Trader Emergency Coalition- solely based on trade and swarming, with little military might Corpo-Nations that have rebelled against the Trade Order. Their military might stripped, they have turned to allying themselves with various factions and hiring mercs for protection. TEC has new Battlecruisers, mercenary contracts, and EMP shells that bypass shields to a small degree.Trade Coalition Armada- the military arm of the Trade Order Once the development arm of the Trade Order, they are now the last hope for the Trade Order and humanity. Their ships are bricks with extreme range railguns.
TCA has state of the art weapons on traditional capitalships plus the Dresden and Athena Dreadnought and Beta Kol Titan.The Orion Unity- modified Orion and Advent Combine Some Orion split with the Atlantian-Orion Combine to guide the Advent towards their ultimate evolutionary stage. TOU ships are stronger, faster and deadlier; They can even travel between worlds using the Phase Stabilizer technology of the Tempest Titan. Ship research boosts weapon performance.
DARK FLEET- modified Vasari The Dark Fleet is all that remains of the Vasari. Where the weak Exodus ran often and fought rarely, the Dark Fleet seeks total dominion through force of arms. Their 5 Titan ships roam looking for prey. Play style is familiar with greater armor, firepower and destructive potential.
Imperial Armada- from Star Wars Guided by a clone of General Thrawn, the wasteland armadas of the Imperial Armada can employ powerful Force Alchemical Technology and even unleash the power of the Executor Super Star Destroyer. Can unlock Jedi and/or Sith Holocrons for performance boost to defenses or offenses respectively -and at the expense of the other.
Rogue Cadre- Playable, custom pirates Rob, pilfer, and steal your way to greatness. The Rogue Cadre is a melting pot of human cultures, Advent refugees and what remains of the Vasari. They have gathered against the TCA, TOU, Atlantian-Orion Combine and TOC to free humanity from tyranny, mysticism and slavery. Posess the Precursor Titan and The Machine -the latter capable of capturing capitalships
Arilou Vanguard- UFO race from the Star Control Games Not being of this dimension, the Arilou do not rely on money and normal means of transport or construction. They simply spawn ships from their "motherships", and travel through Quasispace, which propels them at near instant speeds from planet to planet.
Ur-quan KohrAh Third Doctrinal Fleet- Death race from the Star Control games Totally aggressive, the Korh-Ah are built for battle. They are all offense, and barely any defense. They focus on exterminating every race and every planet they find, and almost every ship is capable of boming from orbit. Their goal is to "cleanse" the universe of all other sentient life, anything that is not an Ur-Quan.
Ur-Quan KzerZa Third Doctrinal Fleet- Slaving race from the Star Control games Unlike their Kor-Ah cousins, the Kzer-Za believe in a diplomatic approach, let alone old habits of enslaving entire races into their Hierarchy. They have grown from their 10,000 year old ways, and are more good than bad now.
Atlantian-Orion Combine- the ultimate race, the seeders of life (the gods) The Combine are part of the original Creator Alliance and responsible for seeding galaxies with genetic data. The Orion are the protectors and defenders until the Atlantian vessels can be fielded. Their greatest strength is their technology, but the loss of labs remove bonuses gained from research.
Taalo Horde- Ancient Rock race, from the Star Control games As if the universe itself groaned for a protector, the Taalo have awakened from a million year slumber only to find old allies -the Atlantians and Arilou stripping the galaxy of semi-sentient flo-metal. They are the ultimate enviromental defender with a naive sense of justice. They have incorporated alien technology into their asteroid bodies with great results.
Triad of Creation- Ancient Destroyers of Worlds, Galactic Enslavers The Triad of Creation, the Dnyarri, Antaran and Lapis, seek to eradicate all life in the universe. They nearly destroyed the Atlantian-Orion Combine in the Ori galaxy by turning their creation -the Vasari- against them. They emerged from within the Rogue Cadre taking a sizeable portion of their population into slavery. Their fleets struck the Taalo and Dark Fleet with vessels designed for infiltration nearly crippling the two factions.

I dunno if its been talked about, but how is the Star Wars races coming along? Aside from the Atlantians they are my fav to play! Evillejedi's work is really nice so far, an I was under the impression 7 ds had some of his work in it. And if it is that would be just sweet!! I can't wait for the next Alpha regardless. Look forward to testing

Felkins, in case you don't know me, I'm the guy in charge of the Empire at 7DS (as well as future SW races if we decide to add them). To answer your question, yes, we do have a lot of Eville's stuff in the mod. Not codes, seeing as his mod is a different style than ours, but most of our models are from his mod. We have a long-standing open agreement, so 7DS can use anything in his mod. Personally, I'm reciprocating that, so if he wants anything from the Empire he can feel free to use it.
As for progress, I think the majority of the Empire is debugged, with a few exceptions (ion defense comes to mind). Development wise, I'm waiting on a few models before I can release anything new. I'm just going to say that there are going to be a few surprises in store.
Quick Question, I'm downloading the 2,5 alpha right now, and what sort of download speed should I be getting?

By the way, what version are alpha 2.5 are you downloading now... my advice is to wait a few days... Dan have promise the next alpha ( version H ) before the end of these year...
If you are downloading the alpha 2.5 A founs on the Danmangames site, better stop now... it is the very first alpha, filled with bug and not working with the actual sins version...
Alpha version was only for playtester, so there are no public link for download... maybe Dan will make these 2.5 alpha H public... normally, it is the last alpha... next step will be the beta...

