from what I remember from the mod tutorial threads the name is xsi mod tool which is the free xsi editing/creation tool and not the expensive one

i would wait canada the more we put in the video the more we can shut up those guys who keep demanding progress reports from us.
I'm waiting patiently in the background, and I have to say it annoys ME when people ask for updates or a release date, so I can only imagine how you guys feel. But saying that, releasing a video everyday won't shut them up - they'd ask for two plus the release data . So just release stuff when you want to. I know I'll be happy if there's a new video tomorrow or next year.
The due date for that trade ship will be postponed to an undetermined period, I'm afraid. I am having the highest difficulty with the SOFTIMAGE XSI Mod Tool, starting with opening the damned thing. Also the greatest enemy of the modder has caught up with me: life, specifically balancing work, writing, and researching colleges.
But if I manage to figure it out, I will throw in all the non-combat utility ships.

Also for some reason, random people keep trying to join the team, saying things like "I could be the idea guy". We certainly dont have enough of those lol

Three month ago, i was knowing nothing about modding, about sins, etc...
I was lucky to find people who was not anoys by my numerous questions... final result is that now, i made works for several mods...
Because of the poor documentation when related to sins, new people have no idea how sins work... using a little time for teach them can be rewarded in the long term...
I usually patiently answer questions from numerous people, whoever they have to be specific and not things like "how do you make a mod?" for page upon page. If they have an actual valid question then of course I'll answer them. However, most of the comments are from people are turning to me for advice first and not seeking out the communities or a tutorials help.
It just gets annoying having to herd them to the forums

well what i meant was gameplay and non modders, take a look at the thread on mod db and all the ways people try to give ideas or tell you how to make an ability when they have never looked at the txt for sins. i dont mind helping new modders thats fun. but when people with no intention of modding and making mods ask questions or try to tell you how to make something
i will happily answer a question if its someone who wants to learn or is curious about how something works but when they have no intention of using that knowledge to do something or are trying to tell me to try something through a question that i already have or trying to tell me something is possible when they havent tried it
I agree with you but in the case of these forum, thing are a little different... for seeking information here, you need first a "search" function who work in a normal way... posting rate here is high, and good informative post are very fast lost between thousand and thousand of other post...

By example, the covenant carrier ship is my first textured ship in a sins game... you can ask Canadaman about the strange effect that i have render during my several test and trial... one of it allow me to texture model without using a nm texture... but having the same result that with a nm map... can seem a non important detail but can become interesting when related to memory optimization... for the vanilla game, when these method is apply on all texture/mesh, around 350 mb of ram is spared... mean that it allow more low end computer to use sins, without loose of quality...
The problem is not really when someone propose a idea but more when someone try to impose his own idea...

Remember our discussion on the other forum about the halo ring... i am fileOSoft there... these discussion was not a loosing time... soon of later, i will begin code myself and try to solve the problem ( odd are against me but i wish to try )... one thing that i am sure, it is impossible by using entity file in a normal way... so, i need to find a non normal way who don't crash the game...

Are any of those ships Halo ships? They aren't? Then I guess they can't be in a Halo mod.

No. Too bumpy. Covenant ships are much more smooth and graceful almost like Mon Calamari ones.
