Welcome to the 7 DEADLY SINS mod, as featured in PC GAMER by DANMAN .
Welcome to 7 Deadly Sins 2.5 FINAL for the latest version of Sins Entrenchment 1.053.7DS can only be played at HIGH maximum settings. DO NOT USE VERY HIGH settings. This will cause a minidump. Also, there is an issue with Win7 64 bit. You will get crashes, load errors, or the game will not even play, with or without warning. Just keep reloading the game and trying until you actually get into the game and play. This is a Windows problem, not a problem with Sins or 7DS.
7 Deadly Sins is:
The ultimate combo mod, the "unoffical" expansion of Sins of a Solar Empire, or so it has been dubbed by the mod community. The work of many individual modders working together under my leadership (DANMAN3712).Nearly 4 years old and downloaded in various forms over 100k times worldwide and in 5 languages.
Together, we form the 7DS Mod Team and the backbone of DANMAN GAMES www.danmangames.com

Mobile Starbases -all races possess starbases that can move about the gravity well to interdict enemy forces -assault carefully.
12 Playable Races with their own traits that make them more unique, from being a total offensive race, to a highly researching race. Each race now has its own unique tactics of gameplay.
Trader Emergency Coalition- solely based on trade and swarming, with little military might Corpo-Nations that have rebelled against the Trade Order. Their military might stripped, they have turned to allying themselves with various factions and hiring mercs for protection. TEC has new Battlecruisers, mercenary contracts, and EMP shells that bypass shields to a small degree.Trade Coalition Armada- the military arm of the Trade Order Once the development arm of the Trade Order, they are now the last hope for the Trade Order and humanity. Their ships are bricks with extreme range railguns.
TCA has state of the art weapons on traditional capitalships plus the Dresden and Athena Dreadnought and Beta Kol Titan. The Orion Unity- modified Orion and Advent Combine Some Orion split with the Atlantian-Orion Combine to guide the Advent towards their ultimate evolutionary stage. TOU ships are stronger, faster and deadlier; They can even travel between worlds using the Phase Stabilizer technology of the Tempest Titan. Ship research boosts weapon performance.
DARK FLEET- modified Vasari The Dark Fleet is all that remains of the Vasari. Where the weak Exodus ran often and fought rarely, the Dark Fleet seeks total dominion through force of arms. Their 5 Titan ships roam looking for prey. Play style is familiar with greater armor, firepower and destructive potential.
Imperial Armada- from Star Wars Guided by a clone of General Thrawn, the wasteland armadas of the Imperial Armada can employ powerful Force Alchemical Technology and even unleash the power of the Executor Super Star Destroyer. Can unlock Jedi and/or Sith Holocrons for performance boost to defenses or offenses respectively -and at the expense of the other.
Rogue Cadre- Playable, custom pirates Rob, pilfer, and steal your way to greatness. The Rogue Cadre is a melting pot of human cultures, Advent refugees and what remains of the Vasari. They have gathered against the TCA, TOU, Atlantian-Orion Combine and TOC to free humanity from tyranny, mysticism and slavery. Posess the Precursor Titan and The Machine -the latter capable of capturing capitalships
Arilou Vanguard- UFO race from the Star Control Games Not being of this dimension, the Arilou do not rely on money and normal means of transport or construction. They simply spawn ships from their "motherships", and travel through Quasispace, which propels them at near instant speeds from planet to planet.
Ur-quan KohrAh Third Doctrinal Fleet- Death race from the Star Control games Totally aggressive, the Korh-Ah are built for battle. They are all offense, and barely any defense. They focus on exterminating every race and every planet they find, and almost every ship is capable of boming from orbit. Their goal is to "cleanse" the universe of all other sentient life, anything that is not an Ur-Quan.
Ur-Quan KzerZa Third Doctrinal Fleet- Slaving race from the Star Control games Unlike their Kor-Ah cousins, the Kzer-Za believe in a diplomatic approach, let alone old habits of enslaving entire races into their Hierarchy. They have grown from their 10,000 year old ways, and are more good than bad now.
Atlantian-Orion Combine- the ultimate race, the seeders of life (the gods) The Combine are part of the original Creator Alliance and responsible for seeding galaxies with genetic data. The Orion are the protectors and defenders until the Atlantian vessels can be fielded. Their greatest strength is their technology, but the loss of labs remove bonuses gained from research.
