First off, I couldn't have done this without the inspiration of the Metaverse League and Wyndstar in particular. Kudos to the master! Now to the matter at hand.I finally did it. A year zero win! Granted, it was only against 1 AI and on challenging (my current level) but I'm certain that 'tough' wouldn't have been much harder. On the other hand, it was my first attempt at an 'all-labs' and 'lease instead of buy' approach, so I consider myself proud that I could do it at all. Here is the link to the character, as a proof: http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=player&id=14517For all of you, who like me thought that year zero wins are nigh impossible: Try it! Read the posts about it! It is difficult, requires constant micromanagement, but I found it incredibly rewarding to see that victory screen after 25 - 30 turns. Not the way I'd like to play constantly, but as a change of pace, it's a incredible challenge. And of course, once you've accomplished your first 'Year Zero', post here and rejoice! As an edit, I now include the current top score.Attention new players! Do not be frightened by these scores! Playing a ZYW is actually really easy, and getting a score close to 30000 points takes just a few tries. These games are usually finished in less than 20 minutes, so have at it. Try the tiny ZYWs first, I find them easier and you might get the unique chance to beat players like neilo or Wyndstar.Current ZYW record holders:'expert' ZYW - Gigantic
1) 198450 points - MottiKhan
2) 119000 points - Kzinti Patriarch
3) 109500 points - neilo 'classic' ZYW - Tiny
1) 56700points - MottiKhan
2) 40600 points - Kzinti Patriarch / Magnumaniac3) 38850 points - Wyndstar
Ah so you're using GUBARCI I take it. I see, I see.
If you don't mind me asking, what is GUBARCI?
why the Galactic Understanding in the Brokering of Assets for the Reassignment of Cultural Identity of course
I see. I thought it was a secret Italian mathmatics strategy or something. I was envisioning a disheveled Dr. Gubarci sealed away in a dimly-lit Yale lab with a perky coed assistant and a laptop.
sounds like the plot to a seedy movie
What?
GUBARCI; That broth you simmer right before putting in the Kzinti meat
Ahhh, i thought someone had just vomitted.
So, KP...You've had time to study the hints. Any reply on the game? I figure you should be able to rack up some serious points with PI.
Havent put any serious effort into it yet, but I only have 3 days left at work. Working on a Swindle at the moment with which I plan to break 1 million, with or without an econ boom.
Sentient species taste better...
Here it is, my score, I am in the club
Saint Mina of Ophelia VII of Order of the Bloody Rose of Orders Militant of Adepta Sororitas
Welcome, and what an entrance!
Thank you
A new personal best for me, after utilizing a couple new enhancements:
Good job KP
I must be keeping you on your toes, I mean claws sorry.
Thanks.
And here's another personal best:
Closing in on 120k!
It seems I missed a couple of 'minor' improvements of MottiKhan.
KP, I think you need to pull a few new tricks from your sleeves....
Quite an achievment indeed! But the problem with Motti's method is that it takes a lot longer than a traditional ZYW, so in terms of time spent vs score, I dont find it that useful for scoring. For me at least, ten minutes for 110k is a much better deal.
Thanks, Pndrev and KP. The gigantics night take some time to complete, but the tinys can be done in 20 or so minutes.
Well worth a try, anyway.
Smashed my personal record!
And jacklV should hold third place with a score of 115,150, which he's done twice.
Random has a score ready to go that betters Motti's...since we're advertising.
He sure does. Hey Random! Post it, dammit! That's too good of a score to just let it slide.
Then again, maybe you're replaying it to get an even higher score. In that case, press on.
I haven't posted it up for 2 reasons...
1) This game was started as a normal gig/all not as a ZYW. I don't want to hose up my 'big game' character with a 200k score, even if only temporarily.
2) Yeah, I'm playing this out and it looks like it should score quite well. I'm in kinda uncharted waters as I haven't finished a DA game yet, but so far this one is running almost an entire year ahead of my 1.1m DL game. I may have additional insights concerning how/when to finish this and don't want to burn up my single re-submit.
FWIW, I've got a .png of the 'victory' screen if anybody is interested in a half-assed, unofficial score.
@KP...Damn nice game!
Yep, post the victory screen. That's good enough in my book to qualify.
with all due respect, WTF does "your book" matter?
