Once installed you can create custom maps on Galaxy Forge using Uzii's and Danman's planets and stars with the need to override just one file. You can download either Uzii's Sins Plus v1.3, Danman's 7 Deadly Sins v1.3, or Danman's Solar Sins v2.0.Download linksSins Plus v1.3 on Galaxy Forge7 Deadly Sins v1.3 on Galaxy ForgeSolar Sins v2.0 on Galaxy ForgeThanks to Uzii, Danman, and all the other modders for all your hard work.
damn forum.... didn't update -sorry for 2x post
very nice. I wonder if star/clad will remove all the annoying double " marks and tabs at the end of lines (cause I sent them a cleaned vanilla GSDef... lolz)
I have a bit similar trouble. When I try to load in the game any of maps, created in Forge, immediately the end of game come with choose Keep Playing and Quit the game. After pressing Keep playing, I see no objects of map, only the stellar background. While creating the map in Map Designer, the map loads in correctly and is playable. The game is updated to 1.05, Galaxy Forge where the .DEF file is changed also downloaded for v.1.05.
P.S. Also I have made the following experiment: I had created the map with stars but no planets in Map Designer, after I opened the map in Forge and added the planets. After I have made any changes to map with Forge with replaced .DEF file, it led to the same results - Keep playing or Quit the game.
@byokinotoraIf you have the same problem that Coltskinner did, then hopefully the solution might be the same.
When SOASE got updated, the version number for all the maps changed from 0 to 1. The ingame map creator changes this number automatically but, you have to change the number manally on your old maps to make them work. This can be done by opening them up in notepad and changing the second line from reading "versionNumber 0" to "versionNumber 1". If you download the latest version of Galaxy Forge it should do this automatically too.
If this still does'nt work just let me know.
Sorry, I've forgot to write down that I'd checked it before and the version number is correct - 1. The version of GF is the latest - downloaded yesterday from sinsofsolarempire.com.
I can't imagine why it happens.
humm, me neither. How about you send me the map you made to my email at neoanimage@hotmail.com so that i can take a look at it and maybe solve it.
Already done.
All right, I opened up your map in Galaxy Forge and made a copy of that map from scratch, loaded it up and it worked. I then opened up your map in SOASE and it gave me the defeat screen. I saw that it had nine players though. So I went back to Galaxy Forge and noticed a difference from your map and my map.
Your map:
My map:
I opened up your map and clicked on the 'Edit' button then on 'Players' and erased the excess players you had and then loaded the map on SOASE again and it worked. I dont know why you had ten players but that is the reason it gives you a defeat screen; because you have more players than starting planets for them.
Great Thnx. I'll try it.
I've followed your advice, and changed the quantity of platers to quantity of home planets, assigned the home planets for each player, changed the recommended game type to TwoTeamsOfTwo, but the result have been the same.
I sent the map to your e-mail.
I looked at the map in Galaxy Forge and it looks fine, but it always freezes when I load it in SOASE for some reason. I seriously can't figure out why it won't work. Sorry but, you really got me stumped on this one.
Animage, could you possably throw together a modified GalaxyScenarioDef file and some Icons for UrbanExpansion too? i love creating my own map layouts for optimum challenge/fun and the only mod that has more planets and is compatable with patch 1.12 seems to be UrbanExpansion.
I understand if you dont want too though ^^
you'll like the GSDef that's gonna come with 7DS 2.0. Many templates, much fun to be had. There will be a "Freelancer" map for 7DS that's just huge and heavily populated by Advent, Psi, and Empire militias as well as some very nasty -heavily- colonized worlds to plow through while creating your empire.
Props to you Animage64 for original inspiration that culminated in a GSDef that it 4x as large as the original -even the Solar Sins 2.0 for GSDef. Btw, the 7DS 2.0 GSDef works in the newest GalaxyForge 1.1 release -I only hope Star/Clad fixes the GForge to display templates properly.
Once the "Urban Expansion Mod" is completed ill make new icons and throw in the GalaxyScenarioDef file.
hay i downloaded the galaxyForge, works fine but when i try to save the map in this location
C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy
it says: "You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission"
any ideas?
assuming you have either vista OR windows7
run galforge in administrator .
first right click on your galforge shortcut then leftclick on properties, nowe click on compatibility, place a tick in run as administrator, click ok
now run galforge
hope this helps
harpo
ok yeah i av vista, that helps thanks one more thing now tho
as iv done that iv loaded the game up, but now i cant find the map i just saved
its not in custom maps or anything
it should be in the small/medium/large maps depending on the number of players/number of stars/ number of planets.
the wieghting is players heavy, stars medium, planets light, the greater the wieght the larger the map is considered to be ie 4 player is useually medium 3 & 2 player is small, 6+ player seems to be large
the estimates are from my observations
tried that i checked in all of the small to large maps and custom and it ent there
could it be somthing i dint change or anythin like that?..
like the GalaxyScenarioDef file do i need to repace the one in the game folder?
if so wer would that be?
ok iv now tried everything i can think of.. iv tried reinstalling it out of programs as im on vista, so iv put it into a folder on my desktop.
iv tried goin into the galaxy folder n opening the file with notepad and made any changes i thought needed to be done (its defo the the right galaxy folder with the game so that ent it), iv tried puttin more detail on the map as all i was doin was a tester but that dint work either, iv tried replacing the GalaxyScenarioDef file with the one from FG..dint workk,..
im out of ideas to what i can doo.. =[
the map just wont show up in the game..
can anyone help?..
What version of Sins of a Solar Empire are you running and what version of Galaxy Forge are you using?
i think the game version is 1.05.028 ?
not to sure what vesion im useing for FG but its the one on the download menu
and i downloaded the "Forge Tools" onee (says on my folder "galaxyForge3") if that helps?
if i need to update the game for it where will i find that?
galaxy forge 3 is for sins 1.15/entrenchment, and the updates are ONLY AVAILABLE throught IMPULSE, so fire up your impuse make sure that the impuse has the sins key , check for updates & download them. probably about 900mb.
for your version ie 1.05 you need galaxy forge 1.05 which you will have to google for.
on a different note the only mod still under development for the version you have is 7 deadly sins, and most if not all of the other mods are at 1.15 & or entrenchment
iv downloaded galaxy forge 1.05 and it works great now thanks once againn =]
I thought that would be the problem, thats why i asked. Glad to hear that you are were able to fix it. Thanks for helping Harpo