Taalo Horde- Ancient Rock race, from the Star Control games As if the universe itself groaned for a protector, the Taalo have awakened from a million year slumber only to find old allies -the Atlantians and Arilou stripping the galaxy of semi-sentient flo-metal. They are the ultimate enviromental defender with a naive sense of justice. They have incorporated alien technology into their asteroid bodies with great results.
Triad of Creation- Ancient Destroyers of Worlds, Galactic Enslavers The Triad of Creation, the Dnyarri, Antaran and Lapis, seek to eradicate all life in the universe. They nearly destroyed the Atlantian-Orion Combine in the Ori galaxy by turning their creation -the Vasari- against them. They emerged from within the Rogue Cadre taking a sizeable portion of their population into slavery. Their fleets struck the Taalo and Dark Fleet with vessels designed for infiltration nearly crippling the two factions.

7 Deadly Sins, a Danman Games Production/Mod for Sins of a Solar Empire by IronClad/StarDock.
Live Sync?
Yes, Microsoft's Live Sync. Basically it is a live per to per system, like torrents, but it is live. If you are synced to me, then the moment I make changes to the mod, you will also have those changes. This way, errors can be pointed out, then then when I fix them, you will see them instantly, rather than waiting for me to release the next update / patch.
Cool huh?
uh i guess were do i get/sign up?
i have returned from the grave. how is this mod progressing? i really CBA to trawl through the last 25+ pages of stuff
and how is the 7DS community at large? been keeping well?
Haha, we're pretty much in a coma. Forum got taken back by a few months when we switched servers, so the new mod teams have no posts in the forums. As far as I can tell, the Empire is the only thing that's being developed out of all the mod teams that aren't manned by Danman, and for now the Empire team is just me and Thoumsin.
Actually the Halo mod and B5 mods are going strong, just in their own threads right now. And don't forget the server switch and forums going down was unexpected too, so all in all its not that bad.
If we can just get the database, all will be restored. But Maxsim is still not responding to us.
The 7DS Alpha itself is going niceley, and several people have the new one via the Sync program. So, while we have the forums looming overhead, things are not that bad, and progress is still continuing.
BTW - Welcome back!!!
One question, if anyone happens to know-
Can I choose which individual piece to play with? For instance, could I pretty much play as if the only mod I have is Sins Plus? That's actually the main reason I'm getting 7DS, because that mod doesn't seem to work. I think it's just outdated.
In the event that we do not get the database back from Maxsim, I have decided to keep the old backup as a live archive on the new forums, that way we will always have that data. It represents 1000's of hours of work, especially all the tutorials we have. I am also looking into setting the wiki back up too. Just trying to figure it all out.
Glad to know the surprise didn't destroy to much. I'm not a tester so don't have the sync, but I'm watching with great anticipation. Got the email about the design thoughts. Am understanding correctly that 7DS will be in interlocing pieces and we will simply "stack" the pieces in the "Mod window" and go?
That sounds kool, we will get to use as many or as little as we choose, right.
The 7DS forum was and will host several individual mod... these individual mod have full freedom in their work, so Dan don't control what they make... the 7DS forum is more about these different mod sharing experience, helping each other, etc...
The 7DS mod is more a showroom of the best of the best... due to hardcode limit in sins, it is not possible to have everything... so, previously, Dan have decide to include 13 ship of the best ship for each races, keeping orbital structure like in the original sins...
Never forget that 7DS was build on the top of Solar Sins... Solor Sins is the natural evolution of the Sins Plus who was given to Dan by Uzi long time ago... Don't know the future project of Dan, but it will be great to have a final individual Solar Sins version ( maybe after Diplomacy release ) who can be a strong base for the planned 7DS 3.0 ...
For you question, using the last 7DS alpha allow you to play with Solar sins 2.0 since these is integrated in it... nothing obligate you to play the several new races... you will not fund the original races in it but you will have the TCA, the Unity, and the Dark who are the TEC, the Advent and the Vasari on steroid... was needed to make them stronger for being able to fight against all the new races...
For a updated version of 7DS working with the last Entrenchment upgrade, just wait a little until the forum is back online... soon, the last alpha will be released for testing... and we will begin the beta fase... our last alpha was already enough stable but we have remain in alpha stage because new material have be added at each alpha stage...
