This mod adds custom races to the game based on races from the various Stargate television series. At present it includes the Ancients, Wraith, Asgard, Goa'uld and the Ori.
Ancients:
A race that uses larger, more powerful ships to compose the basis of their fleet. You will have a fraction of the number of ships in your fleet but many of them are more comparable in power to a capital ship for other races than to a frigate. Ancient capital ships are immensely powerful and include the fabled Atlantis city ship. They are also able to build Space Gates that allow near instant travel between planets, allowing them to easily shift their fleet resources as needed.
Wraith:
A race whose ships do not have shields but who compensate with increased hull points, armor and regeneration rates. They have a wide selection of cruisers of varying power but only one type of capital ship, Hives, which are the heart of their fleet.
Asgard:
A race whose ships focus on shields and mobility. Asgard vessels and structures have low hull point scores but all have shield points. While they may not have dramatically more shield points than other races, their shields are superior in mitigation factors and mitigation build-up, with multiple research entries for improvements. The Asgard fleet employs no strikecraft but makes up for the lack thereof with superior anti-fighter weaponry on various ships and structures and a notable advantage in mobility. Sublight and hyperspace engines are highly advanced and provide superior mobility in both local gravity wells as well as interplanetary & interstellar travel and the Asgard empire tree provides numerours upgrades which provide further mobility advantages.
Goa'uld
A parasitic race who pose as gods to their subjects. A powerful economy and formiddable diplomatic and cultural tools combine to make them a force to be reckoned with. They may only have a handful of frigates and cruisers but most serve several functions. Powerful capital ships anchor their fleet and complete their tools for conquest.
Ori
An offshoot of the Ancient race founded on fanatical belief in ascended beings who call themselves the Ori. Governed by the Priors, living beings empowered by the Ori to impose their will, the followers of Origin are empowered by the the vast knowledge of the universe that their ascended overlords possess. The Ori fleet is composed of a full compliment of ships varying in size but all very powerful. Even the smallest frigates are protected by powerful shields and the massive capital ships are capable of engaging entire enemy fleets by themselves as they spread Origin across the universe or destroy all those who refuse to submit to the will of the Ori.

I've been having a lot of fun with this mod. I like the new ancients ships.
My one complaint is a gameplay annoyance that's mainly due to the way Sins handles roletypes. I noticed that you gave the Goauld Hatak multiple roletypes, including siege, carrier, and heavy cruiser (fits in with the series). I'm guessing that you gave them the Siege roletype in addition to the others so that the stupid old AI would know to use them to bomb planets (and to keep it from minidumping because it couldn't find a siege unit).
Unfortunately when you gave the Hatak the siege roletype along with other ones, the siege roletype takes precendence and all Hataks want to do automatically is bomb planets. This is really bad when there's other things in the gravity well shooting back at them. Hataks are the Goauld's mainline ship and heavy cruiser. Unfortunately since they have the siege roletype, I have to micromanage them to death whenever I go attacking.
Would you consider giving the Alkesh a planet bombing ability and giving it the Siege roletype instead of the Hatak? Hataks are supposed to be able to bombard planets, but with the Siege roletype that's all they want to do (without being micromanaged to death). However, without the siege roletype I doubt the AI would use Hataks to bomb planets after they finish attacking everything else (even if they have a bombeffect and canbomb=true). The player should still be able to use them to bomb planets. With the Alkesh in the Siege roletype instead, the AI would still be able to bomb planets without forcing the player to micromanage every Hatak in the same gravity well as an enemy planet.
Yeah, I know the Ha'tak do that and yes, they had to have the role so the AI wouldn't wet itself.
I know it's a bit of an annoyance but I did not want the al'Kesh doing planet bombing. Ha'tak should be the planet bombers here. I have considered tweaking things somehow but nothing satisfactory comes to mind. In the end it actually doesn't work too bad. The Ha'tak only have passive buff abilities anyways and their weapons are equal on all four sides so it really doesn't matter if they are bombing the planet while defending themselves as well. In many ways, that makes them nastier I think. It does mean that by default their attack strategy is a bit odd and counterintuitive if you don't micromanage.
Their default attack strategy makes me pull my hair out.
First off really enjoying the mod thanks to all that helped.
Is their by chance a list of all the SG planet types in the mod i could look at without trying to play them all a few times to find the strengths of each
To clarify something like (Urban planets will sustain huge populations up to xxxx depending on you race, Or industrial planets will offer up to a 100% increase in ship build speeds) anything like that? thanks
No, sorry there is no documentation like that. The added planet types in GalaxyMod/SGGalaxy are those from Sins Plus though. If you look at the information posted for Sins Plus, you can get a run down of the planet types possible.
After a few months without playing SoaSE I'm trying to get the latest version of your SG Galaxy Mod, but the link seems to be dead....
Not sure what's going on there. I'll take a look at it later when I have a chance. All the other mods are hosted on the same site/account and are working fine.
Speaking of coincidence... Megaupload has been shut down today...
