Welcome to the 7 DEADLY SINS mod, as featured in PC GAMER by DANMAN .
Welcome to 7 Deadly Sins 2.5 FINAL for the latest version of Sins Entrenchment 1.053.7DS can only be played at HIGH maximum settings. DO NOT USE VERY HIGH settings. This will cause a minidump. Also, there is an issue with Win7 64 bit. You will get crashes, load errors, or the game will not even play, with or without warning. Just keep reloading the game and trying until you actually get into the game and play. This is a Windows problem, not a problem with Sins or 7DS.
7 Deadly Sins is:
The ultimate combo mod, the "unoffical" expansion of Sins of a Solar Empire, or so it has been dubbed by the mod community. The work of many individual modders working together under my leadership (DANMAN3712).Nearly 4 years old and downloaded in various forms over 100k times worldwide and in 5 languages.

Mobile Starbases -all races possess starbases that can move about the gravity well to interdict enemy forces -assault carefully.
12 Playable Races with their own traits that make them more unique, from being a total offensive race, to a highly researching race. Each race now has its own unique tactics of gameplay.
Trader Emergency Coalition- solely based on trade and swarming, with little military might Corpo-Nations that have rebelled against the Trade Order. Their military might stripped, they have turned to allying themselves with various factions and hiring mercs for protection. TEC has new Battlecruisers, mercenary contracts, and EMP shells that bypass shields to a small degree.Trade Coalition Armada- the military arm of the Trade Order Once the development arm of the Trade Order, they are now the last hope for the Trade Order and humanity. Their ships are bricks with extreme range railguns.
TCA has state of the art weapons on traditional capitalships plus the Dresden and Athena Dreadnought and Beta Kol Titan. The Orion Unity- modified Orion and Advent Combine Some Orion split with the Atlantian-Orion Combine to guide the Advent towards their ultimate evolutionary stage. TOU ships are stronger, faster and deadlier; They can even travel between worlds using the Phase Stabilizer technology of the Tempest Titan. Ship research boosts weapon performance.
DARK FLEET- modified Vasari The Dark Fleet is all that remains of the Vasari. Where the weak Exodus ran often and fought rarely, the Dark Fleet seeks total dominion through force of arms. Their 5 Titan ships roam looking for prey. Play style is familiar with greater armor, firepower and destructive potential.
Imperial Armada- from Star Wars Guided by a clone of General Thrawn, the wasteland armadas of the Imperial Armada can employ powerful Force Alchemical Technology and even unleash the power of the Executor Super Star Destroyer. Can unlock Jedi and/or Sith Holocrons for performance boost to defenses or offenses respectively -and at the expense of the other.
Rogue Cadre- Playable, custom pirates Rob, pilfer, and steal your way to greatness. The Rogue Cadre is a melting pot of human cultures, Advent refugees and what remains of the Vasari. They have gathered against the TCA, TOU, Atlantian-Orion Combine and TOC to free humanity from tyranny, mysticism and slavery. Posess the Precursor Titan and The Machine -the latter capable of capturing capitalships
Arilou Vanguard- UFO race from the Star Control Games Not being of this dimension, the Arilou do not rely on money and normal means of transport or construction. They simply spawn ships from their "motherships", and travel through Quasispace, which propels them at near instant speeds from planet to planet.
Ur-quan KohrAh Third Doctrinal Fleet- Death race from the Star Control games Totally aggressive, the Korh-Ah are built for battle. They are all offense, and barely any defense. They focus on exterminating every race and every planet they find, and almost every ship is capable of boming from orbit. Their goal is to "cleanse" the universe of all other sentient life, anything that is not an Ur-Quan.
Ur-Quan KzerZa Third Doctrinal Fleet- Slaving race from the Star Control games Unlike their Kor-Ah cousins, the Kzer-Za believe in a diplomatic approach, let alone old habits of enslaving entire races into their Hierarchy. They have grown from their 10,000 year old ways, and are more good than bad now.
Atlantian-Orion Combine- the ultimate race, the seeders of life (the gods) The Combine are part of the original Creator Alliance and responsible for seeding galaxies with genetic data. The Orion are the protectors and defenders until the Atlantian vessels can be fielded. Their greatest strength is their technology, but the loss of labs remove bonuses gained from research.
Taalo Horde- Ancient Rock race, from the Star Control games As if the universe itself groaned for a protector, the Taalo have awakened from a million year slumber only to find old allies -the Atlantians and Arilou stripping the galaxy of semi-sentient flo-metal. They are the ultimate enviromental defender with a naive sense of justice. They have incorporated alien technology into their asteroid bodies with great results.
Triad of Creation- Ancient Destroyers of Worlds, Galactic Enslavers The Triad of Creation, the Dnyarri, Antaran and Lapis, seek to eradicate all life in the universe. They nearly destroyed the Atlantian-Orion Combine in the Ori galaxy by turning their creation -the Vasari- against them. They emerged from within the Rogue Cadre taking a sizeable portion of their population into slavery. Their fleets struck the Taalo and Dark Fleet with vessels designed for infiltration nearly crippling the two factions.

7 Deadly Sins, a Danman Games Production/Mod for Sins of a Solar Empire by IronClad/StarDock.
I had been a fan of the Sins 2.1 for a long time, and finally got a better puter and DLed the newer Beta 3 Sins 2.5. WOW! Such an awesome mod. Hats off to the Danman team of coders and playtesters. Not only is it BALANCED much much better than it was before, but damn, the depth and strategy is overwhelming. I love deep engaging building space sims. This is hands down the favorite. So thanks again to all the guys and gals involved in a very snazzy expansion that I just cant ever get enough of.
I do have a question tho. I am running into a peculiar situation never seen before. When I zoom in to see the icons for an in-planet view, they dissappear. This didnt use to be the case. This only started once my Huge Single star game really got into overdrive. I assume my settings and puter couldnt handle it all and now I have invisible icons when viewing a planet, but I'm not sure. I tried dropping my Effects settings from high to medium and that didnt help. Did I reach a critical point whereby puter limitations have been met and nothing I do will fix it? Or is this a bug? Or puter hardware? Any help is appreciated.
Here are my stats:
HP 8710w
1920x1200, running game at 1680x1050
Intel core 2 duo T7500 2.2ghz
Quadro FX1600M DX10.0 512MB dedicated
4GB memory, windows dxdiag only recognizes 3, with 2.10GB free.
7200rpm HD
Running Game Booster 3.
Windows XP 32.
Dizzy, Post to the bug report section. We resized planets which might be why. Check what stuff is checked/unchecked. 'Check' everything except Bloom and Team Color Mesh, then see if the icons do the same thing. I just played though a 7DS modified Systems of War, reloaded it and recorded some video. What difference do you see? Play video in 720HD and full screen to get detailed look.
A fraps of what you're seeing would also help a ton.
7DS Systems of War : Settings and Zooming In/Out
It's easy to explain. Looking at your video, when you zoom in to the planet between 50 and 1:01 secs thru that youtube vid of urs, all my in planet icons disappear. Poofta, they just go away. Only at the edge of the maximum zoom btween where you 1st see the icons appear when the strategic planet becomes a tactical planet are the icons visible. Zooming in past that (which is really too far zoomed out to do anything useful) all the way thru to zooming into the meshed model, the 2d colored icons are not present.
Like I said before, this only happened halfway thru the huge single star game.
Edit, perhaps you could post a link to the bug report section. Dunno if I post here on these boards or at danman forum. Perhaps you could just copy and paste for me?
you got fraps? record and post video to youtube of just what's happening. Best to post on Danman forums, I'm not a guru or anything, I just open files and mash keys until dev.exe stops dumping.
If I wanted just a particular piece like say Uzii's Sins Plus, is there a way to get it, is this an all or nothing sort of thing. I mean i got nothing against 7ds, but I don't want to put all that stuff into my game.
see this is what i kinda hate about super mods, or mod consolidations and other things like that, it takes the "a la cart" nature of mods away. You either have to play with the whole thing or not at all.