Thank you. I'm disapointed that the original races aren't available- I see no reason why I couldn't have them too, if only for the sake of variety.
Regardless, this looks awesome. I can hardly wait for this to finish downloading! I think I will download the other pieces too, and only play with little bits at a time.
The real reason is the hardcoded mesh limit in sins... engine can use more mesh on more powerfull computer but we cannot change hardcode... there is several topic on these forum where modders ask for a more high mesh limit, hope that Stardock/Ironclad will make our wish becoming true...
Texture limit can be a problem too but for this, several modders have found various work around...
By the way, for the same reason of mesh limit, all the starbase are now single mesh in 7DS... no more visual upgrade...
When mod like the B5 mod will be included in 7DS, you can forget about the rotating part too... these again use individual mesh for the fixed and rotating part...
Maybe when stardock will release the final diplomacy expension, we will read "raise the max mesh count from 1000 to 2000"... original sins with Entrenchment is using already around 800 mesh on the 1000 possible... remain around 200 for modding... it is really very little to make something... you like new planet... each planet is a new mesh since texture are locked in the .mesh file... if the .mesh was only used for model and something like a .mtl was used for texture, having the reference to both file in the entity file, it will free a bunch of mesh.... it will allow to use the same mesh with different texture...
And there is several more valid reason... it is not our choice... we make what we can with what we have... if you wish support us, simply seek one of the numerous topic related to hardcode and make a little post there... it is the only way to put some phressure on the shoulder of the sins devs... more people are asking for feature, more chance you have to see it in a next patch or expension... and same if they don't make it for sins, it become very possible that they will thing about it for the possible SINS II...
I see. I saw something about that mesh limit, but I didn't understand what it was. I've got a vague grasp on the concept of "mesh" but I get the idea. Thanks for clearing that up. I will consider helping out, if theres something I can do without the foggiest on how programing works.
If you don't mind, tell me what I'm doing wrong, or anything else I can try- I extracted 7DS to the mods folder, enable it, and nothing changes. It's as if I'm just playing Entrenchment without the mod. I extracted it to the Entrenchment 1.041, and same thing. If I press the "apply changes" button, I get a minidump. I set all the graphics settings to "high", like I believe I'm supposed to. I keep seeing similar problems other people have had, but nothing seems to work for me.
What version of 7DS have you ?
The last public one was 7DS 2.1 who was for sins 1.05 ... the last version for playtester was the 7DS 2.5 Alpha F was was for Entrenchment 1.04 or 1.041 ( not sure about it )... the last alpha of 7DS 2.5 is almost done, it will be the Alpha G... next stept is the beta... hope that Dan will open the beta to everybody... since Beta is more about correct a bunch of very little problem...
For the last alpha, the link have dissappear with the forum... link found on Danmangame or here are for the old last final release of 2.1 ... link to alpha 2.5 are old version, filled with huge bug and very instable...
Best is to wait a little until the forum is back and wait until Dan release the next alpha soon...
We are sorry for the problem but we hope that everything will become normal again soon...
Take a look here: www.danmangames.com/mods-sins.php
That's what I downloaded- Alpha 7DS 2.5, to be used with Entrenchment 1.041. Or better yet, Diplomacy .90.
I just discovered something- now a vague "7 Deadly sins" is imprinted on the loading screens, and the music is different. I like the new menu theme, by the way.
However, that's all that's different. There's still only the three original civilizations, and still the same old planets. I've tried generating random maps and using the custom map thing, and I still don't see any new planets. I don't know how long it's been like that.
It is the 2.5 alpha A, from a very long time ago... it is not compatible with 1.041 since 1.041 was not yet released when these version was done...
I have the link for the 2.5 Alpha F and the 2.5 Alpha G... i am not sure if the G was already released or if it was a test version... and i will not post any link unless Danman allow it... normally, the Alpha was only for people who register on our now dead forum for being playtester...
Will contact Dan via e-mail... asking him to remove these old link to the 2.5 Alpha A and if he agree, put a link to the 2.5 alpha H or G...