Yeah, just heard that. Thank you FBI/Big Goverment/Big Brother and a precurssor to SOPA/PIPA I'm sure
I guess the mods are going to be unavailable for a bit guys, until I find a new filehost I can live with. My day to day has been kinda busy as of late so it might be a little while.
dolynick if you like I could upload a copy to my filefactory area as a temp set.
edit just checked my file sets and I do NOT have the fleetsize d 1.03, but do have the other latest version files, and do have the fleetsized1.02
harpo
Thanks harpo but I've already created my own filefactory account now.
I have updated the thread with new download links for the three smaller mods. GalaxyMod and SGGalaxy will have to wait for tomorrow when I have time to tie up my bandwidth with the larger transfers for a while.
Sorry for the bit of a delay but all mods now have active download links again.
Dolynick, wtf dude, so why can't you put your 3 mods for this on something REALLY free to the users, like moddb? This effing site, yeah i'm talking about the stupid File factory SUCKS!!!
The reason it sucks is that you get 1 download for free then you have to wait 1330 fucking seconds for the next!!!!!!!!!!!
If you really think lots of players are gonna waste 2 hours waiting to download your mods and install them and play them... YOU ARE SADLY MISTAKEN!!!
I used to love to play your mods, but mods are FREE, therefore NO fucking site, like file factory has any damn rights to charge us to download something free.
That is just so much effing greed, it's not damn funny!!
really sux that megaupload got shut down.. guess they weren't paying enough to the greedy corps like filefactory might be!!!
why not file planet? or anything else that doesn't suck hughly?
Hey i love the mod! But i encountered this problem when i was trying to play the wraith. It would not let me research any armor upgrades or hull regen upgrades. Considering that this is a major factor in playing with the wraiths i cant keep playing knowing that somewhere later in the game i will have been overrun because of one research glitch. What do you need from me to get me to fix it? Like a save game file or what?
This has come up for several players. I have looked and looked and there is nothing wrong with the entities for the research. I think the problem is the mod not loading correctly. I'm guessing that you started up Sins, loaded the mod(s) and then immediately started the game? Try restarting Sins after you load the mods the first time. If you already have the mods loaded from the last time you play (IE they load when Sins starts up) you should be ok. I think I have personally only had this happen to me once, and it was because I hadn't restarted Sins after loading the mods. Normally I already have them activated when I start Sins.
The problem with File Planet is that files only stay linked for 30 days. File Factory gives you 90 days from the last download. And no, I don't like File Factory either but it did offer the best persistency and file limits of the ones I looked at. I didn't know about the large wait between downloads though. Making money had nothing to do with choosing File Factory.
Sorry you don't like the current hosting situation but seriously, there is no need to fly off the handle and bitch at me like that. You don't pay a cent to play the mod and I donate a huge amount of time to make it and share it with you guys to enjoy too. So, with all due respect, if you want to be like that you can just piss off. You could have just simply mentioned that there was a significant wait between downloads and kept the assitude to yourself. I honestly don't care if you don't play the mod, I made it because its the mod I wanted to play and then offered it freely to anyone who also wanted to play something like it. Its people like you who make me wonder why I bother or continue to be being part of a game community like this.
Well i love this mod. You really did a fabulous job on it. Thank you
Unfortunately the forums are kinda slow right now some dumb ass posts like this stick out. Your mod is fun and one of the first ones I played for Sins. Thanks again, don't mind the douche bags too much.
A side question for you. I believe I have SGRaces working where it will stack with my mod. Have any objections to that? I can leave it in or take out with a simple change so no worries if you don't want that.
On the technical stuff I'm not actually packaging any of your mod except for the Strings and GalaxyScenarioDef entries so they would still have to download the right version of SGRaces to stack with my stuff.
I have no issues with that. If you do happen to use anything all I ask is that you give proper credit... You should check the readme file as well as some things are not entirely my own work as well so the credit may not only be to me.
As for his post, it was not a great morning and it probably irked me more than it should have. Still it annoys me when someone cops attitude when they are getting user generated content for free and feel they need to complain or just plain be rude. It's like biting the hand that feeds you.
Cool, no problem on the credit deal either. Basically, your current version of the mod will be compatible with my mod, though this can always change with future releases on your part. I haven't decided if I'll do any further integration with my mod like my diplomacy extensions or flagships. I guess it would depend on if people like this sorta thing, but as it stands I don't want to modify any of the core elements of your mod.
Well that fixed the problem thx.
Whats with Filefront, Gamefactory (or Gamefront, dont know the right name) or on Moddb? Why f****ng Filefactory?
So much rage.
I wanted to try your mod. But I have the same problems with filefront "All free download slots are in use"!
Cry!
Hey dolynick, thanks for making the mod, it took me a while but I eventually got it downloading. I must say, I quite enjoy using the Anicents, but that's generally because I tend to favour the powerhouse races anyway. Don't let any of the others get you down or annoyed, there is nothing wrong with enjoying the frustrations of those who never thank you modders for all the awesome work you guys do.