Hey everyone. First off let me say I am salivating to try the mod... unfortunately, even though I have a purchased retail copy of the vanilla game, I have version 1.165 and this mod does not support it. I really do not want to purchase the expansion for the game until I get my primary laptop back from HP and would love to play this mod. Any ideas? I have not updated the game, I have been trying to avoid doing so until I had a few games under my belt so I could try to see what the difference was.
What program are you trying to use to open the file? I would recommend either 7ZIP or TugZIP. Both should be freeware I believe.
Yeah, I thought it was something like that, that is great to hear though. I have been a silent member for awhile watching progress, so som of this is unclear to me.I personnaly like the scaling of the ships planets, etc. Although I don't know if you would want to implement that in 7DS. looks as if you are missing the PipelineEffect folder. Look in the mods subfolders for a folder labeled "PipelineEffect"
If it is not there then that is your issue. Use 7zip to unzip the mod again and see if that corrects your issue.

No you won't, as soon as the backup database is inserted into the new forum, everything will be as it was a few days ago before the site went down, just a few days behind with maybe a day or two missing. Ok File, that looks awesome, but I have ONE problem with it. The moving part. As you are well aware, sins doesn't support moving parts, however you can get around that by using particle effects to achieve the same goal. I don't know if you can particle forge, and if you can't let me know so I can give Dodonado a heads up that I might need him.
Scratch, i have never use particule forge but i know how to ready the model for it... will have 4 mesh and one texture set... during the modeling, i have take care that the origine coordonate of all rotating piece are 0,0,0 ... so, it will be easy for you to hardpoint the main mesh for the 3 rotating particule effect...
And if needed, i can always ask help from the B5 mod... they are with us on the 7DS forum and they have plenty of experience with rotating pieces...
In short, don't worry...
By the way, it will be possible to make a .mesh version without any rotating piece ( maybe like a patch ) for people with very very low end computer...
If the model take so much time, it is simply because it have a lot of piece who can move... the model have a skeleton and piece are parented to it... this cannot be used in sins but i plan to release the model later in some place like renderosity, for people using it for high quality render or animation...
By example, i have just finish the big weapons door arm... in sins, it will always be in open position... but in the full model, it can open of close the door... so, at the modeling level, it have take time for make a arm who allow the door to fit perfectly the hull in closed position... normallt, the big ring make yesterday was made in a way to rotate too...
In fact, i make these model for me... that it will be compatible with sins is a bonus... in fact, it can be used by other game who allow moving part, moving turret, etc... and maybe a future sins II will be able to use it fully...

NOOO. I CAN'T GET IT TO WORK! GAHH I downloaded it from every available site, and there's still an issue, PLEASE look at the first lines of the log and tell me what I should do! The Files seem to be FINE, as far as I'm concerned the files from Danman AND Filesfront Cannot be both corrupt. IF IT WORKED FOR THE OTHERS Why won't it work with me??

You cannot... original races was removed because the mod was hitting numerous hardcoded limit from the game... but in some way, you can find them back with "The Dark", "The TCA" and "The Unity" races who are like the original races on steroid... in fact, fully original race will not last 5 minutes in the 7DS universe...
For the future 3.0, more change is planned due to these hardcoded limit ( specialy the mesh count limit )... from what Danman have explain, each race will only have something like 13 ship models and orbital structure will be common for almost all the races...
In fact, the goal of the 7DS mod is too show the best work from the numerous other mod who are part of the team... and several of these other mod have they own release who is more complete... by example the BSG mod, the B5 mod, the tri-pirate mod, etc ... 7DS mod will become a showrow where the best of these mod will be allowed to fight against each other...
It is more a "this can be used with other thing that only sins"... remember that sins is the first and only game that i have made model for... but before sins, i was a high quality, huge poly count modeler... in fact, some old game are able to use moving turret... and since i model in a modular way, all my model can have turret who rotate and barrel with changing elevation... who know what will be the possibility for the next game that you will mod once you have finish these mod for sins... and being a lazy guy, i don't wish to remake the model from the begin for any other game
In fact, if you remember what i have wrote a long time ago, the under the front part of each door, you will have two big cannon... when i have discuss about it, i have say that it can be like the death star ray... but in these case, the ray don't focus together for give a super ray...
By the way, these big gun will be a ability... in front of the forwad sphere, it will be a other huge cannon, again a ability... simply a huge ion cannon, style of these used for planetory defense... usual weapons point will be used for a bunch of laser turret and missiles... it will remain 3 other ability that you need to choose...
Since it is a starbase, if you wish, i can make various mesh of it without difficulty... by example, if you wish that the 8 big cannon become active only with research or starbase upgrade, i can make a mesh where door are in closed position and a mesh with door open like in the previous screen... second mesh being used only after upgrade or research... this is possible since the original sins starbase work in these way... it will not be a animation but starbase can use several mesh...
First, finish to model the starbase and after we will discuss of the numerous possibilities that sins allow with multi mesh... by example, the ring with 4 hangar can maybe appear only when starbase is upgraded with hangar !!!
