First off, I couldn't have done this without the inspiration of the Metaverse League and Wyndstar in particular. Kudos to the master! Now to the matter at hand.I finally did it. A year zero win! Granted, it was only against 1 AI and on challenging (my current level) but I'm certain that 'tough' wouldn't have been much harder. On the other hand, it was my first attempt at an 'all-labs' and 'lease instead of buy' approach, so I consider myself proud that I could do it at all. Here is the link to the character, as a proof: http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=player&id=14517For all of you, who like me thought that year zero wins are nigh impossible: Try it! Read the posts about it! It is difficult, requires constant micromanagement, but I found it incredibly rewarding to see that victory screen after 25 - 30 turns. Not the way I'd like to play constantly, but as a change of pace, it's a incredible challenge. And of course, once you've accomplished your first 'Year Zero', post here and rejoice! As an edit, I now include the current top score.Attention new players! Do not be frightened by these scores! Playing a ZYW is actually really easy, and getting a score close to 30000 points takes just a few tries. These games are usually finished in less than 20 minutes, so have at it. Try the tiny ZYWs first, I find them easier and you might get the unique chance to beat players like neilo or Wyndstar.Current ZYW record holders:'expert' ZYW - Gigantic
1) 198450 points - MottiKhan
2) 119000 points - Kzinti Patriarch
3) 109500 points - neilo 'classic' ZYW - Tiny
1) 56700points - MottiKhan
2) 40600 points - Kzinti Patriarch / Magnumaniac3) 38850 points - Wyndstar
Thanks to a few evil friends my score is on the increase. 73,500 in the last game, my highest by far.

Darn.... X2 post
I want to know how to do those cool avatar's. I just bet your race portraits are awesome too.
Logos i do but i have not bothered with racial prtraits as you never get to see them in the game so its not worth the time and effort to create them.
As for the avatars i guess i have a small tallent when it comes to mixing image to create a finished mix. Done so many now that it sort of comes second nature. All i use is paint.net and then go looking for some stock images that suit what i am looking for. Mix them together and brush up the edges here and ther and you have a new avatar!
IE.
Image one: - + =
Here is one i just did in a matter of mins It is made up of three images combined together. Not a great example but for 60 seconds worth of work i guess you can get the idea!
I just played my first ZYW on DA. Is it me or are there more bonus tiles in DA as compared to TA? Man, it seemed like half of my planet were bonus tiles no matter how many times I would ctrl/n.
You say that like it's a bad thing!
Nice Work!
The mark has been raised higher!!
Hmm...emoticons gone again?
Sentient species taste better...
Well done, KP!
The higher scores are coming in more frequently. This is my first one using Version 2.0. A few more tweaks and who knows?
Hey Motti, what differences have you find tin DA2.0? Anything significant?
So far, I'm seeing no differences at all. The game seems to run almost imperceptably slower in version2. Just a hint more of the regular hesitation when clicking around. Not enough to be a problem though.
Strategically identical to 1.8g for ZYWs as far as I can tell.
Did the MCC get fixed?
Oddly, no.
Wait...so the MCC works as it should, that is, as it always has in DA?
And yeeees, im one of the few that think the description for the MCC was wrong and not the function of the structure.
I thought I might break the record again wiith this one, but only tied it:
Thats very surprising to hear about the MCC....
Especially since they promised to bringt the MCC fix from TA to DA.
Correct; MCC still gives +100% economics ability in DA 2.0.
For what it's worth, in all the testing I've ever done, this is a racial bonus, not a modifier. So it's basically equivalent to 2 and a half mining starbases. Certainly worthwhile; particularly early game, but it becomes worth less and less, percentage wise relative to your current income, as your economic bonuses pile up.
Then again, if your goal is to max out your economy, then you'll probably still want it even knowing this.

pndrev: Indeed.
Yet another nice score, KP. Well done!
I have a new personal best that'll bump the second place score. I played it several ways and couldn't quite get that elusive 110k. A third library probably would have done it. Still, I can't complain.
Nice score mate.
Nice game Motti!
Thanks folks. Another personal best and bump to the second place score. Finally broke the 110k barrier. And now, off to work on the 111700 barrier.
Nice Work mate.....I'll want details when i return!!!
This particular game went differently. The map was calling the shots. Details, as always, are posted in our private forums. I doubt I'll see a map like this again any time soon.
I only played this one twice, but I don't see any way I could squeeze any more out of it.
Excellent game Motti!