Problem with sins is that different mod don't always stack in the good way... so, you need the individual one and some "mod consolidation" who put more thing together...
As for Uzii's sins plus, you can find several other planet mod who have everything from Uzii, sometime more...
In fact, if you don't wish any new races but wish more planet, better explosion, etc... i advice you to use "Distant Star" that you can found at https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/335474
ahh thank you very much, I love sins alot, pretty much vanilla, but i really loved it when i had the Sins Plus Planets, btw, how do you get this to work with Galaxy Forge, I would like to recreate the Lylat system from Star Fox, and Need the Toxic planets, and etc.
Well, i always use random map and i have never used Galaxy Forge...
All i know is that everything who can be used in a map is found in the file GalaxyScenarioDef.galaxyScenarioDef ... so, maybe you need to replace the GalaxyScenarioDef.galaxyScenarioDef found in the Galaxy Forge directory by the one found in the gameinfo directory from the mod...
Talked with Dan.Sending my Beta 4 version to him, he'll get his changes in and Beta 5 out when he's able. Please be understanding if Beta 5 doesn't come out tomorrow or even within a week. He and his wife are a bit busy with their own new release candidate. Dan will provide info about that project and results.
I have been getting consistent minidumps on beta 4, what information can i give to you that would help?
and yes i lowered my graphics to high from highest.
ok i did more research, i found the debug file and checked the log, i dont think you would want me to copy and paste a 2000+ line log... would yall be interested in seein the log file and if so can you reccomend a painless file hosting service?
ok found a easy file hosting site heres the file debug .txt http://www.mediafire.com/?frd2ime63pakg9k
Beta 5 is out for premium members.
Log files from the dev.exe can become huge but once zipped, they become a lot smaller...
As for hosting log files, simply go to http://forums.danmangames.com/ and register... the danmangames forum allow "attachments" to post, max 10 files by post, max 10 mb by post...
In fact, if you request the status of "playtester", once granted, a new section of the forum will be revealed to you... there, you can find a bug report topic... and in some case, early patch are posted in it, long before the next Beta is released...
By example, it is very possible that you constant minidump with Beta4 was due to the problem with one of the planet type... was solved long ago by a mini patch... as Beta 5 is out, it is very possible that all already solved problem with Beta 4 will be included with Beta 5...
Beta 5 Bug Report Thread
If you want it addressed, post to our site. If you want it ignored and buried, post here.
Greetings All!
Wow, a lot has changed since I have been around! The site here got revamped, Ironclad/Stardock is getting ready for Rebellion, which borrows a lot of ideas from us modders, and my family has expanded by one. Yes, one of the reasons I have been gone was the creation of my latest son, Joshua. We are now a family of six. Myself, my wife, and our 4 boys. I have also been working 14+ hour days with my job, so modding from me personally has been slim. Thank God for the team, as many members, SemazRalan, Thoumsin, Makon, Scratch, and many others have been carrying more than their share of the modding weight to keep us moving forward, so my hat goes off to them!
As Semaz said, Beta 5 is out for premium users, and the regular area will be updated this week. Also, Beta 6 is already underway as we move to a release version of 2.5
Now, to address the question about "all or nothing". 7DS 3.0 will be modular. You will be able to pick and choose what you want, being planets, music, races, etc. This is a huge undertaking, but already in the making with version 2.5. 7DS 3.0 will allow more, as the Star Trek and Star Gate universes will then be able to join the 7DS family. 7DS 3.0 will also get in with Diplomacy....But...all in due time.
Thank you to ALL for all your kind words and comments. It is what keeps us going, to provide a quality "product" that all of you can enjoy.
I will also be updating the main post, so get ready for changes. More to come!
Yes, its not like they've said they've had plans to have titans and the like since before the game was launched or anything. And super units and subfactions have never been in other RTS games before.
Further, I advise that the Devs add custom map sharing to Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion.
