This had begun as a collection of starships based upon the Star Fleet Universe and other sources and has now evolved into the development of a full complete mod.

I gladly accept ideas for this mod and collect ships that you make to add to the ship sets. Feel free to share your ideas. I'd love to see your screenshots as well.
thats a velosorapter
o found this post maded by seth this is a decription of a Geckodon.
Which post is that from?
Damn edit button. Geckodons also can have dark brown skin with red marking although it is rare for that to happen.
I left notes on their color.
Nope. Remember in this not all Orions are biological Orions. Kinda like how you don't have to be Mandalorian to be a Mandalorian in Star Wars.
They have psychic powere but only to communicate with there identical quadruplets. All Veltressai are born quadruplets. So I guess the portrait should show 4 of them. May not be a big deal.
Oh and I made a mistake with the Seltorians. The Queens don't run the goverment. Its the Sages that do:
Yeah I know they look so different.
one of yours
the origanl Geckdon thread
To answer Freeman's questions. The Talosian's are from Talos. The only planet placed in quarentine by the Federation. And to break that quarentine brings the death penalty. It was a planet that Captian Pike found in the Orignal pilot. They are Dwarf sized and had the same head shape as the Veltressai. One of many races just assumed to be part of the Federation in F&E.
In the orginal show, only a small part of the Orion Females were green and treated as sub-servant. The Enterprise series changed all of that. Making the females in charge and the men slaves to them. In SFB and FASA games. Orions were just the modern space version of the old Caribbean Pirates. Just about any race could become an "Orion Pirate" Officaly, Orion was part of the Federation at the start. The "pirates" were those who did not support the joining. But they were unofficaly sanctioned by the Orion goverment. The Cartels covered all of known space and every empire. And would attack anyone or trade with anyone they felt like. Humm...me thinks that Captian Jack Sparrow would like to work for them.
What he said.
Anyway. Anyone know someone who could do the work? Artwork that is.
Too bad... Vina, Maras, Neras or Navaar from TOS as Orion slave girls could have been photogenic enough for leaders!
There's sooooo much editing graphic tricks & filters that could be applied to any true images that i doubt even Paramount people would notice a GC2 leader image IS actually inspired by real pictures.
Which is to say, i might give this a try. And send it in once done.
Hay Ronin,
First off love the art work, best of luck on that.
Hay I wanted to run a tech tree idea by yeah. Ithought I might use it in my mod as well, but I think it could work for your mod as well. OK, bare with me its in the rough draft stages:
All the ships sizes are avaiable from the start, ie Huge, through tiny. To balance it out the capacity of ships is really low, such that the tiny hulls can not carry engines, which is good and represents the fact that fighters can not travel without carriers until the fighter warp/hyperdrive engines are developed.
Instead you, develop ship role techs, such as carriers, destroyers, cruisers, battleships, command cruisers. These serve as commonents that you attach to your ships just like some of the new components in TA, like the warp bubble could be used to create a "carrier" maybe tweak it a bit. The others I am still working on, maybe destroyer adds weapons and ship speed at the same time, its really a matter of examining the various roles of each ships class, IE Destroyer, Cruiser, Battleships, Frigate and so on and trying to translate that to the game. I think it might be cool because it would allow people to really develop a fleet in their own fightinng style, big and powerful or quick and manuverable, you could also assign a style to each faction spo the Federation builds well rounded ships, the Klingons build slow powerful ships and so on.
I'll give some thought but my initial thinking is that the Federation started with small ships and as time passed the ships got bigger and bigger because they had the technology researched for that.
Ohh I agree, its more the idea is that todays large ships are tommorrows medium, so it a matter of perspective. Like the M26 Pershing was a wwII heavy tank, but by the Korean War it was redesignated a medium tank. So the Huge hulls would have very little to work with a latter meduim ships component count, it just gives you the chance to build a well rounded fleet early on, and really those early fleets will be the most speacialized since they will all have limited carring capacity really forcing the player to really think out what each ship will do.
Shhhhhoots! You've just revealed how the X-Worlds fleets are going to work out.
The only 'difference' is the fact that some if not most pre-designed versions are NOT meant to serve as templates (or ready to deploy ships) but rather offer the opportunity to fit components (including miniaturization restrictions, btw) as soon as the proper tech is available. The trick was to *still* make the entire Hulls default node relevant.
This way, the player can get a grasp of the whole schema at once while sub-consciously planning ahead with wanted assets for an eventual particular task.
It always 'bugged' me why this sort_of shipyard feature wasn't given to us as an option at least.
Many Bothan spies died to get us this information.
Now we know his plans. His fleets will be shattered and his worlds will burn and Emperor Zyxpsilon shall suffer like no one has before.
Yup, i paid them too.
By the way Z I fixed my problem with the title screen. I made a copy to the png background I had and renamed it with the same name as the bik file that handled the Terror Star animation. I renamed the file extenion to the pic from png to bik. I put it in the mod folder and presto it was fixed.
I can't tell you guys how much fun this is making the Total Conversion mod.
Don't worry about it saying v1.91. That is the version that's currently on my laptop and I've been doing most of the work on there since I can take it to work. Anyway what I'm getting that is I took the mod folder and put it on my desktop computer that has v1.96 and it work perfectly. So I guess so far it should work on every version of Twilight of Arnor.
As you can see the original races of Galactic Civilizations 2 are gone and replaced by mine. So so far so good. Those are temporary portraits by the way. Also you can see that there is room for 3 major races in the future.
And finally I just checked the library and I see the last of the major race ships are on there for you to enjoy while you wait for the mod to get done. Today my project is to work on the minor races and the tech trees.
YAY! Sets up a 10 liter container of Coke and grabs a case of pretzles. In preperation of play a game with all the races.
Ronin:
I have noticed that the Ship config for the Hydran is misnamed. It says (test.shipconfig) instead of (colonyship.config). I tried changing it to the right name. Then tried the game. No ship, just the defalt colony ship. So you need to do a tweek there.
Russ
Wow looks like this is coming together nicely AF!!! Grats on that! Cant wait for this to come out and start treking! I know you had to stop work on the Chandley, just wanted to see if you had come up with any new ideas for it or if its totally out due to the angles on the ship?
Raises hand again...not wanting to be a pest. But Ronin? Where can I get the logo for the Tholian's? It was not in the download package. Also did you decide not to put in any ship photos for the ISC?
I fixed it, its await approval now. In the meanwhile, download this and it will fix your problem:
http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=790
Ok fixed that and its awaiting approval. In the meanwhile just copy this:
Yes. The ISC were not very creative in their ship design. Basically they built the same ship over and over again just smaller or bigger. Didn't feel I needed to show the same ship again and again. Also I had finished that one the same day I just did the Hydrans so I was feeling lazy.
Good to hear, i went the 'other' way by creating a smaller bik and cornering it for X-Worlds it seems!
Defiant is no longer underneath the DL menu on the TA interface.
Btw, i've got to share something about proper calibration of images on the title screens;
With CoSH, i wanted to have Superman flying from his bottom Logo to the smaller TerrorStar while KEEPING the default animation. The solution was to somehow curve the red-yellow trail to swoop below the menu. Once clicked, a "reddish comment" would underlay that elliptic trick and still be far enough to unlock the trio of Planets revealed once the animation 'stops'. At 1280x1024 though, i'll have to adapt the scripter to compensate for a 1680x1050 monitor as the menu is off centered to the 'thunder_bar' and the title text.
Neat, agree?
