stand a chance when he is not being given one, not being treated or looked at fairly just because of what he is? My point in this article was to say, enough already! We need to look at the factors that are important, not just that he is a black man running for president!
Redgloves, if that is the case I can't say I blame Obama either!
To be fair to Hillary, personally, I think she lost because she was being condenscending and petty! Plus her husband took over her campaign half of the times! She did what she did and she ran a good race! I'll give her credit for that because she showed strength and charisma in the face of everything.
Obama is damn if he does and damn if he doesn't because if he doesn't show confidence, he doesn't know what he's doing, if he talks too much, he should be quiet and less assertive, if he goes overseas, he shouldn't have gone, meanwhile, before that, he hasn't been anywhere and is out of touch with the troops, etc.! Go figure!
This is a bill of particulars that many, many of us share. But let's think about it..when did it all really start to take shape?
One of the latest emails that is being circulated reminded me of the following and is well worth taking into consideration:
Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. And for 7 of those years, the ecomony was doing pretty well.
As little as over one year ago consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high. Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon. The unemployment rate was 4.5%. The Dow Jones hit a record high at 14,000 +. Americans were buying cars and taking vacations.
But some AMercians wanted change, so in 2006, they voted for a Democrat congress and yes siree, we got "change". ...the kind of change that I would venture lead to your particular bill of particulars which are like so many others....
In the past year, consumer confidence plummeted, gasoline went to over $4.00 a gallon. Unemployment went up to 5% ....a 10% increase and 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
Yes, there is. It's called "change" that Obama promises to bring if he is elected. How much more of this kind of change can you take is what is at issue.
Why should anyone support Obama?
If you like high taxes you should support him.
If you support socialism.
If you support marxism.
"much more qualified"....Obama should come back after he is old and gray and perhaps serve in the war somewhere....then again....maybe he should marry a presiding presidential female...but too late for that...then again, run for governor somewhere, become governor and have a father who was President before....wait..too late for that too....also too late for learning to do anything like some of the politicians before him...AD with all due respect, just me being sarcastic!
Let's face it, Obama won't win, he doesn't stand a chance and if I were him, I would run for the hills and forget about running for President of these United States!
How far back do you want to go? Lets face it, the economy slumping has happened from time to time, and the rebound has taken place to make up for those losses. However, this is the first time it has been such a struggle because of the boomerang effects that has finally caught up to our great President, and to the people who have made really large mistakes!
In essence it is going to be change or more of the same as McCain promises, which would you rather have? Of course, no need to answer that one!
Like I said above....see my response to Adventure Dude!
That is the "Odacity of Hope" ... isn't it? I feel the same way as you do. Why in the world take all that abuse and nonsense???? for what? ... people get the government they deserve .... this is a very true statement.
What did they get by electing a moron twice? i hope they are happy ... and it seems that a lot of them ARE happy ..
I dont know what they are happy about ... but what do I know?.
The country is falling apart in all international and domestic areas and the income of everyone except 0.1% is down and getting worse and we still face the same terror as in 2001 ... and still people like that ... and they are defending it !!!!!!!!!!so why bother ...
I guess that is the difference between us and Obama. If he wins it will be the miracle of the century. ....
Then again.... didnt we go to the moon and came back? ... several times no less??!!!
nothing the people of this country can't do if they really want to. If they dont ... then they deserve what they get.
Amen to that! The Amendments voted for the people who are chosen,...it is all guess work after all, and we can only cross our fingers and pray for what we hope the outcome we want!
And I thank you for sharing your views! Most of the men who have been President, were Governors, I guess this disqualifies Obama, anyone else but Obama, this is a one-dimentional way of thinking.
Other than being a US citizen born in the United States of America and over the age of requirement?
Other than having the qualities to be a great leader, sound judgement, being able to make decisions, the right ones, (and as we all know, half of the time, most of the Presidents in power, do not make the right decisions - thus this is not necessarily a requirement I guess!).
As for "related" experience, it is not a requirement that political experience makes you a good President, it does help, and in that case, Senator Obama may just be a Junior Senator in the US Senate, however, prior to that he was a Senator for the State of Illinois for about 8 years, he was a lawyer.
You know what else, Obama exudes the confidence & eloquence that we need in our leadership, not fumbling and bumbling. He also seems to have a vision of where our country could be, that others don't seem to see. But so many of his naysayers consider this to be a bad trait, too cocky and definitely talks too much....more good qualities for a great leader!lol!
Technically, if experience is really what the people are looking for, then either Guiliani, Romney or Huckabee should have been the frontrunner!
You can peruse this website to get more details on the "related" experience of Barack Obama.
I'm having trouble pasting th elink AD, sorry about that!