Well, to be honest, the big ship and subfactions are details ( can somehow be made by modders )... the important changes with rebellion are not these... By example, shader 3.0 is more interesting, or better AI... both thing that modders cannot change...
Plans who was cancelled with Diplomacy being the last expension due to engine limitation... limitation who have dissappear in a Diplomacy patch who have include Ironclad/Stardock optimization and some TSOP optimization... and these new optimization have allow Rebellion...
Seem that casual player input have some importance too since the sins devs try to make some wish becoming true ( maybe your custom map sharing ??? )
This is the basic formula for replying to Modders that do something StarClad didn't.==================SOASE has been planning: 'Insert Your Feature Here' since 'Insert Early Pre-Beta Version that it was supposed to be in,' but didn't get in because,'Insert lame excuse and be a fanthing of StarClad' so your ideas aren't special.==================
About covers it? btw... SOASE has been planning custom map sharing since SOASE was first started under the secret name "Naughty Nations" in 1987 before Ironclad even existed in fact, so your ideas aren't special.
I'm not claiming my ideas are special, that's the difference. In fact its ridiculous that custom map sharing isn't already a feature because its so common place in other games, and the game already contains the mechanisms to do it.
By all means, modders should do things that Ironclad haven't done, or make those things better. But to claim that we have had an influence on what they are doing now just because some mod they probably didn't even play did it first seems a bit to prideful to me.
Sometimes they do yes, such as increasing hardcoded limits or allowing frigates to use fighter movement. Hopefully they'll continue to listen in the future.
Well, pride is the only reward for a modder... and Stardock/Ironclad in their "change log" make reference to people who have influence their own work :
"Adjusted max dot for graphics to 0.95 from 1. This should largely eliminate the strange white lines that would appear for some players on the edges of ships/structures. Special thanks to Aractain and Kitkun for this info!"
"Various fixes for old crash bugs (thanks to the community on these)."
"Various fixes to mesh files (thanks to the community on these)."
It is why i like sins... sins devs and community have a real symbiotic relationship... of course, sins devs cannot please everybody but i am pretty sure that they try...
And this is indeed the case.
Sure, they DO get ideas from us, which is why they continue to support modding. I have spoken with Blair several times, and he HAS played Sins with the 7DS mod, so I know he knows what we do. He particularly likes the idea of turning the Kosukura Cannon into a ship (The Avatar)
So, do the DEV's know what we are up to? SURE THEY DO...They watch these threads all the time, and know that we do bear some weight in wht is going on. Prideful??? Maybe... I just know what is going on.
The DEV's are great with giving us support. We in turn provide mods which help sell their product. I cannot count how many fans have told me they went out and bought Sins JUST to play 7DS. That brings a smile to my face, and money in Ironclad's pocket. It is a good symbiotic relationship.
So, do we mind they take ideas from us? No, it brings a smile to my face at least, especially if they drop our names here and there
dan, fix main post for Beta 6 and put youtube intro movie in it.
GoaFan, also think of the sheer volume of abilities and buffs, planets, particles, weapon effects, etc... the community at large has made that StarClad can use. Any modder/modteam would do the hoopa-hoopa dance in their undies seeing their work used. Even that multiple mods have up to 12 races in them and running Entrenchment/Diplomacy with few problems shows StarClad that they've got a game with longevity to it even if there is no campaign -which I want ferociously because it'd be the ultimate icing on the cake for SOASE.
They listen... from yesterday reply 35 from Yarlen at https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/412213/page/2/ :
"We're working on it. Goafan's pleas have been noticed."
Well, it seem that YOU can be prideful for having influence the sins devs on what they are doing now
Maybe a good time to say "thank you" to the soase devs for listen to us !!!
EVE fans have a love-hate relationship with NOSFERATU...
Maybe for 2.5, maybe not. Ability atm, attached to TOU ship, but they won't get this nasty bugger.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA654LWK7AA
best @ 720. Nosferatu Ability is the red beam zapping the Atlantian battleship