UNTIL ME OR DAN POST SOME LINK HERE OR ON OUR FORUM WHEN IT WILL BE BACK, DON'T DOWNLOAD ANYTHING... ONLY THE 7DS 2.1 FOR SINS 1.05 IS A VALID DOWNLOAD... 2.5 alpha A cannot work with a actual version of Entrenchment !!!
Alpha G was for testing I believe... at least that's what I remember the last time I looked on the forum
If a download link was put on the forum for the alpha G, it was a release...
About the forum... since Danman have give me full administrator right, i will work on it all these week-end... all the post from the partial backup is already moved to a archive section... i am busy to build a new structure for the forum... original structure was only related to 7DS and sins of solar empire... but since, the 7DS forum have become the host of numerous mod, and some of these mod are for other games...
The forum is become a platform of several mod exchange asset, service, help each other, etc... You have the mod leader from the tri-pirate mod who have help the B5 mod for some special abilities, you have a modeler of the B5 mod who have create a new ship for the BSG mod, etc...
The new structure will reflect how was the 7DS forum before his shutdow... more a platform for numerous modders where the 7DS mod is only a mod between several other...
For people who was members of the 7DS forum, a little patience... some of you will need to register again since all data are 6 month old... the archive have all the post from these 6 month old backup... some of these post can be moved again in the new structure at the request of each individual mod leader...
For now, the new forum is in a read only mode... this will be for one or two days... giving me the time to setup everything...
I am not the new webmaster... but we cannot wait anymore, so i have accept these role for these week-end with the goal to have a functional forum for next week...
The new forum can be reach at http://www.forums.danmangames.com/ or http://danmangames.com/forums/index.php
Dan... Bug Reports for 2.5 Alpha H.
3 Mini-dumps - 1 Atlantian, 2 Empire. I will email the files directly to you. However there are quite a few minor bugs in the tech trees with technologies being unavailable even when prereqs have been met. I am in the process of compiling a list. The Empire only has one in the tech tree... it is the last missile tech, I have both levels of the prereq and still showing as unavailable. I saw an empire cap ship that was invisible as well, however was not able to get a screen shot before a minidump occured.
I also have some errors that popped up when I turned error logging on. Here they are:

We are up to alpha H, Thoumsin
Where is the link to try this mod out? When i go to danmangames.com link it says forbidden. When i go to the forums, there is no link in the mod section. Would really like to try this mod out.
I guess I should report the bugs I found too? I've got the Alpha G, just so you know.
I've had 3 crashes myself, in the 3 times I've played Alpha G. Once an hour or so into the game as the Dark fleet, once while loading as the TCA, and the last one crashed 25 into the game as the Arliou. None of them mini dumps, though I got one the first time I tried to activate the mod. They're all just generic Vista "____has stopped working and needs to close" messages. I am liking the mod all in all, though I'm hoping for one without the crashes soon, though.
Zanithor, I'm not related to the Deadly Sins team so I don't speak on their behalf, but I believe you'll find the link shortly once they get the forums up and running. Just sit tight and play the real Sins until they're done. That's what I'll be doing, actually.
Alpha H is for now the private test version of Danman... i don't have it, it was never release in the playtester section or in the public release section...
And since yesterday, all the download on the server are deleted... was informed a few hours prior it by a other new Web Admin
Thoumsin,
My apologies I was unaware it was private as Dan requested playtesters in the previous page.
For those of you looking to playtest the newer versions,
This quote is from Dan on the previous page:
"If you want to be a playtester, email me at danman3712@gmail.com. We will be implementing the LIVE SYNC to distribute the Alpha for testing, in this case when I make a change, you will all get the changes when you connect to the internet.
DANMAN"
So far the new build seems to be working okay, with only a few system issues and a moderate amount of small glitches, spelling and gramar errors. The best part is that all changes are being made dynamically through Windows Live Sync, so updates will be brought onto your system automatically whenever you are online and connected to the folder . No more waiting for a new release to get the new stuff. Its an outstanding idea. If you are interested make sure you e-mail Dan to get access to the shared folder with all the files. Overall it is a large download, although you get files individually similiar to P2P or torrenting the folder, so it does go somewhat quickly. The more people we have testing, the more info Dan and the team get to provide the best mod available for all of us.
To Dan and the team,
Thanks!!!! I appreciate all of your hard work and the great mod you have put together. I find it much more enjoyable than the basic game.
There are many great features available to you once you register, including:
