Why not to put the action of the mod AFTER Halo 3?
props:
- Covenant split into many factions (so UNSC would have to fight only with Brutes, while Elites would be allies or neutral)
- UNSC could put new technologies, weapons and ships into combat
- Covenant Races in that period would be overall less ahead of UNSC coz they would have to wage civil war, the would not have phrophets who unified them by fanatic religion, while UNSC would have time to rebuild, expand and prepare to fight Hostile Covenant and obtain technology from Elites (like experimental shields, that would be a short-time ships ability, while covenant shields are standard gear) - I remember that Elites considered Humans an only "worthy/honored race" apart from Prophets...so after H3 Humans are the only race that could astablish normal diplomatic realation with Elites, while rest of Covenant races are considered hostile (Brutes), or inferior (grunts) by Elites.

This mod isn't doing fanon, and while your ideas are good they have no place here. Feel free to make a fanon Halo mod, but this mod is striving to stay as close to canon as possible. Most of us want to play Halo, not what other people think would make Halo cool. So suffice it to say, the majority rules here (Considering Canada agrees lol) and we'll be doing canon.
And for the record, I REALLY don't wanna see discussion on this matter. It's been made quite clear by the devs of the mod that this mod will follow canon, so it'd be quite annoying to see dozens of posts like "Oh yeah I agree! We should do that!". It's a good idea as I said, but it doesn't belong here, so please people, don't debate it.
Please dont bring up the shield argument again.
I think we should stick on the normal course we were taking. Dont bring up shield arguements. After demo when you get the response from the people. Then you can fix it. If its to hard to fight with no shields then maybe lower the power of them. (not promoting any Shield arguement that was like 10 pages long lol)

I suspect that people will have a 50/50 chance of either loving the UNSC or hating them. Love them because they're so easily spammable, and you can just zerg rush, and you know how to use their abilities well. And hate them because you suck at spamming and can't figure out how to use the abilities effectivly.
I seriously doubt the UNSC will be "broken", just I forsee a LOT of bitching because most players will get steamrolled by the covies, since they lack tactics and the knowledge of when and how to use the UNSC's abilities.

I think if u use the UNSC ships as an attack and run tactic it wud b gr8.. coz of their heavy damage weapons.. but for ppl who push in a fleet and keep sendin reinforcements to bck them up they will b slaughtered....

The topic of a new thread devoted to the mod has been discussed, and deemed (unofficially) unneeded. Whether this topic is owned by the dev team or not, they'll still work on the mod and still post updates. So ultimately, it's irrelevent.

What about the flood.
Maybe a ship that goes around not actively attacking but using the Culture system to show the flood spreading, and once a planet falls to the flood, it makes another ship and transmits flood 'Culture' a lot quicker.
